I love watching your videos. They make this old man happy because 50 years ago, my late wife and I had a large garden and we loved harvesting all the fresh vegetables and preserving them. Some by canning and some by freezing. I can't wait for David's cookbook since I also love to bake. I've never tried biscotti though. Maybe it's time! My gratitude and prayers are with your family.
It is wonderful that David is learning to cook. Kind of reminds me of me when I was his age. I went out and picked a huge bucket of blackberries. I brought they home and showed my mother all of these berries that I picked. She told me that was wonderful but what was I going to do with these berries. I told her I was going to make pie with them. Mother asked if I have ever baked a pie before knowing full well that I hadn't. So mother said that she had better teach me to bake a pie. From that day forward I have always cooked my own food except for my 4 years in the Canadian Navy. God bless always Joe Scott
Oh my goodness, does this ever remind me of my Mom’s kitchen when I was a child my Dad built a grape arbor and they grew Concord Grapes. My Mom made jelly and juice and pies . All of us kids loved it. We had a big peach tree and a lemon tree too. I still at 72 years old have never had a peach as sweet and delicious as off that peach tree when we’d just go out to the backyard and take one off the trees. Thanks for the memories you reminded me of today. It’s been a sad day my sister-in-law passed away this morning so happy thoughts were needed and this is what you gave me.
I love how relaxed this video was, like a home movie. Even your voice was calm and sweet. I love seeing the “mundane” little moments. What a lovely family and incredible mom and wife you are, an example to many 💛
Bless your heart sweetie. That's a lot of work. I've done it before. And going to the future to do it again, cause it's good stuff. Big hugs to you and your family with God's blessing
David, you are a guy after my own heart!!! I LOVE to bake! I have never made biscotti, though. I will have to try it. I make a lot of biscuits, scones, bread, pies and occasional pasties. And cookies, of course..LOL
Thank you for your videos. Such a blessing! I have a food mill like yours - inherited from my sweet Mother! Never knew what to call it. She would ask me to put cooked potatoes though it for our Thanksgiving and commemorative dinners and call it riced potatoes. ( Also used it for canning of course- we had plum trees and made plum jam and jelly quite a bit.) Wonderful memories - thanks!. Although I still use it often seems its most often used for straining out stocks. I freeze celery ends , carrot peelings, onion skins, etc( we do not have chickens ) ( yet- possibly) and make stock with chicken carcass or beef bones. But did not know to call it a food mill. I just called it Mom's strainer. 🙋
My mom used to make grape jelly. It was a lot of work, but oh tasted so good. David is going to be a great baker. You can tell he has a passion for baking. Really enjoy watching your videos. God bless.
Can't wait for David's cookbook. I hope to get one. I am a baker at heart. I have made and sold lots of baked goods at farmers markets over the years. The grape pie crust is so creative. Have you considered an small outdoor kitchen? I leave my crockpots, toaster oven and regular stove outside from March through September here in Las Vegas, NV. It's just too hot in the house to do all my cooking (from scratch) inside.
Baker in the making! I have a three year old grandson who loves to be in the kitchen helping me. It’s so much fun and wonderful to have the time together.
My girls and I just canned 41 quarts of Concord grape juice on Friday and Saturday! We are about seven quarts worth of grapes while canning. We love Concord grapes
I have never had a grape pie and cannot wait to make one! Thank you so much for the recipe!!! And I am so excited that David is creating a cookbook!! I love baking!
That pie looks so yummy! I have a suggestion for the grapes that you freeze. If you flash freeze them so they don't stick together you can totally fill a ziploc bag and can measure out 2 cups without having to thaw the whole bag. Also, they are soooo good frozen as a pop in your mouth cold snack on a hot summer day! I love them that way! You can even put some in your water glass as grape ice cubes!
It is great, that twelve he knows what his career will be and is already working in that direction. Love watching you and your sweet family! God bless you all!
Love this! My aunt and uncle let us pick 2 five gallon buckets full of their concord grapes. You're right, so time consuming and tedious. Delicious jelly!
Can't wait for that cookbook!. I was a baker for almost 20 years so I appreciate his hard work. My son started cooking when he was about 10 and when he was 12 I got him a wok for a gift. When he was an adult he got a job at a very fancy restaurant and made extravagant meals. David has a great future ahead of him! Thanks for the directions on that grape pie, I have never made one but now I will have to put it on my list of to dos! THanks
Thank you so much! I got two bushel of Concord grapes, planning to make a lot of grape juice, jams, jelly, grape butter and grape pie!!! I made your recipe if grape pie today...my little family was delighted!!!
