Addison suddenly being on her way to being a fashion girl is the best plot twist of the year. I'm not the biggest fan of her although I don't dislike her very much either. Love this for her.
A lot of fashion items that Kendall wears, (or chooses herself), are always not that great. She has the perfect canvas to wear such great things - she needs a better stylist maybe to tell her, "NO, YOU'RE NOT WEARING THAT, KENNY!" lol 😆
I actually really liked the skirt, the hem of the waist is something I haven’t necessarily seen before or as often. If the top was just pure sheer, and with the right chrome accessories, it would have been a moment and she doesn’t mind being naked anyway so would have been great

My grandmother was a tailor at Chanel for decades before I was born. Then she had her own private clients. She taught us so much about fabrics and bodies and who should wear what, stitching and both the architecture of design (good clothing is constructed) and..... so many things we often barely listened. I assisted her with a client once and the woman had a dress in mind that she wanted for an event. My grandmother just set that aside where it was never seen again. She had the woman bring a pair of flat shoes, heels, the shoes she intended to wear for the event and her own two feet. I suspect my job was to make coffee and do whatever my grandmother told me without making any noise. No bother. She had the woman walk around the dining and sitting room ever so casually, or so it seemed, and then sit in different chairs while I made the coffee. She was watching how this woman's body actually moved, worked etc on its own. The dress should never wear you after all and, with the right cut of the right fabrics, anyone of us can look like perfection. My sister has long legs and slim hips and I have a high waist and a body that was made for pencil dresses/skirts. My sister can wear flowing silks and certain tones, whereas I could never. I can fill in those pencil dresses in specific fabrics and strong colours but never flowing silk. A summer halter dress rather than a billowing array of silken shades. I learned that we should ALL have someone like this to teach us our bodies, the magic of textiles, proper stitching and never forget that shoes are equally constructed. In my view, Ms Eilish looks ridiculous in this outfit and no label can change that (at least it wasn't Chanel!) You did your best to describe it with justice, which I do appreciate. What's the point of making nasty remarks? What's done is done. But the eye-mask, which I did not at first notice, just took it over the top into costume cartoon land. The dress is ill fitting, ill designed (what they call tortured), completely wrong for her body and makes her look a full mess and, as if that weren't deserving of sufficient polite denial, the eye ask is as subtle as a sledgehammer (as my ex husband would say). What is the rule? If you have to explain that much, you've missed the point. Plus, those insignia fro head to toe, though small, are not understated but predictable. My grandmother will have spun right out of her grave having seen that Chanel participated in the logo explosion, though they do seem now to have gone back to the old-money understated quality over quantity that defined them from the outset. Understated elegance has that impact, that self-possession, that aghast ill feeling of impressing or wearing someone else's name emblazoned across your clothing that we still find amongst the oldest corners of 5th Avenue and other such places.

Jodie Turner-Smith - I love that the square plunge and the gloves create such a sharp crisp horizontal line - that’s great fitting and attention to detail and should be celebrated! Brilliant! Thanks for another great review!
The Jodie Turner Smith look is very early 1920s inspired. That square neckline was done at the time, though usually with a contrasting top half underneath, think baggy bandeau. Wonderful modernised with the exposed skin, and matching gloves.
These weird "sheer top + random mismatched long skirt" dresses have been around for some time now - and they never look good. It always looks like the celebrity wearing it wanted to wear something sheer no matter what, forcing a poor designer to improvise
Luke I have a question for youuu. If you could be in charge of costume design for any TV show/ movie, it could be current or it could be an old one, which one would you pick?
Billie's look is very reminiscent of a 1950's nightgown and peignoir set. It doesn't really look like it started from there and was translated into an evening wear look; it looks like a nightgown and matching robe that I could get at Nieman's. Especially with the eyecover/headband.
Thanks for pointing out that it is harder to style a very petite woman. I think that is partly what was going on with that Sandrah Oh dress as well. She looked like she was lost in a forest of business. Most fashion is designed for tall, willowy people with long limbs and if you are on the shorter side, it can be rough, especially to find an evening dress that doesn't make you look like a child got into their mother's dres...
That's true. It's hard to dress petite women cause clothes are made for taller people. But I feel like when it comes to petite fashion Ariana Grande does it right. I'm being biased cause I love her style. But she doesn't get lost in her clothes. Not even when she wears her big poofy dresses.
