That message was straight from the Lord, and delivered in such a wonderfully calming manner. Faith over fear, every time. Thank you, and may God continue to comfort and bless you on your grief journey. ♥️
I have to share my stock up from yesterday with someone who will "get it," because most people I know do not.. I went into a big chain store yesterday to pick up some things for my parents who can't shop for themselves and, as always, walked to the canning section. Low and behold- wide mouth canning lids! 4 cases!! I haven't seen them since pre-2020 here. I know I must have looked like a child in a candy store. Thank you, Lord! I only got 20 boxes, some to share with a friend, some for me. Left tons for others, because I know how disappointing it is to find empty shelves.
Am so happy to see your sweet face this morning!! My mom was the daughter of a farmer and the baby of twelve in TX. She was a child of the Great Depression and it was so different listening to her story compared to my paternal grandma who dealt with it as a woman in OK. Both of them instilled in me that modern conveniences are nice but never have an electric item that you also don’t have a non-electric one as a back up. Better yet have propane instead of electric. My mom had a wood cook stove next to her propane stove in the kitchen and if the power went out we just lit the oil lamps and never though about not being able to cook a meal. I’ve had a wood cook stove just like hers for almost twenty years that will actually be installed this year. My preference is to cook in my fireplace but I feel it’s time to have the wood stove up for extra heat. There is great comfort in just following the Lords lead. A working pantry is worth its weight in gold and you teaching younger women how to obtain one is priceless! You stay in my prayers, it’s just one day at a time.
I’m so happy that you’re back Jessica!!!! We have been praying and thinking about you over here! Great video as always, you always have this amazingly eloquent way of explaining this type of discussion while teaching and helping us learn bout prepping and homesteading! Excited for more videos to come out
You approach to this and demeanor is so calming. I really truly enjoyed this video. Thank you for this layer of calm to this process for a new homesteader.
When Costco would put Charmin toilet paper on sale, we would always buy the limit, so when Covid 19 hit we were prepared. We did not have to panic buy. In fact we were able to help several other families.
I have felt the need to store and learn how to garden and can and prepare for many years. I don’t have a tv and seeing how much of this is going on even here on utube has just reinforced that the Father was guiding me in the right direction. I am a widow with grown children but I am working on my pantry that will help them and their families. This is not just for my home
Jessica, you are a true blessing to this world 💖 You are so grounded and your grace truly inspires me. Thank you for sharing all that you do, and for being such an incredible mom, wife, and woman. Praying for continued healing for you and your family during this time 💖🙏✨ Your light shines bright! Many blessings to you and your wonderful family 💕
As bible believers, we believe in prophecy so we know hard times are ahead, it also helps us stay connected to our roots and creator, from the beginning on time they have always had well stocked food supplies 😀
It’s taken me a while to actually hit subscribe, I always look forward to your posts. I was a prepped/homesteader before we ever moved to our homestead! I’m so happy to see you raising your children the way you do. Faith, Family. I’m #6 of 8 children. now Mother of 5 adult children and so far six Grandchildren. I ALWAYS wanted to raise my children as you do. I’m about to turn 60 have been doing some sort of canning/freezing since I was 18. I still learn daily from you, Sarah and Kevin, and a few other Christians on RUclips. May God continue to BLESS you and your family. I have total respect for your commitment to your beliefs and family. It’s fine that you broke down and explained to us why you were missing in action. Prayers for continued healing.✝️, Madolyn
Its interesting that covid exposed how many people werent prepared in a time of crisis. Canning is somewhat of a lost skill. We live on 1.6 acres and thankfully, plenty of room for a decent veggie patch. 😃 we also have planter boxes hanging off our balcony. Due to my husband losing his job, our finances will be extreemely tight. And so im looking into canning. I have several boxes of the fowlers vercola jars. After i replace some lids and the water bath canner, i can get started. 😊
So glad to see you back! You have been in my prayers the last couple weeks. Thank you for your insight on the potential upcoming supply chain disruptions. I look forward to your videos.
