I asked a breeder who’s had a lot of experience breeding and hand raising Severe macaws and she said that in her experience all the severes she has raised have had at least some red under their wings. Sometimes you can see it a little on the top, when the wing is closed and sometimes you can only see it when the wing is open because it’s primarily only under. The amount differs. I hope that answered your question.
@@thebirdcouple Also I would like to update. My bird was very young when I asked this now she's a little older and her red feathers on her shoulders are growing in!
2,500 to 4,000 $ depending if you go to a breeder or a pet store or even an exclusively bird store, but don’t go any lower then that, lots of scammers out there!
For me a good breeder: Only sells birds that can eat themselves Let you come overthere to get a good impression. (a vudeo never tells if the bird feels right) Hope many countries follow the Netherlands where handfeeding is not legal anymore.
Beautiful birds 🐦 🐦⬛
I hand raised a severe macaw. She lived 27 years and died suddenly. I still miss that special bird.
They are so amazing. So sorry for your loss. 💔 I can’t imagine.
I got a severe but she doesn't have those little red patches on her wings. Is that different from bird to bird?
I am not sure, I thought the red colorings were standard for severes. Are you sure she is a severe? I’m gonna go ask someone who would know better.

Also, it could be a bit more, depending on location but don’t trust anything lower.
