I own Impala 2015 and I did the same but I didnt find the switch there. Imagine, I found it on the bottom left side on the condenser. I tried jumper the switch with a paper clip, but the car wont star (it just keeps crancking continuously) . I put back the switch to normal and the car crancked successfully. Am I doing it wrong? The switch is a three pins type.
We're you recharging your a/c? Seems tight for a hot engine running while reaching in there. I have meat hooks for hands. Not sure I'd be able to get my hand under there.

Don’t take air box cover off! Just take engine cover off
Plus hose attached to air box
If you do that, can you still reach in there to attach a/c connector to recharge?
Looks like the port is under the air intake tube.
