Eddie, I finally got around to doing this and you really helped me get it running. The best part of the video is not the hardware you're using as it seems there are a number of ESP32-based hardware solutions available, but just how you get a setup that works with WLED running in Homekit. The configuration you provided worked great! I had a little trouble finding the Homekit code, but after looking closely through the Homebridge log, there it was. It might be useful sometime to make a video that just shows how you take your already working WLED strips and get them working in Homekit. Thank you, Eddie.
Your tutorials offer so much info. I was able to get a similar setup following your steps! One thing that isn't clear to me is what the extra white and red cables (the ones that don't plug into the controller) are for?
Thank you for this video. I purchased the same items to test some ideas I have, and this helped me understand how to approach these things. Is it possible to assign different sections of an addressable LED strip to separate controls in HomeKit via homebridge? ... I mean, if I have 1 addressable LED strip and I'd like to have 1 light control in HomeKit to control one half of the strip, and another light control in HomeKit to control the other half... as if each half of the same LED strip were a separate light as far as HomeKit would be concerned?
Hey Daniel appreciate the feedback. Now with addressable LED's (at least to my experience) - the common flow of information is the data wire. To have your effect that you mentioned - youll need 2 controllers at both ends but you'll need to cut the data cable in the middle of the strip and thus having two seperate strips which will not meet your end. For Homekit it doesnt matter on how the LED's are aligned up since it receives its information from the WLED plugin

Loved the video, Thank you. Bought light strips and Athom pre flashed LED controller. However, when updating I chose the wrong bin file and now I can’t see the controller. Can this be fixed?
Yes it can be fixed ... You will need to pry open the plastic case and with a FTDI card - you will need to reflash the correct bin file ... I had the same issue as well 😅
Why have you bought and use the WLED version? and why not the Homekit version? Is the Homekit version more difficult to install that is WLED through Homebridge? I don't understand why, excuse my ignorance.

Awesome video, Eddie! Thanks for sharing that. Two questions. First, can you create scenes with WLED and have them automated on a schedule? Second, I have 3 WLED controllers, so how would I incorporate 3 of them? For example I have a controller for the front, one for my back deck, and one around my gazebo. I'd love to add all three. Thanks!
Actually, I know how to schedule them in WLED, just wondering if you can you create scenes with them so I can voice command Siri to do turn them on, off and change colors, etc. Maybe include presets in Homekit scenes. Thanks!
I have 65 feet of static govee LEDs, they have a controller that uses the same housing of the one you used in the video, but the one that came with my LEDs only uses infrared remote. I want to convert it to homekit with the adapter, but I can't figure out what type of LEDs they are. I can't find anything stating they are WS2812/WS2815 etc. Their listing just says its model number is H6191. But that just seems to be an internal model number for govee. I don't see why they wouldn't work. They are 4 pin non-individually addressable LEDs.
Well i just give it a try with this adaptor and see if it works ... However try to know Govees power rating and the LED count to add it in the WLED configuration page
Ok so it's this one controller. It seems to be the problem. the second one works just fine on the original 13.0b6 firmware and the latest 13.3 release. I will have to contact the seller at Ali and see what can be done.
