So when I was in 5th grade there was a new troll on my desk every day for a while. And as time went the trolls being left were bigger and more decorated than the earlier ones. You know , like the more expensive cool ones. Turns out they were being left by a secret crush. Kid had mad lady woo-ing skills. He moved away that year. I never saw him again. But that was probably one of my favorite memories of childhood.

Please take your kids to baby land in Cleveland, GA! I took my boys there because it was my birthday and I’ve always wanted to go. We lived too far when I was young for my parents to take me. The look on my boys faces when a cabbage patch doll was being born from the cabbage in the tree. Was the best birthday present. 😂😂😂

Teddy Ruxpin with a heavy metal cassette in was the best thing ever as a teen! Did love with the normal tapes when was younger, but was still fun to rediscover a few years later and experiment with other tapes we had tucked away.

Ok, thanks for getting the Monchichi commercial jingle stuck in my head, lol! Light Brite was my favorite, loved it!! (80s kid here.) Teddy Ruxpin terrified me as much as clowns and ventriloquist dummies…they all have butcher knives hidden behind their backs, and come to kill you in your sleep (a common them of a lot of 70s and 80s made for TV movies that I shouldn’t have been watching.) Eeeek!!!!

I totally did NOT recognise that first one and had completely forgotten the rest until this vid!
Toys I remember playing with from the 80s were Barbie dolls, My Little Pony, Hoppers (kinda like a balloon with handles that you sit on and jump), Pogo stick, Rubik's cube, Smurfs and Strawberry Shortcake dolls (and almost forgot BATTLESHIPS and Chinese Checkers and Connect 4).
But I tended to play more with my brothers' toy cars and Lego as a preference (Mum was always nagging me to play with my own toys).
We also played a LOT of card games

Missing a few things - My Pretty Pony, Rainbow Bright, Strawberry Shortcake, Smurfs, TMNT (though that was mentioned by PC), Go-Bots (and Transformers), He-Man, She-Ra, Slinkies, that weird water cucumber slippery thing you couldn't hold on to, Slip-n-Slide, Hot Wheels vs Matchbox, Spirograph, Etch-a-Sketch, Shrinky-Dinks...some of those are probably late '70s perhaps (I was a '74 kiddo) but still cool and loads of fun! :)

I was born in the (late) 50s. Trolls were around in the 60s. Also, a fun thing that was comparable in popularity to beanie babies was "Liddle Kiddle".
My grandma gave us a waterful (when most of us were in our late teens). We played it for hours. As addictive as angry birds.
Cabbage patch dolls were around for my niece's childhood (she was born in 1985).
Teddy Ruxpin - heard about it. My nieces and nephews didn't have one.
(you should get then a "Giggle Rock")

I grew up in the 80s and I remember all these toys. I had a Teddy Ruxpin -- the original one -- but unfortunately, it was a used one that my mom picked up at a garage sale and it didn't talk. I also was into Care Bears and still have my Tenderheart Bear (I originally wanted Cheer Bear but that wasn't available when I was taken to pick out a Care Bear, so Tenderheart was my next choice). I remember playing with Lite Brites, but for some reason, I never had one of my own and it was something I always played with at other people's homes. And I still have my Cabbage Patch doll (which has yarn hair, not the silky kind), that my grandmother won for me in some kind of drawing and gave it to me for Christmas when I was about ten, which was pretty cool! And speaking of 80s' stuff, remember those Sea Monkey kits? Those little critters didn't last very long, but I think they were the coolest things ever!

I never understood the appeal of the Cabbage Patch Kids dolls, especially that people stood in line forever and actually had fights to get the last one. I wrote a story that had Teddy Ruxpin in it when I was in grade school. I still have it all these years later. Had one on my Christmas list but never got one. I was probably a little too old.

C'mon now. They're not exactly the target age for these toys. Teddy Ruxpin and Monchichi were more for toddlers and preschoolers. I liked light bright up until age six. And the only fun thing about the troll dolls was collecting them. Everyone knows there is nothing inherently fun about a troll doll itself.

The water swoosh one (#2) was my jam!!! Mine you had to get the rings on pegs, and if you swooshed the water too hard the rings already on pegs would fly off. Good times!

An interesting video. However, I have to say that Lite-Brite is not exclusively a 1980s toy but rather it has been around for just about forever. The same with the Troll Dolls.
