I think part of the reason the romance feels good is that it's all chemistry and tension, instead of lust. It takes SO LONG for them to even have their first kiss, and it doesn't matter.
its the natural chemistry that made me love the show so much! i thought it was going to be cringy but i LOVED it so much!

This episode is one of my favourites because both actors can truely show all the emotional range in their play. So much going on in that one. The stair moment in the dress reminded me of that Delena moment from TVD.
So beautiful! Also the pool and car scene broke me! And then the music started and I was an even bigger mess!
Mortimer, the father, is my least favourite person...Obviously!
Just finished the first book and I am so happy that the show is so book accurate! Happens rarely these days!
We need another season! Onto the next book now ^^
Regarding the spicy: there is definitely some development there but in the book there is definitely more.
However, all the more intimite scenes in the show are done very gracefully imo. You will see!
I think they found the perfect balance to make it watchable for more or less all audiences.
Damian and Harriet do a phenomenal job!
Also yesterday I saw a video where they mention that Maxton Hall is No. 1 show in 68 countries! That's mental! What an absolute success for the German author Mona Kasten and everyone involved in the show!

I'am 52 years old and you describe exatly all the feelings I have watching it. It's so intense. And the leading actors' chemistry is insane. They express so much only with their eyes. How they put the story together...it's pure magic. Soundtrack, setting, storyline...perfectly done. Hope, they take their time for season 2 and don't rush through the story. Thank you for your videos.
I loved this episode. It was my favorite of the 6. Their rlsp dynamic progressed so much but it didn’t feel rushed. It flowed so well.
The pool scene was perfection. That death glare he gave Cyril. How gentle he was holding & comforting her. Her being vulnerable and explaining her trauma around water & her dad’s accident. And yes he did shed that one tear bc he just doesn’t know what to do. He knows his dad won’t approved and he can’t protect her but he doesn’t want to let her go either.
the pool scene could’ve been so typical, but they did such an amazing job with it! OBSESSED!

In the book their relationship develops over months but I don’t think that it feels rush in the show, even though there their relationship only develops over a few weeks I think

If I remember it correctly, the pacing in the book is slower. They put events together and stuff. Originally the ball was for Halloween, so it’s a little slower

so I read the books when I was 17 and I absolutely love them. Mona Kasten is just a great author for writing classic romance stories in which clichés don't feel like clichés. Her writing style, at least in German, is great which led me to read nearly every book she published. She is the queen of comfy, very round romance stories.
Maxton Hall is one of the best romance book adaptions I have seen in a while. Somehow I can really sense Mona Kasten as an author or more likely the vibe of the book in the show. Some parts are of course a bit different but over all it is just great.
Honestly, I was surprised by the spice level they showed. Maybe I´ve been watching too many k-dramas lately but I felt like I wasn't supposed to see this much intimacy.
The actors are really great casted, even tho I initially wasn't 100% happy with both main leads. As soon as I saw the first bts pictures of them in character I was on board. I only knew Damian Hardung (James) before the show and he is honestly really interesting. He is not only a great actor but also studied medicine on the side and graduated faster than the estimated regular study time, also he is into climate change/environmental activism. Like wtf.....
AND HOW YOU RECOMMENDED RUBY RED ahhhhh, ruby red and the insane crush I had on Gideon reigned my early teens..... :)

Yeah, it is like the perfect adaption of a novel, they improvised things and scenes from the novel and end up making them more meaningful and emotional, it's just perfect.

Loving your comments on this show, and in such agreement with you! I do wish they had given it more than 6 episodes though! 10 episodes would have been perfect! I mean, my life with the walter boys for example was 10 episodes, but i thought it should have been less, because some of the episodes nothing really happened. I guess netflix gives shows a bit more leeway than amazon prime! I hope that when they do the second season of MH that they extend the number of episodes....and they will definitely give us a second season, i have no doubt about this.
Also, can we just talk about the chemistry ❤... i mean, it is off the charts! He is so handsome too, it is the vulnerability you see coming through which makes him even more appealing! Swoon!
I would definitely say to watch this show in german language with subs, because the dubbing is awful! I know they are trying to keep it real to the roots of the book by having them speak German, but i do think the show would reach even more people if they had spoken English! Also, what is up with the book not having english versions yet? Amazon have missed a HUGE marketing opportunity there! They need to get those books published in english asap! yep, i think it is good that european languages are being promoted more internationally, for sure! And the whole enemies to lovers trope.....I am such a sucker for it! 😂it is the same with all the SKAM shows, I was addicted to those! The OG - William and Noora!😂😂😂
But the interactions in MH between the two main characters is on another level! So so good!
Also, i think with the amount of money Amazon have they could ring up the author and publishers to get the books out in english in seconds! I think they are just wanting to build up the demand factor with the fans! Keep them hanging on and max up the interest in the show as much as possible first @@reactswithria
I do not speak German and I’m usually not a huge a fan of watching stuff with subtitles or having it dubbed over in English cause I usually find it a bit weird to watch like that but I absolutely LOVED this show! I can’t wait for the next season ❤

first: i love your videos.❤❤ everything you say i feel it. like even if everything about this series was sh*t: i'd still watch it 5 times in a row just cuz of the soundtrack and the aestetic (or however u spell that🙄) and actually, elaine isn't even a big part in the books. yes the beginning scene is correct but after that she appears like one time and that's it. Elaine even being in maxton hall is not in the books. she already graduated and is not at all: don't u dare spending time with james our daddys decided that we are gonna marry when we were like 3. it was pretty much dramatized in the series😂

I think one criticism of the show I have is that we see exactly why James falls for Ruby but not much of a perspective of why Ruby likes James, she obviously likes him because she was anxiously picking her clothes when he showed up at her house but where did that come from?
