    The rapid edits on this one are pure fire! Very engaging. I can only think that if Olu came at me with that face, I could instantly get 4 more pull ups from all the weight I would drop in my shorts.

    • @foobengaming
      @foobengaming 6 лет назад +6

      If it is still in your shorts it would still be weight you would have to pull just like with a dip belt. Better to always pull up without pants so if you drop something it won't hinder you anymore.

    I don't know if you'll see this because you posted the video 4 days ago, but I just got 405 for a single squat. I'm 15. Also I love your channel. Currently chilling at 375lbs for 6. Perfecting the form at this weight then going for broke to hit 405 in a few months! Thank you so much for these bracing tips and synergistic tips.

    Watched your first pull-up tutorial and learned about the importance of the "belly breath" and my pull-ups improved. Watched this video before performing weighted 5x5 weighted pull-ups (increasing the weight five pounds from last week) and getting the belly breath BEFORE I grabbed the bar allowed me to keep the breath held for every rep and complete all my reps. I consistently become a better lifter after watching your videos. Keep them coming...and watch out for rabid Olus.

    This came on a day when I found out my knee is injured and I won't be able to squat or deadlift for a few weeks at least, meaning I have to concentrate entirely on upper body movements and core - while it's fortunate timing, and these tips are helpful, nothing was more useful for getting more pull-ups than imagining Olu running at me.

Sometimes I'll add weight up to 45lbs. On other body part days I may do 2-3 sets of pullups/chinups but only do say 6-8 reps. Has worked good for me. Hope I can keep it up.

    So Brian you talk about the body working synergistically which makes sense but I’m confused about tip #3 and why you would open up your hips if it prevents you from squeezing your quads and some other muscle groups which would help you exert more force into the pullup

    Hey Brian,
    Beginning part of the video about hands got me (probably) over thinking something; but does it really matter which grip one uses in the pronated pull up, false or full? Is there any serious pros/cons to either one?

    • @joshjohnston7388
      @joshjohnston7388 6 лет назад +2

      Thomas Aldrich your grip will engage different muscles differently, but not very much differently. You get the least biceps involvement with a pronated grip, most with a supine grip, which is why most people find chin ups easier. At my gym, different racks have different handles, so some days, I'm doing traditional pull ups, some days neutral grip, and some days it is traditional or supine grip over the square frame (because there are no pull up handles on that one). One rack (I hate it) is clearly for some tall-ass people because the handles are so damn far apart, I can only get five or six reps. It just depends on which rack is open that day. I don't fuss much about it. I mentally adjust my rep/+weight goal based on my experience with each. Seems to work out. The more I learn about this stuff, the less it seems that tiny details like which grip to use matter in the long run, unless you have a condition or injury that limits what you can do safely. For myself, I just mark what variation i did at what weight for what reps and remind myself that, "a good fighter has no weapon preference. They know the performance of each, and their relative strengths and weaknesses." -Miyamoto Musashi, paraphrased.

    Hi Brian, doesn't really apply to this video but since it's new hoping you're still checking notifications. Started trying to add Nordic curls to my program like you talked about in a recent post but everytime I try one my hamstrings cramp up intensely within the first 15 degrees of motion, really bad I have to abort the rep to avoid a major issue. Is this a flexibility or strength issue? I can squat and pull over 300, but I can't come close to touching my toes with straight legs. I get the same cramp(not as bad though) when I do pullups with bent knees, if the bar isn't high enough to keep my legs straight I can't do more than like 5 pull ups without my hams cramping. Any tips?

    • @BrianAlsruheOfficial
      @BrianAlsruheOfficial  6 лет назад

    No that's not a false grip. For a false grip you have to bend your wrist and set the bar at the heel of your palm. Google it.
