Thanks for your video! I have the green ones for several years now. Their babies appear near the top of the stems then can be separated when they are about 1.5 inches. I just bought a variegated one today. : ) woohoo! : )
Thank you!! I have 1 and its tiny still its hard to find information about it. I appreciate your videos!! For anyone wondering....I have my spiral ginger in ambient humidity and my house is pretty dry. I have it right up under a grow light on a shelf with several other plants si that might add some humidity but it's not crispy. Idk how to post a pic lol.
My spiral gingers grow wild in the States . I put a stem in the ground , to my amazement it grew. I never grew them indoors. Thank you for the information. Ours grow 8 feet tall.
I'd love to view the first video on the spiral ginger but I can't find it. My son gave me a green spiral ginger and it's doing fine (as far as I can tell) in a regular humidity environment (my living room). I have not fertilized it and water it about once a week. Thanks for this video. I have subscribed and plan to watch some of your other videos.
Aw thanks, here is the second video ruclips.net/video/WbgtuDJfI6A/видео.html I also did one a while ago on IG here: instagram.com/tv/CKDlsEtAUoR/? perfect the conditions sound good, also good to know that it grows happily in a normal household humidity. ahhh glad to have you on board, i hope you enjoy the videos
I have one in my livingroom, without extra humidity. My humidity is, at the highet 40% now. You can see it in my plant circle unboxing video. Lost most of the lowest leafes, but han re-potted in a bigger self watering pot.
After 3 months with my plant! I bought not knowing what she was ! She had no name just a price tag and was very sad so I bought it and it’s been dropping leaves on me many of them just died! And I think today when I finally found out what she is that I had been treating her like overall most houseplants.. when she needs difuse light and more water and humidity than my other plants!! Poot thing was giving signals and I was lost 😢😅. Hopefully now with some of your tips and info I might re establish her to her glory!
Just the comment I was looking for! I tried to propagate my variegated spiral ginger and but of the non head cuttings failed and about half of the head cuttings failed. Even the ones that were successful looked like they were dying the whole time and took forever to actually do something. Do you think I'd be more successful if I took cuttings from younger stems? Most of the new growth of the plant has been >90% white and I didn't want to take a cutting that was just going to die (the plant isn't having any problems maintaining so much dead weight at the moment but I don't know how sustainable this is, especially when the seasons change and the days get shorter).
@@themapoe if you are having a challenge the cuttings taken closest to the base should be easier to root, if you have a plant the best way is by root division though, older ones should be ok, but from basal you could try a young cutting and see what happens.
Thankyou ♡ I have one about 2 weeks. They are very special plants arent they?! Do you have to turn it to encourage spiraling? Do you need to stake it or is it best to let it support itself.
Yes very special plants for sure. I have never turned mine for spiraling, but then mine doesn't spiral too well, might need to try that 🤔. Never supported mine, it is doing well so far without a stake
Thanks for your video!

First time seeing a variegated one. The non-variegated one likely grows better
Hi, just came across your video. Wanted to know if you’ve come across leaves tip getting yellow/brown? Any antidotes to it?

Hi, most of these ginger (family ) plants do grow from cuttings also.

my costus leaves are starting to turn yellow, why? has diffused light, is not shed, no pests can be seen, what to do?
Is it staying wet for too long maybe? If it is lower leaves, it might just be them dying off due to age 🤔
@@Houseplantygoodness thanks for your answer!
how much water do you put?
I use hydrospikes so it kinda waters itself. Before I used the hydrospikes it was getting watered every 2-3 days in the summer in my environment 😬😬😬
