I loved absolutely every minute of that restoration the E38 is one of the best cars ever built by BMW when they were at the top of there game. Truly "The Ultimate Driving Machine" and in silver it is perfection.

I’m watching you doing all the fiddly work with the dashboard LCD screen and just imagining myself breaking all the plastic tabs and ruining the whole thing.
Some guy at BMW hopefully lost their job over these. This is the shittiest type of connection your 2 dollar pocket calculator uses and very cheap keyboards... both of which do not survive reassembly because of it. The damn thing is mounted by pressure... connectors BMW? you go all out on those every friggin place in these cars and the display cluster is just a throwaway item like this? the average 50 dollar laptop uses better ribbon cables with braces... FFS
The videos just keep getting better ! Just my personal experience, for what it’s worth , but applying a little smear of ATE PLASTILUBE on the shaft of the guide pin bolts makes for even slightly smoother brake feel. Also, the TEXTAR PADS are fine, but I’ve found using ATE CERAMIC PADS not only pretty well eliminates unsightly brake dust, but ALSO helps brake comfort, noise ( vibration minimisation) and rotor life. Ps. The Zimmerman rotors you fitted are the absolute best premium quality you can buy !!
I live in Dubai. I bought myself a 2006 760 that was in bad shape. The difference between myself and @M539 is that I will never be able to do the repairs and restoration myself. The good news is that there are endless garages around here that can do it!
Never seen a collapsible creeper before. Love your videos man. I got 4 bimmers and still hanging on to my e46 in hopes of similar restorations one day. 277k miles, runs like a charm and no check engine lights.

For those of you with a keen eye, who are wondering why a Japanese specification car would be left-hand drive, when the Japanese drive on the left like we do here in the United Kingdom... ...for some strange reason (that I still don't fully understand), owning a left-hand drive car is seen as a huge "social status symbol" in Japan. When I was building and retrofitting cars at Aston Martin, the combination of a left-hand drive car with right-hand headlamps always caused some slight confusion on the production lines... "And nothing broke" is something you never hear when taking things off a BMW lol. I broke EVERY clip on the front passenger door panel replacing the inside handle on my 328i.

I'm guessing that these cars are worth a lot more in Europe than they are in Canada or the USA. I don't know how much money he put into this car but he does the BEST work I could even ever imagine being done on an older BMW for resale. Dat "Ninja flip" was impressive! Two projects on your channel are outstanding, for me at least: The restoration of the BMW E31 850i V12 (Project Malaga) and BMW E38 750iL V12 (Project Dubai). Both are insane projects and beautiful beautiful cars. I am thankful for your craftsmanship and courage to tackle these projects. Bringing these babies back to life and on the streets again is a treat.
I owned a few bikes and done some extensive work on some of them - like putting a full exhaust on, AIS removal, valve clearances etc. I cannot believe how calm you are throughout all of those tasks. You also seem to have the fingers of a brain surgeon because I broke an insane amount of all those plastic tabs, clips etc. Every time I look at taking a plastic components apart I have a knot in my stomach lol. Congratulations, you're doing an amazing work.
Ninja Flip... every video you make me smile and want one (an E38 that is) ... what a superb car this once was... and still is... just look at the ugly mother BMW now dares to call the 7-series. They missed the point WHY the Chinese buy BMW, MERC etc... now all are trying to cuddle them by adding grotesk details. Not so with this E38. Love your work...

Car is as easily as safely liftable with any doorskirt attached to crane .... it's a Bimmer after all. (Which translates into "unnecessarily difficult to work on", as usual in Bimmers ....)

@@senpai5157 I still can't understand what rides car constructing people to fear visible screw fastening (which would make removing panels/trim/skirting tremendously more easy) like the devil fears holy water .... as a boatbuilder I would loose my job in an eyeblink would I deliberately build things as unaccessible and as hard to work on.
@@admiralfloofz658 I actually have a T1N Sprinter RV conversion and a W 211 Transporter as well as a couple elder 109, 110, 113 and 107 in my fleet. So, I did try. Wasn't so bad. The elder, the easier.
He mentioned that from the factory they're glued together, and the glue goes bad over the years. That's why the fix-kit instructed to just press the contacts together with the spacers.

After many years of working on cars I have come to realise my big mistake and why I get so stressed ? It’s the fact that I never do the ninja spin and great hair combination before commencing a task, it’s now going to be part of my daily routine 😉 in all areas of my life. As someone that has lived in Dubai previously and seen how the crazy locals there treat their powerful cars that they don't know how to control, I cringe when I think about a car that's lived there. Probably been abused every day of her life. But now she has you, and what a wonderful journey she's on. Keep up the great work! BTW, it's been explained to me that acetone can be harmful to the solder resist on PCBs so I personally use electrical contact cleaner instead on my electronics work. DeoxIT and MG Chemicals have contact cleaners that are pretty widely available here in the US. Not sure about Germany but I've used them on similar projects (pressure mounted pins) and they work wonders on oxidation and corrosion. Cheers.

I did mine. Every single needle pulled out of the motors. They kinda work ok, but my lcd screen is readable now.
I had to do back a couple of times to see the "problem". Effort to benefit ratio on that specific piece of work extremely low.
I am a big fan of old BMWs and you are prolly the only guy that i would buy a car from...you are joy to watch

He mentioned that from the factory they're glued together, and the glue goes bad over the years. That's why the fix-kit instructed to just press the contacts together with the spacers.

As someone that has lived in Dubai previously and seen how the crazy locals there treat their powerful cars that they don't know how to control, I cringe when I think about a car that's lived there. Probably been abused every day of her life. But now she has you, and what a wonderful journey she's on. Keep up the great work! BTW, it's been explained to me that acetone can be harmful to the solder resist on PCBs so I personally use electrical contact cleaner instead on my electronics work. DeoxIT and MG Chemicals have contact cleaners that are pretty widely available here in the US. Not sure about Germany but I've used them on similar projects (pressure mounted pins) and they work wonders on oxidation and corrosion. Cheers.