You are so right when you said we should "never prepare out of fear, but prepare out of wisdom". That is so hard to get others to understand. Most want to wait until the last minute and then make the mad-dash out to grab and buy what's there, hoping something will be there to buy. They say they "do not" have the money buy now. How are they going to have the money then??? My husband and I share with our friends that they could just buy a few items at a time to put back and over time these things will build up, but they do not see it. All we can do is pray that people will open their eyes and ears before its too late. It was so nice seeing you again, I've been watching some of your older videos. Strill trying to get caught up with all of your content!!!! You make fantastic videos!!!!
After the issues with supplies during the Covid 19 days, one would think folks would have learned a lesson and gotten a few extra items as time passed rather than wipe out a supply in one swoop. And so it goes. JGiles
When your a mom of a large family, life doesn't just stop for you to catch up. Im sure you are taking some time for your healing and I know your husband and children are providing the love and support needed. I enjoyed this video. Im neither a homesteader or prepper, but good realistic points to think about.
Thanks for this timely message. Working from faith is peaceful whereas working out of fear is defeating. You are a blessing to many in your sincere and thoughtful message.
God, I believe, led me back to watch this once again. Literally brought up this video, when I was watching something else at the time. God does work in mysterious ways sometimes. I'm leaving this comment to assure others that preparing is his wishes, but do so in a manner of providing food and not of fear. If we are supplying our families food and not allowing any waste, we are doing as we should. We shouldn't feel bad about providing food for our families or for other families in need. Be grateful, thankful and a blessing to others. God bless.
When it comes to preparing to provide for us; my husband says “he trusts my unction.” We are Christians and we are trusting God to meet our needs as we follow His leading. God bless you and your family.
Thank you for your dedication to share! Such great ideas! I tend to lean on both sides. A freeze dryer for long term storage and self sustaining animals that can continually reproduce. Thank you for being a blessing 🙌
Being an offspring of parents who came of age during the Great Depression and World War II, I was not raised with a prepper or hoarder mindset but a provide for your needs. My parents realized that things can get tough due to rationing or shortages they experienced. Mom always froze veggies in the summer, not due to fear but due to the fact she wanted green beans, corn, peaches, etc. in the off season. We also ate in season and there was not as much long distance transportation of produce as we see today. We a simply as there was not the convenience food we see today. Also, at that time we were not bombarded by a 24 hour news cycle. We had Walter Cronkite. A problem I saw during the Covid 19 time was that people hoarded. I hope that the huge amounts of flour, dried beans, rice, and pasta have gone to use. Being only two people, we continued what we have always done have one extra of necessities on hand. A pound of rice will last us at leas 6 months, maybe a year. I cook from scratch so we have a very small well thought out pantry that sustained us during the shortages of Covid19 and then the anomaly snow storm (Austin, Texas) that once again sent people hoarding. Thank you for your video on how you prep and the thoughtful and sane way you go about making sure your family has what they need in any emergency. Joy Giles
What a great video. I look forward to your new series. We have been living this way for quite a while but seeing it thru someone’s else’s eyes is very helpful thanks again
I loved your response to all the panic prepping going on. I too have been doing what I always do and am not stressed about the potential shortages. Thank you for being a voice of calm and reason.
Good to have you back. Hope you and your family are doing ok. I think it's great that you and your husband look at things from a different perspective. That way you cover more bases.
You are definitely in my prayers! Very good advice, as always. I think if we feel fear and anxiety that is a great time to take it to God in prayer. Thanks for sharing!
Like I always say, "there is wisdom in being prepared". Also, I've felt God leading me and my husband to not only be prepared with perishables, but also financially as well. No debt, which means no mortgage, credit cards, vehicles, etc. I'd love to see a video talking about how one should prepare themselves financially. Blessings to you
I live in Ohio as well. It's so good seeing how the Lord is blessing you and strengthening you and your family. I grow the food in my garden so that we can have enough to get us through the winter until next harvest time. I'm getting better at making our life sustainable. I'm learning to prepare. all the time.
