- HIYA! Here is the full live DVD sans retour Voyage "derniere" ～encoure une fois～ by MALICE MIZER, in HD. I hope you enjoy this magnificent concert! It is really an experience to watch it all the way through, since the music is so varied.

The high points of this concert in my opinion are Uruwashiki kamen no shotaijou / 麗しき仮面の招待状, Tsuioku no kakera / 追憶の破片, Madrigal, ma chérie and of course the phenomenal regret, Kami & GACKT's duet.
As you might notice, this live is only about about 33 minutes long, that is because the band never released the other songs of the actual live. Both the VHS and DVD are like that. Not only did they not include most songs, but they also cut a lot of songs in half. The original live contained songs like premier amour, APRÈS MIDI, Kioku to Sora / 記憶と空, and even, crazly enough the debuts (I think) of Bel air / ヴェル・エール and ILLUMINATI. I wonder if these last two songs were different in this early stage than in the merveilles era.
I really hope some day we will see this full, and many other unseen lives in the future, like we had a little bit with the "sur TV" DVD in the merveilles box (uploaded on my channel). You can see in the ending credits they have much more video footage stored. But even though this is so cut, and merveilles l'espace is better in almost every way, it remains an amazing concert. I wrote "full live" in the title because it's the full DVD, the full released live, not the full actual live that we don't have, so no clickbait complaints please haha.
You might notice this is my second upload of this, and that is because this is much better. The biggest changes are a better sound quality, and it's actually the full DVD. It contains the bonus features N・p・s N・g・s and the interviews of Közi, Yu～ki and Mana. These are included in a different file of the DVD, so even if you convert it, you'll end up with three files. It took some time to mix them in it, and make it flowing, especially putting N・p・s N・g・s inbetween COLOR ME BLOOD RED and ma chérie, which I thought was the most fitting place. Like in my merveilles l'espace edit, I used audience sounds from another place of the DVD, and the intro of the CD version of ma chérie to make the transition flowing. As mentioned before, the sound quality is much better too, it was really butchered at some points, especially the piano part in my other upload. Sadly, there's still a few very small audio skips, just as in my Bel Air live (merveilles) upload, but that can't be helped. The video goes through three phases of converting/rendering, with different software and filters, and if it all is 1440p and 60FPS, of course it's going to have minor imperfections. The reason I keep it like that is because I cannot do anything about it, because it is still much better then other uploads, and because most go unnoticed since they're so small.
Another change I did was make the aspect ratio of the beginning more fitting to YT without stretching. The beginning of the DVD has 16:9 INSIDE 4:3, so black bars, making the video wider, but tinier. But at the end of Transylvania, in the transition to Uruwashiki, the ratio goes to 4:3 back for the rest of the concert. So instead of making the beginning so tiny in the screen, and cutting to 4:3 for the rest, I cropped the beginning to fit the whole screen (without stretching), and made it transition smoothly to 4:3. If you don't understand it, you can still see the original upload, or any other upload to see how it's on the DVD.
Fun fact: The full name of this concet is sans retour Voyage "derniere" ～encoure une fois～, and as a French speaker, the title is extremely funny to me, since it is completely broken French. No sentence structure, and unfitting words. They even wrote "encore" as "encoure". A translation would be like this:

The sheer amount of theatricality on display is downright amazing. It's a very rare band that can be both incredibly talented musically, yet at the same time put on a show like this and have it NOT be a gimmick.

What sucks about a lot of the old releases of concerts is that the length was held often short to either fit on a VHS tape or on 1 single-layered DVD (and not have to compress the everloving hell out of the sound and video). It would be so amazing if the missing footage still exists and was properly stored, and we could get a Blu-ray release.

@@rymaix Where have you seen that Midi:Nette doesn't exist anymore? The shopping website is still live and up to date, but I guess it doesn't have much employees, probably just Mana and some manager. I've never seen anything about it shutting down.
From what I've heard, we currently can't have access to unreleased footage because of copyright issues, I guess they just doesn't have the right to some specific music anymore, but I can't certify that as it's just hearsay.
That would be too big of a miracle, but it is all up to Mana.
That transition from ‘regret’ to ‘madrigal’ is soooo satisfying

I got the dvd and it's the same quality, almost. RUclips did lower the quality a bit (also surely cantavanda ripped it in a way that lost some quality, but really not that much)
After all, it was ported from VhS to dvd... And it's from the middle of the 90's....

Aside from the full context of MALICE MIZER's musical output (most of which I prefer over the music of this era), this is just an incredible piece of musical theatre. Thank you for sharing this video of distinguished cultural significance. I would love to watch it with English subtitles someday. That might make it more accessible to people outside the visual kei following.

i know this is 2 years old but i just had to say that when i first listened to this song i wasn’t expecting the second (...i guess i can call it like that) part. it just kicked in as a sudden, however really pleasing surprise to me, and i enjoyed every second of listening to it, almost to tears. this song, like most of their songs, is a beautiful masterpiece, which cannot be expressed with just words..

In the period Tetsu was the vocalist, the band didn’t drop any dvds or official videos at all, that’s why all videos of Tetsu in Malice Mizer are so low quality.

This band is such a mystery...I mean there seems to be so much content of us that have been filmed but haven't been published (?) Just like the concert at the end...To be honest, the fact that I can't see it is driving me crazy haha
But it's not all, there are many strange things about MM concerts. For exemple, some concerts have been mixed together, and it even seems that some part of this concert (or a similar one) have been cut (those during the representation of Ma Cherie).
If someone knows more about it, please respond to this comment :) do we have to buy special DVD to see content that isn't on RUclips or has it just never been realised ?
I agree, this band is the biggest mystery ever. People who attended to their concerts were so lucky!
Anyway, these are not good news but Mana did Q&A few years ago and someone asked him about old MM footage:
”Q: A few years ago all three original Malice Mizer members shared photos of boxes full of VHS tapes of the band. Is there any chance this sort of old footage will ever be released to the public?
A: There is all kinds of rare footage I'd love to show you, but it's not that easy due to copyright problems.”

@@bahe3977 they aren’t performing as nazis lol. they’re performing as imperial japanese soldiers. wwii is viewed a lot differently in japan. in the west we’re taught about the war crimes committed by the japanese during wwii but never those committed by the allies against japan which a lot of the time were worse. if you look up those war crimes in english you won’t find anything but if you look them up in japanese you can find a lot. the usa put laws in place after the war to try not to let that information out but you can still find it. and yet nobody would get angry at american musicians for wearing an american wwii uniform

Yeah, I know this was an alt band from 90s Japan who doesn't even make music anymore.... So I'm not gonna go that deep into political correctness or "cancel culture". However, it's disappointing because I love everything else about this band. And doesn't Mana and Kozi have a background set in the punk scene? I don't know anything about 80-90s Japanese-punk ideology, but I was going to assume that its mostly anti-imperialism and military visuals we're shock factor. Compare it to some nazi imagery seen in the 70s punk sense of Britain or here in the U.S. My personal (unasked for) conclusion is that it's a VERY ignorant piece of shock performance. And it translates horribly from that specific Japanese view to a modern western view.
@@princessai4162 As said above, Asian and Japanese don't have the same view on WWII as us, in Europe or US. I assume this is either a terrible move from them (but knowing the context and the strong feeling of imperialism still existing in Japan) or, as I have always thought, it is a mix of possible provocation and parody of wars in general, with the DIE GAME chorus. It doesn't help that the lyrics are quite chaotic and cryptic, it may have helped understanding their choice.
