I’d like to see the strength and durability of the mounting point of the bipod. And of the whole bipod as a unit. I’m really thinking of scenarios where the rifle gets dropped on the bipod, either deployed or not. Also thinking about catching the bipod on something. Easiest way for me to think about that is catching the bipod while slamming into or pulling out of a PRS style port or maybe catching the bipod or a tree or limb while out hiking. All the potential abuse while not actually using the bipod.
Looking forward to this series. I think you said it right when you said you have to pick the right one for the use case. Now I’m looking forward to seeing you justify the Magpul over some of the cheaper options like the eBay or Amazon specials. How much better is it than a $30 bipod from china? Also interested in your thoughts on tall bipods since some of us hunt in areas where the foliage and terrain isn’t conducive to using a “standard” length bipod.

i would like application for every bipod to touch the 3 main uses being Tactical, PRS, hunting. And speak to each product in those roles.

For me, recoil management is number one when it comes to bipods. Recoil is number 1 and tilt locking is number 2. If it's bouncing around I don't care for it. Having some slack in the hinge joint is a good thing for me because it allow the rifle to recoil and return to battery with moving the feet at all. If it's a heavy recoiling gun then I'd rather have the feet slide instead of trying to grip and start bouncing. I hate bounce in a bipod.

I went from a Magpul bipod to an Accu-Tac FC-4. Man what a world of difference. For 5.56 ARs I've used a FAB Defense Spike and a MDT GRND and they're a pretty good option for that platform. Honestly, the FAB is a lot better than Magpul.

Not sure how you would measure it but the “base” height of each bipod seems to be a concern for many, some finding the magpul “too tall” and a Harris “too short”etc

Spartan valhalla and the springbok are my favorite.
Springbok just fits my use case. Thick coast rarely shoot over 300 yards. It's so quick, light, and fast to adjust big or small.

My bipod of choice is the no longer available Underwood collapsible shooting sticks. Grass and brush is too tall in the country I typically hunt. Speed of height adjustment is superior and if I need to be able to swing firearm quickly they can be dropped and you don’t have to worry about a fixed attachment catching on brush.

Not sure how this will be recieved, but here we go. I only use a bipod while sitting. If it's not tall it does me no good. That is either because 1 where I hunt the grass is too tall for a prone shot, 2 I use my backpack for prone shots, or 3 I'm trying to shoot horizontally across a canyon so terrain slopes down or I'm at the bottom trying to shoot upward. I really wish I had a better solution, but the thing I end up packing on every rifle ends up being the long Harris one or some really light wieght homemade shooting sticks. They are just long enough to do what I need. Not going to recommend harris because they are loud, heavy, dig into my shoulder with a sling, rust quick as shit here in AK, and can be finicky to get the legs the right lengths. But it does have enough travel in the legs to get the job done. Realistically I should just spend the money for a stiff light tripod that can do sitting and standing and slap an arca plate on my rifles because I'm kinda over the whole tripod thing at this point.

I have a couple magpul bipods. Mlok and 1913. The mlok stays on one rifle mostly cuz its a bitch to take on and off.
The 1913 has a kinetic development group mlok to 1913 qd mount. This quick detatch bipod/mount is a game changer. It locks up solid on my geiselle rails but some rails might require fitting.

Do you have the elevate bypod from gunwerks? One thing to compare might be removing the bipod. They can occasionally be in the way and if you can get it off with one hand and not have to set the rifle on the butt to get it off would be helpful. Thumbs screws are not great for this, levers are better but can leave you with a poor grip and cause you to drop a bypod thus making noise. The gunwerks grab the whole bipod and twist seems like a good way to remove it quickly and securely. Are there others like it?

You seem to leave off real world bipod uses though. For instance, the feets on my Caldwell are large enough to hold my 16" NON-suppressed varmint rifle when I flip one leg out to use as a tree hanger. Those little feets on your tacticool pods slip off limbs and drop your gun. Yes, I put mine on backwards so I can do that + the bipod doesn't look all gunsell sticking out in front past my barrel.
