You can I actually just go into first person mode and walk to the back of side of the car. Most cars have the name of the car on them just like in real life. I have compared the prices and from what I can see, the cars can be slightly cheaper buying from the customer. Not to mention how cheap it is to mod in this setting. Also you can buy after you mod too. The option is still there.

I like this because I get to the the car same price as in the phone app but u get free customizations ! No extra charge

I just do two set ups for one of the auto shop heists..
