I have been using it personally since its launch. I would definitely say that if you don't really mind not having a camera-centered phone, it's a great smartphone that includes the aesthetic of a premium metal phone with an above average performance for it's price. Nothing 2a is a great alternative but it runs on mediatek which is decent but in my opinion , in terms of a great look and performance, these two phones are on the league of the new mid range flagships of this age. I also believe that since Snapdragon 7 plus 3 is a new processor, we can expect future updates to optimise it further.

@@AryanBisht-bv6xx Its decent. I don't personally use it much for camera at all. The main camera is really natural toned and the macro is good. Selfie is as good as what you could expect from any 16 mp phone but if you only want it for camera there are other options and even nothing 2a is not as good for camera either. This is a perfectly balanced phone with high performance great sound and insane haptics so it's upto you if you want something for brand and quality, one plus and nothing would be great or else realme or a Samsung A series would be better for camera centred device. Then again for Samsung you sacrifice performance and Realme has a less brand value and misses out on the premium side of BBK phones.

@@drownedsoulinbound2286 I wouldn't call Samsung A-series camera centred phones. Cameras are ok e.g. in A55, but I'd say Nord 4 can compete with those easily. Sure, Nord 4's ultrawide might not be the best in midrange (maybe not even close), but it works just fine for casual wide angle shots.

I have mine for 2 days now and am really impressed. It's my first Oneplus and I love their OS and features.
Charging is mind-blowingly darn fast and the battery does a good job. I had to check and renew all the settings etc and used it several hours intensively. You easily come through the day.
For ME PERSONALLY the camera is good enough for that price point. Ofc it's a bit blurry sometimes especially on zooming but it's (if you don't zoom TOO much) pretty nicely detailed.
    Haptics are awesome.
One thing I miss from my Poco X3 Pro is the fingerprint sensor on the Power button or like on the back as my BQ Aquaris had it. But I hope I get used to it.
Overall 8/10 for me and the best at this price point (a bit over 500€ bought directly at Oneplus with some sales)

I had the OG oneplus1 then the OP3 but jumped ship when they got greedy with the "T" models, when they launched the Nord I bought one as it seems they are getting back to the "flagship killer" ethos, it's served me well for the cost, now that MtGox has paid out, I was looking at getting a 12, but I think I'll be pressing the buy button on a Nord 4 tomorrow :) great review btw

@tech_edit you're welcome mate. I'm currently looking to replace my aging S20FE (uk spec, unfortunately!) and after 12 years of Samsung galaxy phones, I'm boycotting them in disgust over the inferior exynos chipset they give Europeans. Fair point. Hopefully what we're seeing in the Ultra - Snapdragon for UK - will trickle down to the rest of the Galaxy line, though not sure it will. So you're thinking about two phones? Hope you find the right ones! I'll be getting the 9s Pro in the next couple of weeks so if you have any Qs about that, or others you're considering as your daily driver, just shout. Basil

GREAT to hear it doesn't have an esim. It's far easier and quicker just to swap sims.
I've just got mine today, coming from a Sony Xperia 5 ii and early impressions are that I prefer the Sony. I've spent three hours playing with it but no gaming or video, in fact no surfing at all, and the battery dropped from 53% to to 16%. Hopefully this will improve after a couple of charges.
The screen seems to be VERY sensitive, the slightest touch opens an app - in fact you don't even have to touch the screen, which has led to me opening apps unintentionally. I've found the side bar doesn't always open, and has reinstated apps after I've removed them. Early days, maybe I just need to get used to it but I heard a lot about how snappy it is but it's no quicker than the 4 year old Sony. That said, the Sony was considerably more expensive but it is 4 years old now.

I have OnePlus Nord 2T currently. Only had it around 2.5 years but it's really slowing down now and apps are crashing frequently. For some reason it's entered fastboot mode multiple times now without me initiating it, like it literally just happens overnight and there's no way i could accidentally press alk the right buttons for it. A little worrying tbh. The battery is still okay despite very fast charging. OnePlus is definitely the best Chinese brand for longevity but they only last a short while longer. I think this phone in particular has lasted less simply because I've used it a lot more than i have my previous phones (due to being chronically ill and not being able to do much). All Chinese phone specs look good on paper but the UI is typically not good (OnePlus is the exception) and the good performance doesn't last long.
It's literally the worst time to need a new phone, with the UK economy so bad and me having spent lots of money for Christmas presents. I'm trying to wait as long as i can but my phone is so bad already, i think I'll just have to take a hit to my savings and spend even less money this year. Probably going to buy Nothing Phone 2a plus in the hopes it lasts longer and doesn't slow down until like 3 years old (which is when i prefer to replace my phones).
It feels like all phone brands are going backwards now, with more glitches, bugs, performance issues than ever and loads of useless AI features to cover up this backwards trend. I honestly feel like it's not worth buying expensive phones at all anymore, they've got just as many issues as mid range and cheap phones if not more, and they don't tend to last for longer either. It's not worth spending more if you still have to replace your phone every 3 years

Great review. I enjoyed it. Well at this price for what the whole handset offers, I think it's a one way device.
Great display, LPDDR5X, SD 7 Gen 3, UFS 4, 16GB RAM, 512 storage, 5500mhA battery with 100w charging speed, premium metal design and build quality and the long term updates. And the main camera is decent for that price so for a daily user experience about performance and smoothness, I guess it's definitely a hot pick phone.
Also the screen uses the Aqua Touch technology like the OnePlus 12 which it wasn't mentioned, so I write it just in case to help.
I ordered mine as well and I hope it will satisfy me enough. Keep up the good work!

It depends on your budget, but you may look to a past-gen Zenfone (Zenfone 9 or 10), or a Xiaomi 13 or 14 if you have a bit more money. The Pixel 7, 7a, 8 and 8a are also relatively compact. Alternatively, if you have a bit more money, a flip phone like the Motorola Razr Plus 2024 (Razr 50 Ultra outside America) folds up small, but opens up big. The camera is probably its biggest weakness. It is decent but nothing special and if you care about camera you probably will be disappointed.

Not as in your face as Poco phones. You can uninstall all the non-OnePlus bloat, and I didn't encounter ads, though within the settings there is a spot for the OnePlus store in your account section. This may vary region by region, but I didn't find it overbearing and prefer the UI to HyperOS. Hope that helps! Basil

Do you mean the 50 Pro? This depends on where you are. In India it is a close call as the 50 Pro is much cheaper. I also haven't used the 8GB RAM Nord 4 available in India. In Europe though, I would suggest the Nord 4 100%. I experience faster, smoother performance, superior battery life and the software promise makes it my winner. Basil
