Yep this looks horrendous? I'm more excited for Monsters and Memories at this point. I feel bad that CohhCarnage invested money into this and I hope he gets it back but Pantheon is trash.

I would say I have a very open minded, and very long runway of patience for devs BUT I can't say ANYTHING I just saw was even remotely impressive if I am being 100% and entirely honest.
The old graphics were SO GOOD. It's sad they could not stay on that course.
If he posted this with no cobtext or title, it looks like hes playing an ancient mmo from the early 2000s, and thats being generous.
How are they excited about the state of this game? If you look at videos from 7 years ago...the graphics and gameplay are actually worse now. What is going on?
Because they aren't being genuine. People gave them money to make a game and now they have to pretend like it's doing well so when they run out of money they can say they tried.

Good Lord, I had completely forgotten about this game. Kudos to them for developing it, but a “long ways to go” after a decade isn’t very promising. Hopefully it comes out in short order if they want to capture an audience before Ashes of Creation does.
I really admire people that can stick with following games like this for so long, I just don't have the staying power. 10 years in the making and hearing 'There's a long way to go' tagged on the end of it just seems crazy to me. But I hope everyone that's interested and invested get what they want out of it.

At this point i dont see much point in many of these newer unreleased MMOs. This, AoC....it's better to just stick with older ones.

yeh read their tenents haha they have in there "player involvement is required for progression" and "no single player should be able to do anything on their own" haha they don want anyone to be able to do anything solo haha, these devs might shit on WoW ALOT (i also hate wow) but at least that game has group finders so even a solo player can play the game feel sorry for the backers of the game haha another start citizen where the game they are getting is nowhere near what they originally backed haha

They are really going for the oldschool look. For 20 years of work this looks like a game from the 90s.
I've been a Pantheon backer for over 5 years now, but keep missing all of the playtests. Really hoping this game is fun. :)

I love EQ classic with how it is now where you still need to be careful, but a group does not have to be fixed classes. You can have 3 rangers a mage and a clr and not care who is invited for the 6th spot. To have the freedom to invite more people makes more groups happen. If Pantheon can pull off what Vanguard and modern EQ has for groups... then its good!

I've been following Pantheon since it was first announced and I was super excited to get another EQ type MMO. I'll be honest - this looks a lot worse since they made the major graphic changes and such. =/ Everything is looking clunky and pretty lame. I'm really not interested anymore. This is such a bummer.

At the Beginning i would Love to Play it, but since it takes ages and nothing happend and the new Look looks realy ugly, i am out.

I don't get all the negative commentary, the game was never about looks but about replicating oldschool MMO experience. And even graphics I kinda like.
Wow... I was mildly interested in checking this out but with the "pledge" system being so spendy for a very unpolished looking 10 year development of a game... I think I'll pass. If it releases as free to play I might give it a go but the price for the product is absolutely a ripoff.

Well they are both different kind of mmos and I know it’s crazy, but people play multiple MMOs. And neither this or AoC are even out. Until they both come out, neither is a released game that’s playable

When a game that's been in development for over a decade looks like it was made in 2002, just saying...
it looked better 7 years ago, compare the cohh videos from back then... it also had more playable races... it managed to develop backwards with only humans with the same face and beard and hair being available :D

It's an old skool style mmo, that's how it's supposed to look. In fact I preferred the old art style that looked even more old skool!

I don't care about the graphics; I still play the original Everquest. What is important is newer systems that can create the same grouping environment of EQ.
Hopefully they can pull that off (tester's seem to say so).

Normally I love these kind of niche, indie spotlights Cohh does with devs, but wow. Hearing about this game ages ago and seeing screenshots made me get a bit hyped but this just feels idk, bad? It looks like a 2004 version of games I made in my 3D animation classes back in college. It's pretty brutal, but here's hoping that if I stay positive with it they'll surprise me on release?
Sorry Cohh but looks like you missplaced your money; I understand the ambition but compared to so many alternatives out there this simply won't have the playerbase it needs.
The art style is goofy, too niche.
It's quite close to a WoW clone.
It already lost the faith of the consumer due to it's delays & slow progress.
It brings nothing new, it's just polishing an old system that existed already and even at that it doesn't excel.

