My mom grew up in Estancia her whole family lived there at times, they were the Merritt family, my aunt married a rancer named lloyd garland and had a ranch there until aunt Opal passed.
You missed the beautiful park in Estancia with a huge fishing pond. We also have the only pool in the East Mountains, which is right next to the park. Ive lived here 7 years now. Loved your video
Wow, i didn't know. I'll have to find it next time out there. Thank you!
Used to live in Moriarty and go to the church on the left as you're entering Edgewood! The Walmart there was huge, I remember my Dad working as a "cowboy" for one of the desert attractions with live buffalo on the ranch in Edgewood. Pretty awesome places, with beautiful wide open skies and views of the mountains. Thank you for sharing!
I stopped to eat in Moriarty once while driving a long long way from "home” in South Texas.
I was looking for an escape from Texas, a new job & a new start. I drove around Moriarty a little while checking the place out & it looked exactly like the kind of place where I wanted to start a new life.
Only problem was jobs.. I’m not a cowboy so there wasn’t really anything there I could find that would pay enough to make a decent living. That was about 15 years ago & im still a little sad I couldn’t stay there coz it looked like a great place to live, the people seemed nice so finding a nice wife there seemed like a possibility & it felt like a nice place to bring a little baby or two into the world.
But just didn’t happen.
@@fromchopin good luck 💪
Thank you for watching, I really enjoy your company on these little adventures!!! see you soon... :)
In case you did know, this house in Moriarty is an old Sears house ordered from the catalog way back when. I love this house.
Yeah, someone below commented that. That's awesome, thank you!
That house was built from a Sears catalog kit
The road that you drove from Moriarty to Edgewood is the old 66 before the interstate was ever built and as you pass through Moriarty there was a spiked retro ball on top of a building the building used to be Mike's store Mike was a relative of the governor Mike Anaya and the spiked ball on top of that building is one of the last ones in the United States. Estancia is where the Torrance County Sheriff's Department is at which I used to work at and there is a lot of history in all three towns. I used to live in Albuquerque and then I moved to Moriarty and live there for about 15 years it's grown up a lot most people work in Albuquerque good video
Thank you so much!
Salt water mission trails
I live in Edgewood. We drove out to Estancia a couple years ago during the Dog Head fire and I remember that old house (took some pictures of it).
Edgewood is not really a small town I deliver out there with fedex lol shit is big
Yes, small town spread out big time.
The first town he shows is Estancia and its where I go to the Mile Long yard sale which was held along the street but I think its been moved to the park there. Good Buys !!
Very cool! Thank you for the comment ...
Still on the street
great video
I believe that we have driven through here driving south to Mountainair back in October. I recognize the American flag painted on that building. Thanks for sharing I know that we also passed through Moriarty
Around 8:20 you get in the left lane to go south on 344, but then at 8:22 the video jumps to you being on 344 but going north (with LDS church on your left). As you passed that church, I live about .8 miles behind you.
Dude u rush to quick through your video's slow down u miss to much there a lot to see good luck bro
That was 1 and 1/2 years ago, hopefully you'll see an improvement now.
