I’ve not seen much of Schaub, I don’t know much about him and his backstory, but the whole way he comes across seems really insecure and unsettled like at his core. He’s not at peace with who he is or what he wants and how he’s experiencing the world.
Very astute observation. This exact trait is why the subreddit for his podcast, the fighter and kid, turned on him. It's that plus his arrogant refusal to listen to comments pointing this out. He lacks the humility and self awareness to laugh at himself despite being a "stand up comedian". Its quite a fascinating rabbit hole to look into. There's hundreds of video essays pointing out his lies and the previous things you observed. I myself a homeless cat at PF Changs as well.

I also specifically remember, on the fighter and the kid that Brendan said his brother was glad that Joe talked him out of fighting. But Joe actually didn't talk Brendan out of fighting. Brendan said the reason why he quit fighting was because of the Reebok deal.
He's really not a bad guy, just a hard career to progress from and he's done better doing so than 95% of fighters. Should be applauded instead of hated, despite him making himself an easy target at times. He seeems like a guy that always wanted to be a "cool" kid but never felt like one in his soul despite being surrounded by many, if that makes sense.