Fellow Ohioan here and so happy I came apon your channel ❤ We just started our homesteading journey the beginning of 2020 (boy were my eyes opened) and feel like your speaking to me in this one! Thank you ❤
Hi. Ms. Jessica. I'm Phoenix az. We will have a h20 $increased started next year. I've seen utube videos of other countries whose rivers& dams are also drying up. This is alarming. I'm learning so much from your videos. I enjoy seeing your family helping & learning to be healthy. You r wise.
Jessica, First, I am so happy that you decided to release a video. I have been praying for you and your family and I feel like I have been reconnected with an old friend. Second, thank you so much for your comments and insight. I love your observation about preparing out of Wisdom and that being anxious is not from a good place. I often read the news and get so angry and anxious, I know I need to go on a news fast and truly just trust in God! I am looking forward to more videos…God Bless You!
My anxiety stemmed from our drought. We were limited on water usage because many were having to haul water for livestock and ponds we have never seen dry in our 40 years were bone dry. I was able to find plenty of heirloom seeds for my garden but then most of my crops burned up due to no water, no rain. The heat we had was also definitely not normal and we haven’t had anything like that since the early 80s. My panic comes from seeing shelves, knowing I’m without those items because I wasn’t able to grow them in my garden and size of family. I do not hoard but I normally have enough food to sustain us during the winter in the event we can’t get out for a couple of weeks. We just recovered from Covid and was very handy since we all were sick at the same time so we couldn’t leave for 10 days. Thank you!!!
I am brand new here and so appreciate this video. I have been praying about what to put in my pantry for us, and for blessing others. I let my friends and neighbors know what I have and tell them that if they have a need, I will share.
Thank you, Jessica. I was just praying about that yesterday (preparing from fear vs. wisdom). For me, I go back to Y2K and evaluate what we did then, and consider what things we were able to use even when the potential crisis didn't come.
Good talk. I do both, grow, can and adding a bit each week to my pantry. I prepare to be self sufficient and for needs & comfortable not for fear. I try also help others. We all need to carry on with day to day life. God has us.!
🍁 I hear in your message, 'Simplicity'. Your values and priorities are set in stone. To me, these two traits are highly enviable by most of us out here, and for me CONTAGIOUS, I hope. Thank you so much for your relaxed, loving style, which obviously permeates throughout your sweet family.
So good to see you! I’ve missed you-and been praying for your renewal of strength and spirit. Great video. I am striving to have a years worth of main staples “put by.” That includes animal feeds. We just bought our small homestead this past late spring; so with moving, I didn’t get a garden planted. Our wonderful new neighbors shared the over abundance of their gardens, and I went to farmers markets. I did get garlic , strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, elderberries, blackberries and peach trees planted. I grew my chicken flock by adding 4 pullets and a Rooster-and I’ve started raising pedigreed Rex rabbits for meat and for 4H sales. I hope to add a couple pigs next year, and was trying to purchase Jersey milk from a local dairy but the laws prohibit it because of lawsuits concerning salmonella... I really want to make my own butter and cheese, as well as the creamy milk. At this point, hubby does not want a milk cow!
My dad was telling me the other day that my grandmother won a contest they did years ago when they had food shortages. In each county they saw who could purchase less groceries in that year. She only purchased sugar, flour and salt. Everything else she grew or came from livestock. I don't know that many people could do that in today's time.
I had three in diapers, and all w had then was cloth diapers. It was a tremendous job just keeping up with cleaning all those diapers. One day, it had been raining for several days, no dryer, so I had to iron the diapers dry. You can do more than you think.
Move towards a more sustainable life is the best answer that I have heard as a solution. It is super unnecessary to prep if you have a well stocked pantry but I am shocked at the number of people who don’t have more then a week of food on hand. I bought paper towels 6 years ago when we moved into our house. I just finished those and I bought replacements at the beginning of 2020 but still haven’t opened them. I love the way you are organized and strive to do more for my family even though we will live in the suburbs.
