The KK707 looks an awful lot like the Austrian Audio OC707. Seems a bit lacking in the low end compared to the other mics, but maybe a bit of proximity effect would warm it up. Then again, in a mix with a touch of EQ would I be able to hear a difference? I'm not sure. Interesting.
Every other mic sounded better than the KK707 (so glad they didn't put a third letter K in the name of the microphone). The KK707 sounds hollow / tinny top end and has a lot of sizzle. Now for $50 it's better than a lot of other microphones out there. The Lauten Audio LS-208 sounds so nice on your voice. I would love to hear your review of the Sennheiser MKH-50 for indoor dialog. T-shirt has been ordered.
I fully agree with your assessment! And yes, I’m also glad they stopped at only two Ks hahaha. The LS-208 is a special mic! I love it so! As for the MKH-50… oh man. I’m looking to grab one. Perhaps in the fall. That’ll be a great video. Thanks for ordering a shirt! I hope it fits and is ok. Mine was a little big but seems a good quality. RUclips offers a partnership with Spreadshirt, so I just submit my designs and they take care of the rest. Tell me how you like it. Thanks again!!
@@TheRecordist After I get back from my workshop / vacation, I would be willing to send my MKH-50 to you to give it a try for a few weeks, if you are interested. I would love to hear how it sounds in your studio.
@@The-Logician really? Are you sure you want to ship that? What’s that… $1500 CAD? My goodness. But I would absolutely love to test it out in the studio. Compare mics. If you’re ok sending that, then I’m more than happy to review it and send it back! I really appreciate the offer! Thank you!
@@TheRecordist Yeah I still have the original hard case and manufacturers packing materials so shipping is not a problem and there's shipping insurance in case it ever got lost. I'll get in touch when I get back from this trip.
The Bai Fei Li KK707 & The Lauten Audio LS-208 sound very close. If you weren't paying attention you would never know and your voice is awesome on the KK707 much of a smoother sound with the bass not blasting out.
Has anyone seen the V10 equivalent pop up on Amazon? Looks like a beauty. I just tested out the C414 I ordered from Alibaba (received in about 10 days for about US$73 shipped) and I was quite impressed.
I just found this. It looks similar to the V10 but it’s got a 25mm capsule and it’s darker: amzn.to/3KXpNpT So far that’s all I could find. I’m sure the real V10 will be stocked at Amazon soon.
Nicely done. Another BFL winner at a crazy low price point. That waterfall sound you heard may have been the initial onrush of current into the capacitors as they fill up with their capacitive capacity.
Haha. Yes. Felt like a cap thing. But it’s fine now. I’m still partial to the C-414 if I was to pick a cheap BFL. And I have you to thank about that one! That’s where I heard it first!

Hey. I know it appears to be different placements but I always try to keep the mics the same distance from my mouth hole. At least I hope I did this time. It’s strange when I see the video play back and the spacial illusions it creates.
@@TheRecordist mhm I though so ahah I'm glad with the quality put in place for these vids :D But you do have it pointing from different angles, where some you get more "body" resonances. Idk the word in English. So that's more what I though could slightly change the sound in these tests

There are so many things people use mics for; serious production RUclips channel, "just starting" RUclips channel, film production, voice over, field recording, and on and on. Bai Fei Li is really surprising me with their products. However, undercutting the competition in pricing has long been a strategy of Chinese companies. They are certainly hitting the "good enough" mark with these mics for some applications at these prices.

@@TheRecordist - Agreed. Their BF-414 is quite a mic for the price. The proximity effect on it is sexy as well. Right now my MK-4 fills my VO needs. If I ever need to step up from that I thank you for introducing me to Lauten. I think I would go for one of their products.
I was thinking about the reliability/qc/unit variability like you said. Is buying second hand mics a thing? Or would you not trust a mic that could be full of the ghosts of another man’s plosives?
Hahaha. Well said! Yes, buying used mics is definitely a thing. Many people do it. It’s a great way to save a bit of money on an expensive mic. Most audio gear is constantly bought, sold, swapped, or stolen. Haha.

Yes, I can tell. Every mic had it's personal little sound. I chose the M201 TG from Beyer Dynamic.
