Thank you, yes buyer beware. It’s a total roll of the dice with these. Some people report they had good luck and received working ones, other people have had experiences like mine where they received a next to non functioning watch.
Unfortunately, I got scammed with one of these watches for over $100. At least mine came with a really nice leather strap and seems to work fine most of the time apart from randomly stopping sometimes. Wish I did a bit more research, somehow the many identical sellers on Ebay and Etsy all seem to have almost no negative reviews. To be honest, I quite like the look of geniune Pobedas, so I'm almost considering buying an actual one, with a lot of research into whether it's original and maintained of course.
Almost all soviet watches use a plastic crystal, I have 3 so far 2 are from the 1960s and have a plastic glass, nearly all countries from ww2 used plastic glass and the Soviets just continued using it because its cheaper, also when looking at the back of the watch the machining on the steel parts should be in line with eachother (these are called Swiss lines) the should shine evenly. If the watch has a patina its generally a good indication that its also original, just a few things to look out for when buying old watches, hope this helped 👍👍
Hopefully your watch turns out better than mine. I've heard mixed things. Some people get decent ones, some (like me) got ones that are pure trash. I hope your watch works great
Yikes I bought one on eBay too and it slightly works, it’s a death to spies one and occiasianlly it stops working and I have to pull the dial and slightly push it back in and it will start to work again
I will have to check my history, but it was one of the top ones on Etsy. Hopefully your watch works well and is reliable. From what I have seen it seems to be very 50/50. Some people report that theirs work great and keep time accurately and then others (like me) report that they are pure junk. It's a gamble, a 50/50 chance. Hopefully yours is good. Mine happened to be terrible and the $100 I spent on it was a lesson learned. I knew it was a "counterfeit" frankenwatch and not authentic, but I was at least expecting it to work and be some level of quality, which it wasn't. The leather band was so cheap it cracked and creased within the first 2 or 3 times wearing it. The "crystal" was actually plastic and wasn't glued in (it popped off in the first day). It was a manual wind but it had almost no power reserve, I had to keep winding it constantly. It would randomly stop for no apparent reason and then other times it would speed up or slow down way more than it should. It finally broke soon after when the crown stem sheared in half during winding. I would have been way better off taking the $100 and buying a quartz Timex and pocketing the $60 change lol.
Name and shame! @@SimpleMindReviews Sorry this happened to you, it really sucks and I'm surprised PayPal didn't have your back. I'll think twice about relying on them in the future. :(
I’m glad your experience was better. I’m sure some of them are fine, my sample size of one though was pure junk. For the money I would have been far better off getting something new and modern with a Seiko NH35 or similar.
Glad I stumbled on to this video, I spotted these on Ebay

Using gloves and tapping the watch with a metal screwdriver lol.
Bro, you saved me $126. Appreciate it🙏
I’m glad I could help. That is exactly why I made this video.

You have to be careful. I’m sorry you got scammed (I sure did). Hopefully others see your comments before spending the money.

Thank you for the great information
Well thanks for letting me know. That’s a real bummer.

Damn that sucks. Thanks for saving me the effort though 😅
Glad I could prevent someone from wasting their money like I did

I know your frustration!
Damn, what seller did you go with? Just ordered one similar for 78 bucks

I bought one for 80$ it works great, has a glass crystal and holds time. My is from Ukraine
Mine came from Ukraine as well, but unfortunately my experience was not as good as yours. I’m glad you received a properly functioning one
I bought 3 of them on ebay…all 3 works great

But it's "internet famous" now and worth $600+ now, soooo...
I better rush to eBay!
You just saved me $100
I’m glad I was able to, you made the right decision on not buying one of those watches.
Shit I got scammed too. I got one for $59
I’m sorry, hopefully others learn from this video and all the comments. This was money wasted for sure.