Thanks for sharing all the way you preserve these grapes. We are lucky enough to have moved to a property that has established grape vines. I will give this method of preserving grape juice a try next season. It looks so simple, and with the same results! What a blessing David is to your family! Such a sweet boy to help his busy Mom. We look forward to hearing more about his cookbook. I have an aspiring baker too! It’s so nice to see your home so filled with love and delicious homemade food! I love how all the kids get a chance to help.
Having some grape juice is such a blessing. I used to pre-order Concord grapes at my local grocery store. They could get in some bushels, but not enough to make selling them in the produce department worthwhile. I always did 1c. of grapes and 1/2 cup sugar in each jar. The hardest part was waiting a few weeks for the best flavor to come out of the grapes. I know your family will love having these on hand. Blessed day!
How I miss Concord grapes! When I was very young, sometime around 1968, Mom planted two vines on our chain link fence at our house in Kansas. In a couple years, we had our first grape jams, jellies, juice, and vinegar. That's when I got the canning bug. My brother died this year and I had to return for the funeral. Ran by the old house and one of those grape vines was still going strong. Did my heart good to see that.
I live in Scotland. I have never heard of grape pie! We don't have grape jelly and I only had Dixie grape soda while living in the Middle East. Looking forward to seeing this. Thank you.
Enjoyed seeing you can your grapes and your method to make your juice. I have actually never had concord grape pie and I know Grandma and Grandpa had concord grapes someone must not have cared for it because it was never a pie that I remember being made. Your pie was the great cluster on it was beautiful. Thanks a lot for sharing
I have heard so many older people tell me how wonderful grape pie tastes put never tried to make it with our grapes. I actually think I might try it after seeing this video. I also can’t believe I never thought to freeze the grapes in baggies before. Some years I just do not have time to process all of them into juice. Thank you!
So happy I saw this video. I had never heard of Concord grape 🍇 pie. There is a Homestead farm on the North Fork of Long Island. Their signature attraction is Concord grape pie. No one else offers this absolutely delicious pie. 😋. I would love to make my own but never could find a video tutorial so thanks so much. 😊
Hi ms. Jessica & family. You guys are the best. Thx. For sharing your day. Hoping all is well. Quick thought about allergies. Anybody can develop allergies anytime in their life. All the bad stuff they putting in food. Your videos remind us of nature's healing powers. You just so busy. You inspired me to make pumpkin soup. Was a bit of work but so wholesome. I admire all your hard work. Well done.👍🤗🥰
David, best of luck to you on becoming a baker. It'll be exciting when your book is ready and I'd love to buy a copy for myself and one for my sister as she is a pastry chef. Keep on cultivating your passion!
I love grape juice and jelly. Never had a grape pie... I made biscotti once from a recipe I saw on RUclips My Italian Grandma. It had fruit in it and it was delicious!
I put my grapes in a steam juicer and extract the juice (can do it in the Instant Pot too). I don't sweeten it either. It's added to other juices. I freeze ours but maybe some time will do the canning method. Our chickens get the grape mash...they love it!
It’s a chilly fall day here in Massachusetts … Thank you David for the idea of making biscotti. Yum 😋 I can’t wait for David’s cookbook! I’m enamored by the care he takes when working with his confections. You’re an amazing young man. 💕
Grapes are my absolute favorite to harvest, preserve, and eat/drink. I tried the raw grapes & water a few years back. I did not like it at all. It tasted like watered down grape juice. I did only fill the jars halfway with the grapes, per the recipe I followed. I'm sure filling it will produce a better concentrated flavor. I'm sticking with making the juice & then jarring up😊
I looked for this video because I have concord vines and I saw a picture of your grape juice with whole grapes in it. (I think) I also love the grape pie filling. BTW I love how you use the space above your cupboards, I do the same !!
Can you speak on your thoughts on your new pantry as shelving? I know they are fairly new but I’m interested in your thoughts on spacing, durability, etc. The jars are so pretty when lined up like you have them.
Thank you for this great video! Where can I purchase seeded grapes? I really love grapes but dislike what’s in the store right now as everything is seedless.
Could you pressure can this? I am wanting to push a button and have it can itself in my electric canner while I go mow! Thank you for being realistic and practical. I trust you and that means a lot!
Jessica I use your videos as my go to resource for my preserving. I just brought in a dish pan full of grapes from my backyard. These are vines have been in my family for 5 generations that I am aware of. I will be making grape juice, and jam. My hope is to try and freeze dry some grape juice. And I will have to try the grape pie. Any idea on how the grape pie freezes?? Also just a side note, the wallaby oxygen absorbers are not the same quality now that they were. Watch the Phil at 4800 video about his testing oxygen absorbers. The one's that he tested highest are much more inexpensive than the wallaby, and they work amazingly well. Just wanted to let you know, since you offer me so much more information regularly.

