    Buffy is rough in the first season, but after that it’s smooth sailing! I watched it for the first time as an adult (25 years old) and was incredibly impressed by it! The heart, the tension, and the wonderful characters and the tough decisions they have to make really make the show timeless, I think.
    Since I’m a fan, and I am really into deck-building, I’m glad to see a non-fan enjoyed it! I don’t like to buy things just because I’m a fan of the IP. I want an actual great game,
    I also like that it’s cooperative because I’m finding out that, most of the time, I don’t really like games that are multiplayer solitaire. Thanks for the review!

      @@TheDiscriminatingGamer As a true nerd told me more than a year ago: "It is a good show. Worth seeing". That was when I knew it was something I've missed and as a 43 year old started watching it almost a year ago. Almost every episode has been a blast of love and laughter in all seven seasons. So now I'm telling you: "It is a good show. Worth seeing"...
      Just bought the game and is now looking forward to play it once I get the hang of it.

    I really love this game. I'm hoping they make an Angel expansion to add in the characters from that spin off. Havent taken this to board game night yet.
    also its been bothering me what are those games on the shelf standing upright with the characters and the numbers in the red circles? Theyre on the rightmost side of the camera. I'm curious

    Great view, thanks!
    And can you give an advice how to marked mastermind and villians attacks points? They are sometimes depends from dark/light level, so how you can watch its level? Is it some smartphone application? Or you mark its by handmade tokens? I think it is a big trouble how to understand what health level have villains in each timepoint((

    • @TheDiscriminatingGamer
      @TheDiscriminatingGamer  4 года назад

      If I understand correctly, you are asking how to track enemy's hit points from turn to turn. If that is the case, then you don't. Each player's turn requires you to come up with enough attack points to defeat it. If you cannot defeat the Villain/Mastermind that turn, you cannot attack it.

    • @spanish_inquisition_boardgames
      @spanish_inquisition_boardgames 4 года назад +1

      The Discriminating Gamer sorry, but I meant another - for example some mastermind has 7+ health which depends of dark track. If dark track's marker is on the 2, so mastermind health is equal 9. Also as I understand, some villians can have such health level, which depend of dark track. For example, my track is on the dark=2. That means, "Big bad" mastermind has 7+2=9 health, and, again for example, there are two villian with health 3+2=5. So, how can I not get confused when play my attack cards? I played legendary dxp application and this ratings of health were calculated by application, but in boardgame, I think, it is difficult to keep in mind all this changes, especially if you have 4-5 villians on villain's track. Am I wrong? Have you any troubles with it or maybe you know some lifehacks for this situation)) That was my question)))
      Sorry for my English, it's too poor((

      @@spanish_inquisition_boardgames Your English is fine. Really, you just have to hold that info in your head. I suppose others have come up with ways to track it, but I just do it the old fashioned way.

    Played this at Game Storm 20 based on your review. Owner of the game did not play but just helped us all. I have never played a deck game, and I was not alone. So we learned that at the same time. The game was fun and exciting. The theme added to the play--seemed balanced for lovers of the TV show and just playing. We defeated The Master. Thank for the review that sent me to this game where I could try it. I would not buy it as I am still unsure about all those cards, but I would play it anytime!

    • @TheDiscriminatingGamer
      @TheDiscriminatingGamer  6 лет назад

      Thank you, sir. I would recommend that you try a lighter deck building, like the DC Comics Deck Building Game, or the Lord of the Rings Deck Building Game. Or perhaps try a board game with a deck building mechanic like Trains or Clank!

    I also have not seen a single episode and I don't think I would be able to either do that or play this game. I love Legendary and it seems to have good mechanisms, but the pictures... they look so cheap and B-movie quality that I get embarrassed just seeing them.

    • @cajuncolt2459
      @cajuncolt2459 6 лет назад +1

      I think with a well known IP like this it's safer sticking to the "look and feel" everyone is familiar with from the most popular incarnation of the IP (TV Show) vs changing that and then risk alienating your biggest % of fans/buyers..

    • @mikolajwitkowski8093
      @mikolajwitkowski8093 6 лет назад +1

      I might not have made myself clear - nothing against using screencaps as such (although often drawn cards do look better) - it's just that this show in particular looks terrible, the costumes, the actors, it's just hard to look at (that's a very biased personal opinion of course). I am sure this is going to work for someone who like the aesthetic I just could never abide the whole Xena, Hercules, Buffy quality level of TV productions.

    • @xJAMESVICIOUSx
      @xJAMESVICIOUSx 6 лет назад

      @Mikolaj Witkowski As someone who LOVES Buffy, Xena, AND Hercules... I actually have to agree. Unfortunately those shows do not stand the test of time in terms of production quality, hair/makeup, costumes, set design.... it's all pretty low-budget, so to just use screencaps of an already low-quality production.... I think I would have liked something more artful, even if it wasn't in my preferred style.

    • @SeanUCF
      @SeanUCF 5 лет назад

      The show had a very B-Movie look to it, so it's no surprise the game would end up looking like that since they used screen caps.
      I did enjoy the first couple seasons, but it started getting really cheesy.

    Upper deck has done the unforgivable. They refuse to improve the art for their legendary games. Here they use "real" pics, but I'll never forgive them for what they did to firefly and big trouble in little China. After much anticipation I could not stomach the art for those games. Why they won't get any artists worthy of these IPs is beyond me.

    • @TheDiscriminatingGamer

      To me, this is such a non-issue. It's about the game.

    • @deanofgames4661

      The Discriminating Gamer agreed. In fact, the characters from a TV show are so ingrained in our movie minds that it makes sense to use the pictures from the TV show. I never understood why people get obsessed with artist rendering stuff that doesn't need to be rendered.

    I've watched couple seasons of Buffy. It was okay. Totally can imagine watching it in High School on TV. It has unique charm. But it must be seen in once-in-a-week format. Same as Smallville. It's kinda repetitive when you try to binge-watch.

      Одинокие переводы из под стола buffy starts with a "monter of the week" pattern but that it's only during the first two seasons. I don't think it's repetitive at all.