Ariana just lost more and more weight and always wears super high platform heels to distract from the fact that she’s short. Not because she can style herself well as a short person.
Jodie Turner-Smith - I believe I have seen this type of decolletage on Ancient Egyptian murals. The pattern on skirt also reminds me of Egypt, even though this pattern is much larger. Art Deco took inspiration from Ancient Egypt after all.
Hire me to stand next to the photo zone and adjust shit!! Like the boots and the bunching of the sleeve, such a moment but the arranging of the fit is instrumental ahh it kills me!
FYI art deco and roaring 20s is one in the same. Art Deco, is a style of visual arts, architecture, and product design, that first appeared in France in the 1910s (just before World War I), and flourished in the United States and Europe during the 1920s and 1930s.
Billie's in a silk dressing gown! not a random shawl/jacket 😂 the blanket she arrived in was amazing :D it's such a vibe- we all want to live in our pjs and a blanket all the time now
im not even interested in fashion, or any sort of red carpet event thing in context to the video, but i like the way you talk, it gives a new perspective to an outsider.
Would you recommend going to parsons? I’m considering that as a potential college and I want to know if it would be good. For reference I want to become a fashion designer
I really like the fit on Finneas' pants, especially how they hang on his shoes. I really like how he, Claudia and Billie are styled, honestly. Very modern art, high taste level pieces.
I know you ‘have’ to include Kim k but I’m sooo bored 🥱 and tired of the Kardashian clan. Can we please move on and get past following everything they do? I have never intentionally followed any of them but it’s like they are crammed down my throat by our current day ‘superficial’ culture which, in my opinion, they have profoundly negatively contributed to. I would love your take on the beef over Beyonce's album cover outfit controversy. Marni allegedly didn't pay the designer nusi quero on time and she put the reciepts on Instagram. Marni and Beyonce's pr team (ofc involved as the work discussed is on her album cover) issued a statement saying nothing like this ever happened. And nusi recieved a lot of hate from the beyhive. And then continued to stand by what he said yet did highlight the difficulty of taking on a mega giant in the industry... Had to delete posts and basically was forced to shut up. To me it made me sad as it was obvious that nusi had nothing to gain and genuinely just wanted to be paid (showed unpaid vet bills, overdue rent etc) Made me feel like our beloved celebs are just brands and there isn't enough conversation about but brands exploiting industry newbies with the promise of "exposure" And that's crazy to me is that big models and celebs and fashion people showed support to nusi in the comments but after Beyonce and marnis pr team were on it ... Marni basically wrote an obviously threatening comment on insta, there was a small press release and then everything was immediately taken down and never spoken of again. All so sus and strange and sad
24:00 Quintas dress is specifically Haint blue and has the water motif so it’s a very significant dress to utilize that color so dramatically. A focus on flow and black sheer. The color has specific relationship to plantation ceiling/southern porches/and spirits. With water being attractive confusing and stopping spirits or inviting spirits depending on what stories/what area you’re in. So you’d paint the porch or the ceiling a very slight blue to mimic the sky/water. But it’s common to find a version on everyday houses to southern mansions with that color/watery look. I feel likes it’s very referential. As for kylies dress that designer seems to have more non-binary type models and the use of black strips as a reference to modernism/minimalism/ 60pop-art-modernabstraction. I don’t think it’s fitted on her correctly and because the straps/lines aren’t where they should be it feels off. That pause icon should have been made into longer parallel lines like a fake front-bodice silhouette (without laces). I think the artist is just use to imagining flat models/flat canvas and didn’t really model the dress to fit someone who’s style kinda according to dress code has to be pedestal like or Column like instead with draping traveling on sides over the front and hanging. It felt like you look at the dress only from the front directly and it could work. But it’s still not fitted, the lines should look painted if you’re going for that illusion not stamped
Carey Mulligan gives me Great Gatsby vibes with that outift! I think she's married to the lead of Mumford &Sons? And Quinta looked adorable.Very Cinderella by Brandy moment. Don't know about the gloves with her short stature but it looked better here than the one she wore to the Emmy's so good for her.
