    STEEL WOOL is your friend Hey dude I got a golf 1.8 tsi and thinking about getting the Apr delete plate and what not...now here's the kicker, as im watching your video theres some things that can be done differently I used to have a 1988 ford thunderbird turbocoupe which came with a 2.3 4cyl turbo from the factory, I had massive crank case ventilation problems and cylinder head ventilation problems with the stock pcv setup causing all kinds of leaks from seals and valve cover...however from factory the head ventilation line goes to the inlet pre turbo literally 3 or 4 inches from the wheel of the turbo inlet, the vent piece on top of the valve cover had some steel wool type thing stuffed in it from the factory which would catch most of the oil that gets caught up in the suction process from the turbo inlet and drips back down as it accumulates, only the tiny vapors would get through which is fine, now the crank case side of it had a similar contraption with an oil separator filled with the factory steel wool material but attached to the pcv which then from the factory attached to the Intake POST TURBO which is stupid because when the pcv malfunctions the crank case gets pressurized, I deleted that pcv and did the same thing and routed it to the turbo inlet pre turbo, no more oil consumption issues other than the fine mist oil vapors pre turbo but this can be solved by a pre turbo water meth setup to keep things clean, think I might just go ahead and get this Apr plate and do similar to what I did on my thunderbird when I'm ready to get it tuned...not anything fancy just an is20 setup

    • @BryceJordanProductions

      MPI does indeed help keep the valves clean, and the catch can will also help some too. My stock PCV unit failed and would cause oil to dump into the engine and make big clouds of smoke. These catch cans replace that pcv plate and add in the can to catch the nasty stuff.

    Hi! Bryce. I installed a vortex xl on my 2019 gti and now I m just checking a big big blow by . Sometimes on drag races if brake was pushed hard a big anount of white smokes came out through the exhaust. • @BryceJordanProductions

      Sounds like it might not be blow by then.. pop the dp off and see if there is a bunch of wetness or burnt oil residue on the exhaust housing or dp. Could be the turbo, could be the PCV. Maybe turn the car on without the dp connected and keep an eye on the exhaust housing of the turbo if you see oil coming out it may be a bigger issue. But it's really hard to give advice without seeing it first hand. Are you in the EQT group? Maybe post a vid and tag me

    EDIT: 10:55. I'm pretty sure the reason they (APR) went with that clip is because the Racingline type of clamp degrades over time (years), becomes brittle, and breaks. Then it'll just be loosey-goosey and won't clamp properly.

    Hi man, big fan of your vids. I am having the identical symtoms with a forged built motor and a big turbo setup and excessive oil blowby into the CTS catch can. I did 3 pulls and then felt something weird was going on and went to check the engine bay only to see oil sprayed all over the engine bay, apparently turbo sucked oil from the catch can. I was wondering if this is a normal phenomenon in these built engines and if you are still happy with your APR can. Also, did you do a compression test to see if the piston seals are okay?

    • @BryceJordanProductions

      Seems to be very common with built engines.. not sure why though.. the apr setup fixed it and I was very happy with it, besides the pcv plate slightly seeping oil but that can be Remedied with a bigger O ring for the silver tube.. unless APR has revised it by now (there was a mass of complaints)

      @@Chris-vs2up So it is normal that I am feeling pressure when I am opening the oil feeling cup with this system
      And there’s nothing wrong with my APR system

      I solved the PCV problem technically.
      1. Keep stock PCV system.
      2. Install MANN+HUMMEL ProVent 200 Oil separator (3931070550) in between in PCV hose & Intake manifold connection
      3. Drain oil or just install check valve & tap the oil drain vent to the engine sump.
      4. No more oil blowoff into the intake manifold.
      5.Max expense on this system is less than 150USD/-
      I got a link for the oil separtor.

    I'm new to audi and have the apr catch can with pcv plate and within a month of having them on which might be 1k miles the catch can was about half full, kind of worried at the moment because my last car had an ls engine and if I didn't empty it for probably 20k miles it might just be under half full.

    • @BryceJordanProductions
      @BryceJordanProductions  2 года назад

      Nope that sounds about normal man. Most catch cans on other platforms don't replace the PCV entirely like this.. they T into the existing setup. In the summer racing months I was half full probably once a month or more depending on the humidity. Winter not as much but more water then oil or fuel

      @isaaccarrera9390 3 года назад +1

      @@KXP70 I’m not 100% sure on how to explain it but this is how I understand it. A baffled oil pan controls the flow of oil returning from the cylinder heads to the pan and direct oil from the rotating crankshaft thus reducing crankshaft pressure and high crankshaft pressure is what causes blow by. That’s how I understand it at least. I could be wrong tho

    My first VW was a 1960 Bug with a 1200cc engine. We just purchased a 2014 EOS with 39K miles. I'm very unimpressed with the engine. 2.0 TSI. Not sure what the real name of the engine is? Anyway, direct injection is a horrible idea and I sid I'd never buy a DI vehicle. VW burns oil, down 1/2 quart in 600 miles. Lots of oil in the intake. Low tension piston rings probably have a lot to do with it. Has anyone figured out how to do a PCV delete? Change it so it's like the cars of yeseteryear where they just vented the blowby outside. It worked just fine. Dealer told us if the timng chain breaks, a new engine is $14K. If the head needs to be replaced only, that is over $5K. Ludicrous. My FIAT Abarth is solid as a rock, port injected, never any oil in the catch can. Zero issues and cheap to keep. Sorry we bought a VW but the convertible is fun to drive.

    • @BryceJordanProductions

      I'd get rid of that EOS asap.. they're nothing but issues and that first gen 2.0 it's riddeled with issues. Not sure if there's a pcv delete but a catch can helps. Terrible with carbon buildup regardless. The engines are called "EA888.x" x being generation. You have gen 1 the current is 3 and the mk8 will be the fourth gen. Great engines as of the gen 3, I wouldn't own a gen 1/2 unless I found one with low miles and maintained it myself

      @@scotta9114 I bought a 2010 Audi A4 Quattro with 51k miles and it is in like new condition in the exterior and interior, but.. the car is consuming a lot of oil about 1qt every 350/400 miles, but the car seems to be working completely fine, no misfires or check engine light, I do notice that there is a noise not sure if like a rattle when I let off the gas pedal at low rpms which apparently is the turbo waste gate, but I don’t know what to do with the car at this point, the car is really nice and drives very good but the oil consumption problem is killing me and also everyone that I’ve asked about the car are telling me that I have to change the timing chain, and that’s about $2000 CAD and I just bought the car about a month ago and it only has 51k miles
