    • @randallbutler2736

I first heard this song when I was 16 years old. I felt like Jackson had written it for me. The Vietnam war was winding down with protests in the street. My parents were looking down on the protesters as a bunch of no good hippies that have nothing better to do, and so were most of my friends. All that I could think of were my older than me, but still young neighbors that were drafted and never to come home.
It seemed like to me that I was the only one paying attention.
Hearing this song helped me realize that I was not alone in my thoughts.

It’s “price”. The narrator has paid the price of loss of sight for ignoring what’s going on around him. Like a “Twilight Zone” kinda story set to music.

I had lunch with JB two years ago. Such a nice man, he does so many good things that people don’t know about. He has adopted several people in his family such as my son’s friend (JB’s nephew/adopted son). His mother died so Jackson adopted him so he could take care of him, he has adopted other family members as well (to help them). He lives completely off the grid near where I live. JB tours all year (except during pandemics) and most of his concerts are benefits to help native Americans as well as other people that are held down. His latest music is very deep. JB got arrested many years ago protesting a nuke plant near here.

Jackson was a huge part of the early Eagles sound. Giving Take it Easy, as an unfinished song, to Glen Frey as an example. The Eagles debut single and the rest is history.

      Tedderman johns
Since it was actually a Don Henley tune that got them signed I’d say they were already destined for success . The difference between the industry then and now is , then everyone helped and encouraged each other . They wrote songs for each other , recorder their songs even played together in shows they weren’t being paid to play . Today everyone is stingy, aggressive and threatened by another artist talents to the point of sabotaging them or stealing their music , so they don’t have to compete with anyone or do the hard work for themselves .

My wife just doesn't get why I love watching reaction videos. How can I describe hearing an old favorite song from my youth with different ears, seeing its meaning through someone else's eyes, like those old discussions with friends over the lyrics and their meaning? You breathe that new life into it, Mr J! What once was just a bop when I was a kid, is now meaningful poetry with a message for today, because we're all adults today and you're just hearing it the first time. Amazing!

He’s been my favorite since I was 13 years old.

I saw Jackson in Philly in 80s and 90s - at the Spectrum and the Tower Theater and then took my young son to see him at the academy of music around 2012. He’s been my favorite since I was 12 years old in 1979, as my older brothers had all him albums. Still love him. Discovered Fountain of Sorrow in the early 2000s and that has become my all time favorite (if I’m forced to pick just one!) ❤️❤️❤️

One of the great song writers of our time. I like everything. The year I heard my first Jackson Browne song was the same year I wore a groove into my big 45 of "Rappers Delight" When he was inducted into the Rock and Roll HOF by Bruce Springsteen in 2004. Bruce said this about Jackson Browne's song writing "what draws women to Jackson was they finally heard a guy who knew as much about love as they did, and what drew men to Jackson was that when they listened to Jackson they realized they knew more about love than they thought they did.
He's a poet. That what good song writing is right? it transcends time and place, race and creed and damn don't we all need some transcending now.
