@@Mk2Mitch I done the same bud. Left school at 16 on a Friday. Started an apprenticeship on Monday panel beating. Still doing it to this day. I’m 50 now.!!
Thank you for the advice! I use a foam kneeling pal when stationary but I admit when I get up and move around I don’t bring it with me! Will try and take more care in the future 👍🏻
I think lack of maintenance by previous owners caused the original motor to play dead, I used to refresh my mk 1 tina GT engine on a Saturday morning ( piston/ rings and big end brgs) my dad hated it as I always had either my cars apart or friends cars stripped down being fixed. Great video. Nothing beats the adrenaline rush as you get ready to first start an engine.
Cheers mate, the maintenance record for this van are surprisingly good! It has only ever missed 3/4 services in 25 years. Which makes it even more annoying that it went wrong 🤣 Sounds like you used to have great fun! 😎
Cracking video, the 30 minutes just flew by, great still pic when you had got the gearbox in and fitted, really chuffed for you and seeing Vinnie out n about again 👍
Loved the video mate. Reminded me of working on numerous 1.8 diesel ford engines 25+ years ago, including getting slapped on the wrist by a timing belt as it snapped whilst I was manually revving the engine after I'd just replaced the water pump.Yes, it bent a couple of valves which, in turn, then snapped the vavle guides in the head as I tried to remove them. Ended up being a head replacement.
Fair play in doing that people would had scrapped it but you kept a fellow ford on the road once more hats off to you I’m struggling to get my moped vacuum to work on the carburettor it runs but self assisted
Feel for you mate to do all that work and then have an oil pump issue but good things come to clever mechanics or talented youtubers.. Looking forward to seeing the blue courier you had in the background🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 crack on
Thank you pal, yes it was absolutely gutting but I knew I had to get that fiesta van back on the road 👍🏻 Courier is my dads, will get it on the channel soon!
Excellent job swapping the engine over on ya van! You gave me the spark to get my little 106 quiksilver vts back on the road. I need to roll my sleeves up & get busy fixing! 🤔👍
Can't beat the little diesel fiestas. I daily drove a mk3 with a mk1 mondeo Td engine a few years back. Was great fun on a bar of boost and the pump turned up. Even fitted the monde intercooler under the bonnet too.
What a really well put together video very interesting and informative and doing it on your own hats off to you and thanks for the shout out that header tank looks so good with that cam cover looks like new well done for getting it all sorted and back on the road
Would love to do some swaps like that but I’m just glad the vans up and running again. Most my money goes towards my escort project for now 👍🏻 I like the sound of that though!
Needs a turbo, Mitch 😂 Seriously though, cracking job, mate! Cash in your cat' at your local scrappy... worth a good wad of cash at the moment. Cheers. Leigh.
Hi mitch great videos saw you in the background at aca when a beige rs2000 was going through 25k I think in the 90s I specialised in these average one £1500 something nice low mileage later custom 4 grand how times have changed lol
Overall, good job, but you need to fix how the Fiesta starts. It cranks for too long. Either you have an air issue in the fuel system or the injection pump is incorrectly timed on the gear. The pump gear has slots for a reason, allowing you to adjust the pump's timing (referring to the injection timing).
Thank you, I appreciate the advice. I’ve tinkered around with the fuel pump cog but no difference. I did notice a slight weap from one of the leak off pipes coming out the injectors. I’m going to put all new pipe on them and see how it goes! 👍🏻
Here's a real thing that bugs me mitch in late 81 I was at a Ford dealer wilsons I larne n ireland picking up a new Ford cortina for my mum they had 2 rs2000 customs I terracotta I black salesman told me no interest in them everybody wanted the new xr3 9 grand would have bought both imagine a delivery miles on appearing today 80k maybe the cortina was more expensive tried to convince my mum but the rs she said don't want a 2 door lol
i had an oil pump fail once, it had ingested a single steel strand off a rotary wire brush, straight through the mesh pick-up + jammed the gears solid... [just had the head done] why didn't you fully build the lump before fitting, your engine crane would of lifted it you forgot to chuck a turbo on... keep it up young man
That’s a shame, I’ve heard they don’t usually wear or go wrong often! I didn’t build it up as it’s tight in the bay and just opted to out engine and gearbox in separately to make sure I don’t catch or damage anything in the bay 👍🏻
My hat goes off to you Mitch, taking that engine out alone, clever guy, weldone Mitch🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🇬🇧🇬🇧
Clever young man aren’t you.. 👍👍 fair play Mitch. Quality work 👌👌
I try! That’s what you get for leaving school at 16 and going through a 4 year apprenticeship 😁

