  • Firstly I’d like to point out that I hate my voice which is why I chose not to speak when I created videos previously. I did think about not speaking in this one but I would have to have done so much typing I would have worn out my screen protector!
    The plus side of having narrated this video is I don’t need to type so much here 😁
    I talked about a couple of Etsy websites that I’ve used and here are the links to them both:
    www.etsy.com/a...
    www.etsy.com/a...
    As I sell my jewellery I buy some of my findings from vendors on AliExpress, good prices if you’re not in a great hurry as postage can take several weeks. I have tried Amazon but there really isn’t the choice or value available here in Australia compared to the USA. Do your research and you’ll find what suits you best but buyer beware - if it seems too good to be true it probably is 😉
    As always, thank you for watching,
    Sara

    I have used silicone cutting mats or plastic sheets that you can get at Dollar tree a 2pk and it is so simple and easy to just peel the skins off after you have let them dry... I have also dipped my cavachons in the wet paint and they come out beautiful

    I find pouring my paint on a silicone cutting mat makes it so much easier to take it off after the paint has dried all you do is roll the silicone mat up and the skin loosens up and you can pull it right off, I also dip my cabochons in the paint after I have ported it makes it one less gluing process it's very simple

      That’s what got me started with making jewellery, I had covered my table with plastic and allowed the run off paint to dry. It was so pretty that I started researching ways to use it. It didn’t take long to find some and as I didn’t have enough skins to cover a fridge, I made pendants. 😁

    I enjoyed this video and your voice is great! I have been making jewelry for several months and enjoy it so much, but still learning. I like your plastic for skins. Where do you buy. I use freezer paper, but lije the option of viewing both sides. My biggest problem is a shinieness behibd the glass...all is ruined. I have been blaming it on the silicone in the pour, but have been cleaning my pours well and still getting some shinieness. Im now thinking it is from the Glue...Diamond Glaze. I use it also for the gluing the cabachon in the tray. I like your E6000 way...less mess, but I think my problem in the glue between glass and skin. Any suggestions? You video is very informative...thanks so much! One more ? Where do you order the bracelets?

      Hi Tara, I’m lucky enough to have a hubby who is a graphic designer. He was able to print my logo on to some quality card at work. I then cut them to size, folded them, snipped a couple of slots for the chain and used a drawing pin to pierce holes for earrings. I also had a strip of card about 2cm wide that I wrapped around the card to hold it in its closed position. It was time consuming but people seemed to like it. I think I got the idea from Pinterest originally 🙂

      @@dswatik99 the silicone is what causes the paint to develop cells. You can substitute the silicone for hair oil with coconut or argon. You only need a few drops so a bottle will last quite some time!

    Hi they are beautiful. Could you guide with the proportions used to make the pour. I am new and each video is different. Trying to understand what is best since I want to make jewelry too
    The paint-quantity
    Glue quantity
    Water quantity
    Medium(name and quantity)

    • @saranewman-king1295
      @saranewman-king1295  5 лет назад

      sindhya jegan Hi Sindhya, welcome to the world of acrylic pouring! I use floetrol as a pouring medium and have always been happy with the results.
      I don’t use glue and rarely add water. I generally use a ratio of 1part paint to four or five parts floetrol.
      My advise to you is to experiment to find what works best for you. And have fun doing it! 😁

    Cah-boo-shons AS YOI SAY IT makes me nutz. CAB (LIKE A TAX)-O-SHONZ is how it is PRONOUNCED BY ANYONE & EVERYONE. yOUR VIDEO WAS OK, BUT EVERYTIME YOU MISPRONOUNCED CABOCHONS IT WAS ANNOYING. PLEASE SAY IT CORRECTLY FROM NOW ON--otherwise people who do not know jewelry terminology will be running around emulating you and saying CAH-BOO-SHONS AS YOU DO & SOUNDING a bit off kilter.

    • @shirleylong5261
      @shirleylong5261 2 года назад +1

      Pauli is correct in the way it should be pronounced. HOWEVER, you certainly could have been a little nicer in how you pointed it out to her. Your tone was quite rude. If someone corrected you in that manner, how would you feel?

    • @paulicymet9756
      @paulicymet9756 2 года назад +1

      @@shirleylong5261 TO SHIRLEY-my response is that I would be GRATEFUL that someone pointed out my gaffe, so I didn't continue sounding off the grid, and so that anyone watching/hearing wouldn't emulate me and subsequently have people look at them like they were daft. The video is a "teaching video", so the teacher has to be prepared & accurate, or should I say, SHOULD BE. Even accounting for someone speaking a different language than English, should that be the case, jewelers worldwide say cabochons properly, even with a foreign accent-NOT CA-BOOOO-shonz. You confuse RUDE with CANDID, by the way. and clearly do not know me, or the difference between both words.. And do I care what you think--NOT FOR A NANOSECOND, as you are someone seeking an argument, and beyond this response, I am not playing INTO your game. I only replied because I see where you are coming from, & I wanted to DEFUSE your s-it disturbing move!!! There's often one such person in a crowd, & we have found her in YOU! The rest of the readers/viewers of this page, only want to learn how to create skins...not looking to see an argument between two viewers. SHAME ON YOU!

      I’ve learned a lot since I made this video and one thing was the proper pronunciation of cabochon. I read recently that a person mispronouncing a word is someone who’s probably only ever read the word, as was the case for me.
      Rest assured that my cab-o-shons are correctly articulated at every opportunity even if I do use lower case 🙂.

      Sarah, Wow...just Wow. I actually enjoy your voice! This video may have been the ONE video that changes how I should move forward in my paint pouring venture. I've watched a ton of videos! I've been doing everything under the sun, but have not dabbled in jewelry making as of yet. I have tons of skins that I have saved in a 5 year period. I knew one day I'd be doing the jewelry. I think after watching you, it's time for me to stop the madness of attempting to do canvas painting, vases, and anything I can get my hands on to pour. I've not sold much, simply because technology and I don't get along very well😯, and craft fairs are scarce in my area. My husband loves my work and has faith in my abilities, that he built me an art studio in the backyard. A two story building! It's almost complete! I can't wait! He built it all by himself. He's a keeper💗
      So thank you Sarah for doing this video. I truly believe you've changed my outlook at this crazy thing we love to call ART! ❤