Pie top is amazing 🤩

The smell of fresh Concord grapes is intoxicating...like nothing I’ve ever experienced before💕
David, you are a guy after my own heart!!! I LOVE to bake! I have never made biscotti, though. I will have to try it. I make a lot of biscuits, scones, bread, pies and occasional pasties. And cookies, of course..LOL
Very creative with the bunch of grapes made from your pie crust. Your kids were cracking me up saying every fruit but grapes.
John john cracks me up lol you're kids are the best
This summer was the 1st time I saw a grape pie at our amish market. Looks so yummy!

Love it! Gonna make a pie and some juice for my Dad! Thanks for the info!
Great job, David!! Your biscotti looks delicious 😋. Bless you!!!
Grape pie was what my husband asked for his birthday as a child. I’ve never been able to make it. Looks so good. Love what you share.
I'll have to show my elderly friend your method! That is super easy!!! Thank you for sharing!
love your videos, so informative...you are by far my favorite go to, to can and learn..thank you!
Just pulled out my steam juicer yesterday to make apple-grape juice. Thanks for another great video!

I had never heard of or seen a grape pie until a couple months ago at an Amish event in Ohio. It was absolutely delicious!
It is sooo lovely to see a young man in the kitchen ❤️ 🎉
That pie looked phenomenal, thank you!
Yum lemon my favorite! I want a cookbook since he has my flavor profile. Love this young man!🤗
I live in Scotland. I have never heard of grape pie! We don't have grape jelly and I only had Dixie grape soda while living in the Middle East. Looking forward to seeing this. Thank you.
Looking forward to the cookbook! Thanks for the video and can't wait to try making the juice!
Colorful foods that are also colorful for your tongue are just so much fun! A true party in your mouth 😝

My husband's favorite grape. We don't get them fresh here in the south, though. Thanks for the demomstration.
I love grape juice and jelly. Never had a grape pie... I made biscotti once from a recipe I saw on RUclips My Italian Grandma. It had fruit in it and it was delicious!
Blessings to all!
I'll also be looking forward to that cookbook
I can smell them now. Yummy
I had left over juice from making jelly. I didn't even think of canning the juice. Thanks for the great idea
That's the same way I freeze grapes for my smoothies.❤😊
I want David’s cookbook just for the lemon biscotti recipe. Can’t wait for it!
I put my grapes in a steam juicer and extract the juice (can do it in the Instant Pot too). I don't sweeten it either. It's added to other juices. I freeze ours but maybe some time will do the canning method. Our chickens get the grape mash...they love it!

Love grape pie

I’ll be looking forward to that Ginger Snap recipe.
Have never made grape pie and we have Valiant grapes that are similar to Concord. Can't wait to try it!
💕
Have you tried using/saving the strained grape remnants from the canned grape juice? Or do they not hold any flavor anymore?
Wow your pie is so pretty
In the south we have muscadines and scuppernongs (wild grapes with a thick skin). I make muscadine pie and it is awesome too. Thanks for the video!
The grape video was interesting tfs 🥰🍃🍂🍁🍎💗✝️
Can you speak on your thoughts on your new pantry as shelving? I know they are fairly new but I’m interested in your thoughts on spacing, durability, etc. The jars are so pretty when lined up like you have them.
My mother use to put 1 cup grapes 1/2 cup sugar fill half gall jar fill with boiling water. Seal. The best grape juice ever!!!
Thanks! Just got a bunch of seeded grapes and now I have use for them (:
I'm missing your videos this week. Praying that all is well with you and your family.
Thank you for this great video! Where can I purchase seeded grapes? I really love grapes but dislike what’s in the store right now as everything is seedless.

We do grape hull pie with Scuppernong grapes. In NC is where the mother vine was found for scuppernong and muscadine grapes.

I just made juice with a lot of grapes last week (we grow 2 types)!! Haven't made grape pie yet.
I put some frozen concords in fire cider this time when I made it. Cannot wait to see if we notice a difference,
Could you use other types of grapes to can for juice?