If they already have 10+ years with this game, and it was releasing this year, or maybe next, then okay. But at 10+ years, it still looks like its at least 2+ years out as a conservative estimate. More like a 3-5 year full release time to be ready.... I don't think its going to release at all. I think they're going to run out of money long before then. And it doesn't look good at all.

I find the game relaxing and I understand redeveloping the art style to be able to more quickly produce content if that's what happened. I just hope enough people play it that the funding allows them to grow upon the base they've made.

I've been pretty negative every time i saw footage of this game, but i gotta say: the improvements finally make an impact. Presentation is so much better with the new graphics and some music. Atmosphere in nighttime is pretty good. I still don't think i am the target audience for pantheon with it being so heavily focused on group play, but i can see this going places finally.
Still much work to do though.

Honestly that's true. There will be soloing opportunities but its not that type of game. If you're looking for that, you're better off looking elsewhere.

What the hell happened to this game? Look up screenshots and videos from 10 years ago, it looked incredible. They've completely ruined it. Brad McQuaid would be so sad to see it look like this.

I don't mind the art style (having not seen the original), and this looks quite interesting being only the second time I've seen it and a massive improvement over that last time. It might be a difficult sell based on the comments but this might just find it's place, hell, I'd be interested to give it a go even though I've not tried this kind of MMO before.
I can't go against most of the comments here... I love how Cohh is invested in this and the devs deserve it, but there is no way this game can catch up with audience. Let's be honest here... But shout out to the devs for putting, STILL, so much effort in this project. Good luck

It looks pretty good but it doesn't seem to be bringing any uniqueness or innovation or any reason to prefer it over its competition. This plus the extremely long development time and it already becoming outdated are factors that make it less likely to succeed...
I like the music.
The UI definitely needs works, looks like its just placeholder but I think definitely an art pass on it would help to sell the game better.
The art style looks old and dated, they should do a UE5 lighting pass on it or add some landmarks around the map as what it is it feels generic and can look like it comes from any game. For it being the first map, I think you should set dress it more to set the benchmark of the world.
I think so far other than the weather/stamina mechanic I am not seeing anything different from any other mmo but since you have the climb mechanic, you have the leeway to expand on the map and level design and add more discovery along the way to make the game more about adventuring with friends. In fact I think the team should lean into it such as adding more movement mechanic eg sliding. I can imagine ranger choosing to slide to get to the other side of the terrain so he/she could get to shoot from the back of the enemy or what not.
I really love the idea of the world expanding as you level up and get acclimatized with the weather but I think the team should invest more in to concept art/writing side of the game to help with the sense of wonder. As I feel in both the new design and the old one, the world feels generic. I think it will be such a crazy experience, if at the end of the long travel with your friends, the world open up to wondrous place like Coral highlands on MHWorld or you know by accident you find a place like Suramar from Warcraft by climbing down a mountain.
Best wishes to this project and the devs. Game dev is excruciatingly hard, and they always sound invested in what they’re showing on Cohh’s streams. However, I don’t see how this is a “modern” take on anything (and I’m not talking about the art style). This honestly just looks bland. It doesn’t seem to have an identity. I’m assuming there will be a story, at least?

Lol this looks abysmal. 😂😂😂😂 The animations are atrocious, the combat looks clunky, the graphics are trashy and look like a shit mobile game. Are they really being serious with this??
FFXIV cured me from rotations. So glad Pantheon won't have them.
As a classic EQ player. I love the gameplay and trajectory. Art style is secondary to the gameplay and social incentives IMO. Was surprised by how much fun I had playing the last pre alpha-test. Forming a group and moving our way around the region gathering experience was actually really fun and engaging. Felt the social atmosphere again in an MMO which was very refreshing. Can't wait for the next test which I will be bringing a few more people to hopefully!

The dev team behind this game is the joke of the industry at this very, very, very late stage of the game.
