both r iconic. denise is such a great winner, how she managed to survive every tribal councils of her season. abi is just such a great character and very entertaining for me.
Philippines is such an underrated season. Some great characters!

Denise was masterful with her words. You can clearly see her clinical skills at play in this season dealing with different personalities and especially, with someone as difficult as Abi. Denise always maintained her composure and civility even when she was extremely frustrated with Abi's antics. The irony , of course, is that Abi was the only person to recognize that Denise was a huge threat to win. It really is amazing how no one considered taking Abi to the end and dumping Denise. The fact that Abi still voted for Denise to win speaks volumes at how good Denise's social game is even when it came to dealing with her biggest nemesis.
@@josharguello4313 i disagree with you when it comes to her social game at least when it comes to Abi, she was very condescending towards her. I think in the end, Abi voted for her due to her coming from the worst odds/ attending every tribal council. Denise had the strongest story out of the final 3.
@@jacksonriley6862 That may be true, but considering how difficult Abi was to be around and how no one could really deal with her, I dont blame Denise for struggling with her and talking down to her at times. Abi behaved as a petulant child at best and a heinous bitch at worst. I think Abi ended up voting for Denise because she respected Denise more than she respected Skupin and Lisa.

@@josharguello4313 being a brasilian myself I will say that a lot of her personality is cultural difference because we are very loud and blunt people, she reminds me of my mom, my grandma, almost all of my uncles and aunts and being in the environment she was in and everyone being as against her as they were she started being on the defense as much as she could which caused her to act like a “petulant child/heinous bitch” using your words when she was just trying to either be herself or defend her spot and she got I think a very crappy edit to be in favor of Denise since she won, but probably 80% of the issues was cultural 5% was the game and 5% was her personality

The stranger thing is that i love both Abi and Denise so much in this season and i love it that in the end Abi did vote for her to win despite everything. A great winner and a great villan in the same season

I love that Abi asked if they were talking about her and she heard her name, and they all stayed silent. That moment showed each persons character to a T.

Though Denise is a great winner gameplay-wise, I was always disgusted by the way she would constantly gaslight and patronize Abi, trying to make her seem “even crazier”. Like when she was talking crap about her with Lisa and Skupin, then acting like Abi’s crazy for confronting her, as if there was no reason for it.
What bugged me as well was her dismissal of the idea that cultural differences played a role in Abi's attitude. Which while not racist, is definitely really ignorant. Overall, I do think she does deserve some criticism, but it definitely didn't justify being ganged up on and being called crazy.
@@SmoothCriminal12 I also think she was trying very hard to manipulate Abi to have a mental breakdown (which i honestly think they should make a rule about cause it can cause long-term trauma) and the fact that she's a therapist makes me not wanna ever have her as my therapist or come across a therapist like her. You wouldn't even be able to know if she's manipulating you or helping you.

Denise gives these descriptions of Abbi and the only thing that it makes me feel is that Denise is completely unaware of that she too can be just as awful as the behavior she accuses Abbi of

2:30 Denise is super manipulative like Tom from Survivor: Palau. She creates the appearance for the jury that she is playing an "honorable" game by loudly announcing she will be leaving Abi-Maire, the most obvious goat, out of the final four, while quietly taking the other deadweights (Lisa and Michael) to the final four. If there were any sincerity to her claim Penner and Carter should be sitting in those two seats.

Denise really isn't any of those things. Abi just pushes people too much. Literally everyone Abi was around she drove crazy. Even reasonable people like Denise.
Denise and Abi are complete opposites. Abi is very blunt and direct, while Denise tends to beat around the bush and evasive to a fault.

She’s such good TV, I’m glad they brought her back later on. They should have listened to her when she was warning them that Denise or Malcolm would absolutely win if they made it to the end. I absolutely would have flipped, because she’s right.
I really like both of them but it kind of seems like Denise is trying to make Abi seem more like the bad person.

Abi didn't need Denise to make her look bad. Abi's bad behavior was exhibited constantly and was commented on by every single member of the tribe. Denise is the only one that didn't let Abi off the hook, get intimidated by her antics or try to avoid a confrontation with her. Maybe because Denise works as a therapist she was better than others at addressing Abi's bad behavior directly, but I don't think anything Denise said to her was cruel or malicious. However, the best thing that happened to Denise's game is to have Abi on the tribe. So much attention was devoted to Abi that people neglected to see what a huge threat Denise was to win the game. Nothing unites people as having a common enemy, and Abi's obnoxiousness ensured that the majority remained on Denise's side. Denise is the only contestant to go to every single tribal in a season and still win the game.
Abi’s personality is bad to begin with.

denise was far more manipulative than abi. abi was a mess but she was honest to a fault. denise played the saint and covertly directed tension towards evil abi while making it seem like she was cornered to do so. in the real world, denise is the kind of person to keep an eye out for lol. very entertaining regardless.

It’s rich seeing Skupin comment on Abi’s condition
Abi’s personality type might not have been the favorite of her tribe mates, but I would argue she does have the survivor spirit in her own little way. The continuous reference to her cultural barriers, emphasizing a separation between her and everyone else, forcing her into the role of “other” was ridiculous and alienating. Abi’s high voice and feminine nature was frustrating to her tribe but her behavior clearly was influenced by her strong Latin roots and the exhausting duty to defend herself constantly. Her struggle to defend herself was met with the knowledge of being “dead weight” and the least “like able” or relatable according to the others via Denise. I think she could sense that Denise was devoted to picking at her and projecting a lot of unfair jealousy and prejudice onto Abi. There was a lot of mean spirited energy thrown her way and I think she got fed up, especially knowing she was being ganged up on. Denise was condescending and patronizing and seemed she wanted more than to get Abi voted off but to actually inflict hurt upon her because she was honest about her feelings and was bright and cute. She didn’t deserve such harshness just because she called people out for being disrespectful towards her.
This is the most revisionist review of abi I’ve ever read. She was unreasonable and confrontational. There’s not much to it. People were nice to her early on, but her personality started to grind on people. That’s it.

However, I do think some of it was the edit making her look worse than she was, not to mention Pete basically pitting her and RC against each other also plays a role. It says a lot when there's not a lot of criticism going towards Abi after the show and RC is seen as a bitter bitch.
