So, I'm highly considering getting locs, possibly late winter or early summer. One of the things I'm most worried about, is developing traction alopecia. I don't do much styling already w/o locs, I pretty much always and continue to wear my hair in simply loose buns and ponytails. I'm just wondering what things you do personally, or what advice you have when it comes to avoiding traction alopecia?

Lieb Don't wear ponytails and buns too much, your locs can thin out right where the rubber band was.
When you do wear ponytails and buns, don't make them too tight

Crystal New I haven't heard of anyone changing their part, but I'm about to get locs myself and my plan is to start with three parts so I can split it down the middle or either side... I guess this is only helpful if you don't have locs yet. Best of luck!