Great video, but get yourself some knee pads, trust me, 46 years of joinery and my knees are done..
Your not the only person I'm 45 and I've got arthritis in both of my knees
Yes.61 now, one knee has problems i have to get regular injections in it.i wish i had taken care.
Thank you for the advice! I use a foam kneeling pal when stationary but I admit when I get up and move around I don’t bring it with me! Will try and take more care in the future 👍🏻
Top work Mitch ! Again I’m only an apprentice but watching I’m picking up bits a pieces along the way 👊🐝

Can't beat the little diesel fiestas. I daily drove a mk3 with a mk1 mondeo Td engine a few years back. Was great fun on a bar of boost and the pump turned up. Even fitted the monde intercooler under the bonnet too.

Great content matey. Glad to see your channel growing so well. Deserved.
What a really well put together video very interesting and informative and doing it on your own hats off to you and thanks for the shout out that header tank looks so good with that cam cover looks like new well done for getting it all sorted and back on the road
Cheers Steve, really appreciate the comment! I agree, the header tank looks great. I’ll be tarting the engine bay up a bit more soon 😁
great video, and well done.
Thank you!
Can feel your relief, joy and happiness at the end. Great video
Thank you! I was very happy 😁
Red one back In action, rs200 convert the escort van? With the mk5 ra2000 front end would look lovely
Would love to do some swaps like that but I’m just glad the vans up and running again. Most my money goes towards my escort project for now 👍🏻 I like the sound of that though!
Mitch, I'm in awe of your skills. Fantastic work. Well done sir 🏆
Thank you pal! 👍🏻
Great video Mitch, top work pal, yes, these bad boiz must be kept alive. Love your passion. Tops.👌👌
Cheers mate!
Fair play to ya mate 👏👏 they're a big heavy lump of a motor, especially doing it on your back and on your own!! Well done 👍
Thank you pal, yeah was a lot of graft but I needed this van back on the road 🤣👍🏻
Quality video dude - so much work and effort went in to that - fair play 👍😎
Thank you! 😎
Nice work and I bet your well chuffed 👌
Thank you, yes very happy to have my little van back on the road 😁
Needs a turbo, Mitch 😂 Seriously though, cracking job, mate! Cash in your cat' at your local scrappy... worth a good wad of cash at the moment. Cheers. Leigh.
Cheers Leigh, I’d love to turbo it but surprisingly it isn’t that slow!! 🤣 Unfortunately cat was surcharge so had to go back to the motor factors!
Great job lot of work done there and end result is great 👍
Cheers mate! 👍🏻

Great video. Lucky find with that engine, seem a beauty. Love that little van glad it’s surviving! Be nice to sort the scab out - be a smashing motor
Thank you pal! The van will be going in for some bodywork very soon 👌🏻
Brilliant stuff, what a job on the fiesta van. Best wishes.
Thank you!!
A lot of work doing that. Well done.👍
Cheers Nick!
Top lad, great attitude you have Mitch 👍🏼
Cheers pal!
Well done excellent video I am glad you updated about your van I was wondering what happened to the engine nice job can't wait for your next video
Thank you mate, very happy to have it back on the road now! You’ll be seeing more videos on it soon 😎
FairPlay. Not often you see someone so positive doing an engine swap. Anyone else there would be abit more swearing and giving up 😂😂
Haha, I'm not saying the swearing wasn't cut out...🤣
Excellent job and video as always !
Thank you!
Well done pleased for you . Respect mate
Thank you!
Great video
Cheers pal!
Well done mitch big respect👍
Cheers pal 👍🏻
Great vid Mitch, top work.
Thank you!
Good job , was thinking you might have sourced a T.D unit but i guess you wont find them at those prices ?
Thank you, I could have but I wanted a simple swap! There is still the potential in the future to turbo it 👌🏻
Are you doing a vid of the cricketers?
Yes! Will be up today at 6pm 😁

@@Mk2Mitch yeah, that also could be a reason, good luck! :)
Any ideas what the correct aux belt is for the escort van engine? Mines been routed wrong so it's got a shorter belt on it. Yours looks much longer!
Knee pads Mitch please,or a nice thick rubber mat🍺🍺🇬🇧🇬🇧
Don’t you wait for the glow plugs before starting?
Yes always, did I not?
Didn't look like it but that could be editing...was just trying to work out why it took so long to start initially 😊
💪💪👍👍

Shiniest fuel pump in England
Haha, I hope so 👀🤣
Great advice about knee pads but you are not a heavy man ie slim so you wont struggle as much as a person who is heavier lol
Nothing exciting about a noise of a Diesel 😅
If you say so 🤷🏻♂️🤣