Just happened to come upon your commentary of who wore what to the LACMA Gala. You caught and held my attention for the full duration of the video which I found both informative and entertaining. Your knowledge of fashion is astute and your snappy delivery draped in sarcasm and dry wit is the perfect balance for the subject matter.
I love Jodie Turner Smith’s dress! But maybe because I’m a huge fan of art deco. It looked stunning on her. I also liked Addison Rae’s look. Very nice. I have to say though that I’m not a fan of Sydney Sweeney’s look. I like the sleeves and the color of her dress but … idk there was just something about it that I didn’t love. Oops almost forgot to mention Carey Mulligan’s look was great too and Quinta B. ❤️🔥
Iove these videos! You know what I think would be fun to watch, if you gave us a closet tour of your own clothes. I’m curious to see what and why you got those clothes
14:51 Pick of the litter, beautifully done. The raised "waistband"forms a horizontal line below the bust. The gloves are of a length that rise to that same horizontal. If the gloves were longer or shorter, the effect would be less pleasing.
Jenner's dress reminds me of the packaging for 'Play' -- a (now discontinued, I think) Givenchy cologne. While it doesn't change the final look, I wonder if this was deliberate?
I saw that Marni Senofonte dressed Kendall. She explained the story behind the outfit on her instagram, and it was really interesting, but definitely not my favorite look.
19:45 talks about Martha Grahams piece "Lamentation". That piece also inspired Madonnas ICONIC shoot with Peter Lindbergh in 1994 for Harper's Bazaar magazine, where Madonna, a former student of Martha Graham, is wearing a stretch tube for the shoot. He reminisces about shooting Madonna in Los Angeles back in 1994: "I worked only once with Madonna. What really struck me was her very strong motivation. We were doing a tribute to Martha Graham, her admired dance teacher. I discovered a dancer with a very rare talent. Madonna was moving in a very soulful and personal way, very touching and very much herself. At the same time, there was a feeling of perfection to everything she was doing. I was very interested in capturing some of this extraordinary contradiction, which I found absolutely stunning. Those images are as modern today as they were in 1994."
I immediately got the Martha Graham homage of Laura Harrier's dress...LOVE!!!...mainly due to the clean simplicity and fluidity of the lines. If you had that leather jacket it would have definitely skewed towards La Grace Jones.

Art Deco took inspiration from Ancient Egypt after all.
kim and balenciaga? groundbreaking
Ewww no
@@tiffprendergast it was sarcasm and a reference to the Devil Wears Prada lol
Addison looks STUNNING!!
I would like to know why Kendall made this decision, it’s affected me poorly
Similarly, Olivia Wilde. Explain yourself.
he really called it a naval pause button 😂
Addison looks good tbh
Kendall Jenner's dress: "Yeah. My mother was a wall outlet..."
Andrew Garfield I appreciate you 🙏🏻😍♥️👏🏼🌟
Hire me to stand next to the photo zone and adjust shit!!
Billie's in a silk dressing gown! not a random shawl/jacket 😂 the blanket she arrived in was amazing :D it's such a vibe- we all want to live in our pjs and a blanket all the time now
Thank you! 😅I was shouting it at the screen but I don’t think he heard me lol
Meh
Gucci really has Billie by the throat still.
Fashion critique done with Class….Very knowledgeable and done his homework. It was enjoyable listening to him. Great job 👍🏼
I think Andrew Garfield's suit is velvet. I really love it.
i'm happy to hear someone pronounce versace the right way
The rewind button comment made me giggle. But the Catherine de Medici comment had me rolling 😂😂😂
im not even interested in fashion, or any sort of red carpet event thing in context to the video, but i like the way you talk, it gives a new perspective to an outsider.
I've learned more about fashion from you than what Parsons has taught me in two years.
Would you recommend going to parsons? I’m considering that as a potential college and I want to know if it would be good. For reference I want to become a fashion designer
@@henry_evan Definitely!! Great area, great classes, great resources:)))
LOVE the Carey Mulligan and Jodie Turner-Smith looks!
I really like the fit on Finneas' pants, especially how they hang on his shoes.
I really like how he, Claudia and Billie are styled, honestly. Very modern art, high taste level pieces.
Not the rewind button lmfaooooooo 😂 that made my day 17:32
16:30
I thought the model was Finn Wolfhard
lol
I’m glad I’m not the only one here who said “Finn??”
