I love how you guys are being super chill about take-backs and such these days. Magic is so much more fun to watch when the people playing are having fun, too.
I mean it's nice to allow take backs but sometimes it's way to much of a game changer to allow like with the Alex take back but at the same time Serge totally fumbled a lot of plays that game too. Either way it's nice to see some nice friendly magic.
I know it's silly, but Wheeler saying that the viewers look great made me feel nice and cute 🥰

1:02:00 Couldn't Serge have tapped the sharpshooter, hitting the chieftan, sacced curse catcher to counter and untap pinger, wait for the payment and then tap it to kill the chieftan, which reduces the other gobbo back to a 1/1, so he can also kill that? Plus then it would also be summoning sick.
Premodern encompasses all the standard legal sets between 4th edition/ice age through scourge. So basically all of 1995 through the start of 2003. We have a very active community that hosts regular monthly online webcam leagues. Additionally there are many in person events popping up. Myself and my club in Boston hosted Lobstercon in May and had 117 players for a premodern tournament. There is a European championship next month in Germany that already has smashed through the intended cap of 128 players.
serge not getting the sharpshooter to sharp-shoot itself was so painful
he could have pinged the lord once, saced cursecatcher. pinged lord again, it dies, pinged the bushwacker and then pinged the sharpshooter.. clearing Alex's board except for Grenso.. soo much missed value.

Great episode, love me some canlander. A bit of a shame one of the decks was wasted on elves as it's been shown plenty before and a touch op in fun tribal night.

The recruiter-snoop line is Torch Courier, Kiki-Jiki. Cast Torch Courier from the top, sac it to give Snoop Haste, make infinite tapped snoop clones, last one you make a copy of recruiter, putting mogg fanatic or some skirk prospector nonsense on top
years ago at Grand Prix Hoth (lincon nebraska) my team was running soul sisters and Brian Kibler had zealous persecution main board against our lingering souls/squadron hawk list. It was hilarious watching teammate get plague winded for 2 mana.

Snoop gets Prospector ability, sac Recruiter for R, play Prospector, sac Prospector cast Torch Courier, sac Torch Courier to give Snoop haste on Opponents end step and then reveal Kiki-Jiki and make roughly a trillion snoopy bois.
This does require Alex to be playing Courier, which I don’t think he was, but it does show that the simple 1 mana 1/1 that gives haste is worth a slot in that deck.
If they did all knight decks then they would have to call the match Forever Knight

Why didn't Serge just use sharpshooter on itself? Would have prevented much of the headaches in that first match.

At some point I think I'd like to see a 4 player ffa Canlander game. I know it'd be fairly similar to Commander, but I think the difference in powerlevel could make it worth at least one watch.

Turn 2 (assuming you have 2 mountains) cast goblin recruiter, get (from bottom to top) pashalik mons, kiki jiki, tourch courier, skirk prospector, snoop
Turn 3 (assuming you have 3 mountains) draw and cast snoop, cast prospector, sac recruiter to cast courier, sac courier to give snoop haste, you snoop and kiki to make infinite tapped snoops, sac a million of them for mana, cast kiki, cast pahsalik mons, sac the rest of the snoops to ping infinetely, profit

Is it bad that I was one of the monkeys still jabbering on about Defiler of Vigor in the North 100 Comments and now I'm here to say I was hoping Wheeler would play the cleric tribal list that keeps coming up? Although the absolute GLEE with which he plays each new knight is really selling me on this deck. Thanks for all the amazing content; I'll try to be more flexible about my expectations in future.

1:03:00 why would the sharpshooter have summoning sickness after returning to Alex? It doesn't change zones when Vodalian Mindsinger dies, so it should be the same object without summon sickness, no?
Summoning sickness is based on having been under the control of the same player since the start of that players turn, hence why threaten effects always give haste.
@@poiri I see, I was under the impression that summoning sickness "fell off" of creatures at the start of their controllers turn, and threaten effects gave haste so you could steal something your opponent played on their previous turn. I can see how this would be a much more robust way to defining the summoning sickness in the rules though.

GOblins VS SWIMblins
How come Serge lets Alex take back casting Tattermunge, so his Fireblast resolves, but Alex a few moments later doesn't let Serge shoot his Sharpshooter before giving it back to Alex. I know this is a bad thing to ask, but it just bugs me.
I think Serge lets Alex take back his play because it would result in an illegal action and would have fizzled and had no effect, while Serge's play still had all of the intended effects but just took a while to resolve. I am fairly certain that Alex would have had no problem letting Serge take back the play if he'd asked to.
@@jordanmacavoy4089 There ain't nothing illegal about countering a spell, even with an on board activated ability. The reason probably was, that Alex would just lose soon after, resulting in almost a non-game.
