The rain barrel is a good size, and besides not paying for water, it's close by for veggies and chickens.
To grow veggies is a therapeutic rewarding hobby. It's like going back to your childhood playing with dirt. And you get food as a bonus!
It's going to be great to garden. Whether you get enough veggies or not, you had a good time learning 😊
Good to see you Kevin and Julie.
Hi Carmen it is so nice to hear from you, it is going to make watering the garden so much better , i have been wanting to put a barrel out there for a while now and finally got to it.,and yes having a garden is like icing on a cake. Thanks for watching.
Fresh vegetables are way better than any store bought !!!!! Store bought has no flavor, less nutrients and you have no idea what they were grown in, it might say organic but us old timers can tell the difference !!!!!! With that being said , grown your own 👍❤️🙏 God bless you all !!!!!
You are so right thanks David.
Glad somebody's watching...nice!... Keep them gutters clean ...your gonna have some great water for the birds and garden... it'll be your new hobby, have fun folks...
Thank you so much for watching
“Is it worth it?” To me, that depends on how much you consider gardening a chore vs enjoyable. I really enjoy the process, so to me, it’s worth it. Thanks for the video, good to see you guys. Be well.
Hatch, i agree with you , for us it is enjoyable and rewarding when you get to see the fruits of your labor , thanks for watching.
I like that rain barrel. Man if one storm filled that up halfway, you will be in water all year.
We will be adding one on the other side to that will give us
110 gallon that should last we hope.
Thanks for the comment Daryl.
I too capture rain water from my back gutter, and that is where my row of tomatoes are, you wont believe the difference compaired to clorinated hose water, the plants love the rain water, I have a 32 gallon garbage can, and I put 2 cups of coop poop I buy on Amazon and I mix it with the rain water and water the tomatoes and all the rest with that, the difference is night and day.
Joe, there is nothing better than rain water for the garden and having it so close is going to make it so much easier for us , thanks for watching.
Rain water is so much better for plants.
You are right Frank and now it will make watering the garden so much easier because last summer we had to carry water out there to water it.
I like spending time in the garden, Kevin, I had 8 tomato plants and I canned 52 qts, I canned 16 qts of hot peppers, I had 3 zuccinni plants, so we had zuccinni pretty much all year. Kevin I planted 8 cabbage and just about the time they were the size of a softball, the cabbage moths planted eggs in them and they destroyed every single one, I had 2 cucumber plants so I had cucumber and tomato salads 3 days a week. I did pay about $5 each for the tomato plants, the cabbage, zuccinni and cukes I just put the seeds in the ground on Memorial weekend, they grow quick, it`s kind of hobby for me and it ends up being free food, I did give a lot to my neihbors, because once everything starts coming in, you get a lot, be well.
Wow Joe, sounds like your garden did great , we can't wait for a good juicy tomato from the garden and we also had a lot of salads last year, nothing like growing and eating from the garden all summer.
Gardening is more than just dollars and sense. My wife enjoys going out and "playing" in the dirt and any vegetables we get are frosting on the cake. We've had early tomatoes and cucumbers from the store that usually come from Florida (we're in Wisconsin)and they have absolutely NO flavor whatsoever compared to what we get out of our little plot in the backyard. NOTHING compares to fresh fruit or vegetables right out of the garden. Is it worth it you ask? ... yes, to us it is.
Well said! and i agree 100% nothing compares to fresh veggies , we can't wait for them.
All that talk about how expensive food is you'd think more people would get it figured out and start growing their own food. Even in small spaces its definitely possible. Stock up on seeds etc. and keep preparing accordingly. Great content as always. 👍🏻
Yes even with limited space people can grow plants in buckets and have plenty of fresh froits and veggies.Thank you so much for watching.
👍👍👍 I have to agree with MrSTOUT we find store bought vegetables tasteless. Thanks both
I also agree and not to mention how expensive they are, thanks for watching.
I hope not i think i will use it up pretty quick before it gets to that point.
Lol sorry Pete i didn't mean that comment for you.
Any concern that it will be a mosquito breeding barrel?
I hope not