I know there’s a lot of them but ALL their FAKENESS and Manipulation tactics keep getting rewarded. Yuck 🤮.
It really is not that deep...
@@en2186 Can you be just a tiny bit more specific b/c apparently “it’s not that deep” has become a popular mantra for some people now. When this statement is used it comes across as either the commenter trying to minimize or deflect from the original post attempting to make it seem silly, ridiculous… or they’re irritated that I don’t like something they like or they just simply don’t understand… It’s actually too deep to try to get into more deeply here/now 🤣😂. Just gave it some thought and felt compelled to share b/c I’m a very giving person 😁.
Agreed
Addison looked great! Her look gave me Cher vibes :)
omg cheers addison looks GREAT! i adore that color and plunging neckline and the necklace works so welll wooooow we love a character development moment :)
always excited to watch an episode - quality entertaintmentthat is also helping me navigate through life. when my colleague comes for the 100th time with the same unnecessary question, i answer: Maria Gracia, why do we need the belt?!
Addison looks so good. Gives me Cher vibes.
Luke and being disappointed by suit pants, name a more iconic duo
You opening music makes so many strange red carpet looks more sophisticated!
Carrey mulligan with the fringe suit reminds me of her in the great gatsby with the slapper styles
Addison looks absolutely stunning ! ❤
To me it made me sad as it was obvious that nusi had nothing to gain and genuinely just wanted to be paid (showed unpaid vet bills, overdue rent etc) Made me feel like our beloved celebs are just brands and there isn't enough conversation about but brands exploiting industry newbies with the promise of "exposure"
And that's crazy to me is that big models and celebs and fashion people showed support to nusi in the comments but after Beyonce and marnis pr team were on it ...
LOVE ROSÉ'S LOOK 🔥
Carey Mulligan gives me Great Gatsby vibes with that outift! I think she's married to the lead of Mumford &Sons? And Quinta looked adorable.Very Cinderella by Brandy moment. Don't know about the gloves with her short stature but it looked better here than the one she wore to the Emmy's so good for her.
Crying because the rewind button looks better 😂🖤
Just happened to come upon your commentary of who wore what to the LACMA Gala. You caught and held my attention for the full duration of the video which I found both informative and entertaining. Your knowledge of fashion is astute and your snappy delivery draped in sarcasm and dry wit is the perfect balance for the subject matter.
Jodie's dress is beautiful!
You are very informative and knowledgeable along with very entertaining. Totally fun and enjoyable. Thanks
Proper pronouncing of French names and fashion descriptions. Thank you == Love it!!!
Kim resembles a never written season of American Horror Story
Yup
The irony of this comment now 😂😂😂
Iove these videos! You know what I think would be fun to watch, if you gave us a closet tour of your own clothes. I’m curious to see what and why you got those clothes
Billie is definitely covering her wig with the eye mask 👀
Why is she wearing a wig?
The reaction to Claudia Sulewski’s outfit is so relevant looool
I like that when pictures come up of these red carpets I can already tell which looks Luke's gonna love
14:51 Pick of the litter, beautifully done. The raised "waistband"forms a horizontal line below the bust. The gloves are of a length that rise to that same horizontal. If the gloves were longer or shorter, the effect would be less pleasing.
The title 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I am dead 💀
I dont care for Addison's tiktok shenanigans. But I always love her look I think she's very pretty and luscious looking and this fit is perfect.
Loved Addisson Ray’s dress plus that necklace wow!
What was the story .aome said it might be roe v wade commentary or just delaying being a mother.
Never seen you but I like the way you put your opinions out
Ooh, loving that sweater on you!
He reminisces about shooting Madonna in Los Angeles back in 1994:
"I worked only once with Madonna.
"it's ugly i *GET* why you wore it" bahahah such a good distinction tho. honestly i kinda dig the look :D
Turner’s sexy lamp dress gave me goosebumps. The chevron fringe is fantastic.
I immediately got the Martha Graham homage of Laura Harrier's dress...LOVE!!!...mainly due to the clean simplicity and fluidity of the lines. If you had that leather jacket it would have definitely skewed towards La Grace Jones.
I really love to hear you speak with authority on fashion. ❤️🔥
Discombobulated, what a fantastic word, and a perfect description to this hideous outfit. I sometimes think celebrities have far too much money and no style whatsoever.
