In Canada it is going at even a slower pace! From my research there are only two, yes TWO doctors who do the water assisted liposuction for Lipedema and if you want treatment it is all out of pocket! I have bursitis in my hips and I asked my pain specialist if he had any ideas on what could help me with the Lipedema, he said, lose weight! At 54 years of age, how many times a year do you think I hear that comment? I was on a gluten free low/no sugar diet for one year by the direction of my gastroenterologist and lost 1lb ( I saw her yearly), I journaled everything that went in my mouth and she was dumbfounded! Her only explanation was that I was already eating well within the healthy range and already limiting the amount of both so it didn't affect me at all. As I enter menopause I've had another weight gain and at my wits end! If this affected men, we would have the research and coverage already in place!

I am in the same boat.. Losing weight is like trying to pull teeth with no pliers.. The only thing that has helped is low carb but have to make sure I get enough protein and fats every day.. Until I increased my healthy fats and lean proteins I barely lose any weight… About 49% of my diet has to be protein.. On your comprehensive metabolic panel blood draw results look at your total protein level… Mine is always low or below normal… Also I didn’t have enough digestive enzymes to digest my food… They did a GI mapping and found that out.. Got to get your gut straightened out also to absorb the nutrients…

My partner, she has stage three lipedema, and the amount of people that just stare at her, thinking that she’s just fat is disgusting. I wish this would go viral for people to have more of an understanding of it. From the comments down below she’s eating properly and she can’t exercise because her knees are gone as well so if you want to comment on something like this with it First

Thanks Francis, it took some brave ladies to share this story - and hopefully we can together raise awareness.

I suggest a physical therapist to evaluate her knees to see what exercises she can do to strengthen her muscles… I have bilateral bad knees and will need replacements… The exercises I do help a lot.. My knees are more flexible and have more strength which helps my balance… An evaluation visit never hurts..

I feel like no one should be stared at in a negative way. Including fat people. You say 'thinking she's just fat' as if doing so to someone who is 'just fat' would be ok but outrageous to do to someone with lipedema.

I discovered I have lipedema over a year ago. I decided to give the Carnivore diet a go as a PT told me about how oxalates can cause inflammation and retention and increase the lipedema. Whether this is true or not...I gave it a go and have lost a significant amount of weight but still have fat pockets on my upper legs and arms. I have only been doing the diet for a year without exercise. I am amazed at how good this diet is for this condition. I could not lose any weight for 15 years. I tried everything. It really does help to shrink the fat. I had alot of edema round my ankles and knees. Now all completely gone with diet alone. I just eat meat and eggs. It's taking that next step from Keto to completely eliminating the carbs that has changed my body. I am now going to see if addIng in strength training and aqua jogging will help. I didn't do any exercise before now because I was always in too much pain. I am thankful that I have found that I have this as I realise I may need to have lipo to target the fat pockets. But still I will see how much I can do with diet exercise and compression first. I know they say this is not curable....but not many people have done Carnivore. It is not a fad diet. It really is how I think we are meant to eat. But we have been pushed and pushed the esr your 5 fruit and vege a day and that meat and fat are bad for you that we really haven't got the research of actually what a meat diet can do. Dr Ken Berry and Dr Chaffee and Dr Shawn Baker are trying to do research to show the benefits and I guess I doing my own on myself😂 I think we will see a flip on future to how we manage health through diet. I am hoping that as I continue on my Carnivore journey I can achieve restoring my body to how it was in my 20's. I csn only try and it is good to know I still csn opt for a little cosmetic help with lipo etc if I really need it.

Thanks for sharing! I started carnivore last summer for other health issues and have seen big improvements. A good friend of mine I’m pretty sure has lipedema.. I sent her this video.
I was wondering if carnivore diet would help improve this condition.. I figured it should help at least a little. It would be great if you would update us again when more time goes by with you on carnivore..
thanks again for sharing and I wish you the best on your healing journey!

I have stage 3 lipoedema and secondary lymphodema. I also need to get an operation for my veins. It’s a relief after all those years of receiving fat shaming comments and knowing that it wasn’t my fault.

I live in Wales and was diagnosed stage 2 last year…there is no help for lipodema in UK ..they have stopped treatment so i paid privately to go to Belgium to have my legs done…even tho it is likely to come back it was worth it for as long as itnlasts becos of the pain relief alone