It was good to be raised by parents who came of age in the Great Depression and were adults in World War II. My dad who was in a POW camp in Germany definitely knew what it was like to be with out food and necessities of life. They were not preppers nor hoarders(didn't have money for that) they knew how to make sure we had what we needed and were never without. Giles
Hello from a fellow Ohioan. I am a gardener who tries to source things I don’t grow and animal products locally. That’s been my goal for years. Everything else I try to stock up so I never have to make an emergency run to the store because we ran out of something we use daily.
Great video. We are a blend. Really love your explanation for this. I love seeing some city folks finding ways to grow at least small amounts of things on their balcony, for example.
I've been subscribed from a short while. I have since been going back and watching your older videos. I absolutely love the teacher planner i just purchased, thank you subscribed much for that video. And a special thank you for this one as well. Especially the part on anxiety coming from fear and wisdom. It made me think about that. Oh my goodness, the automatic word check made me sound like an idiot, next time I will proofread before I hit send.
Your approach to preparing is the most common sense that I've heard. It made me happy to hear someone else is using common sense about the whole shortage issue.
I just stumbled onto your video channel. Prepping vs Homesteading. I watched, enjoyed the content. But more than that your story is centered around our Father and that personal relationship with Him! I love that ❤. I subscribed! Keep on sharing the Lord in everyday living....Acts continum....God bless you and your family! Looking forward to your next video as your lead in His timing. Thank you for sharing!
Not sure if you have shared it before - but I would love to see you’re other bulk/stored up items (non food). Household stuff - first aid - animal feed - supplies for salve and soap making - etc
Very well explained. In Matthew chapter 6, Jesus gives us wonderful advice about worrying about food, or clothing or any other "need." I preserve food and save seeds for the short term, like you. I don't really do long term "hoarding" style prepping as others do. A good piece of advice we received when we talked about this very concept: if you have a long term prepper stockpile, people will come and steal it when times get tough. As you said, follow the spiritual guidance the Lord gives you to know how much to set aside. He won't steer you wrong.
Very happy to see you! Loved your advice to rethink our lifestyles. Many years ago the Lord gave me 2 words, simplify and prepare. That started our journey! Thank you for sharing your journey with others! God bless you!
Such a fantastic point about not preparing out of fear. We aren't growing much at all here and doesn't look like i will be able to this season either but what I've always done even when I grew a lot of our own food was support local growers , veg & fruit, peanuts & legumes ,meat &milk& olive oils are are amazingly raised right near me ,a group gets together for bulk purchases of grains and fruit thats not quite local ,not to mention numerous vineyards with high quality products if I was interested. Our family has a fantastic connection to our food, its grown how i would grow it. The farmers are now our friends. Its the next best thing to home grown. Thank you for always being the calming voice of reason. I really appreciate you. Lots of prayers coming your way lovely 🥰
As always, Jessica, you are SPOT ON! I believe that the word "preppers" is/and has been for some time being used incorrectly by people that want to taint the name of people that are, for the most part, not "survivalists", which is a word has now come to be synonymous with extremism. Planning to feed your family and have a well as well as have enough water & food in case of a drought of those things is NOT extreme. That's all being you are doing.
That message was straight from the Lord, and delivered in such a wonderfully calming manner. Faith over fear, every time. Thank you, and may God continue to comfort and bless you on your grief journey. ♥️

I am brand new here and so appreciate this video. I have been praying about what to put in my pantry for us, and for blessing others. I let my friends and neighbors know what I have and tell them that if they have a need, I will share.
I love following your real life! Thank you for sharing so much!
So happy to see a new video. Glad to see you back, Jessica!
Bless you and your family. Glad to see you are back. Great advice. TFS
So good to see you !!! We have been praying for you all🙏🙏❤️
I’m so grateful to have advice about this from your spirit led point of view. Looking forward to the series.
Great advice! Thank you for sharing! Hugs and love from Texas!
Well said. Agree.
Great to see you again. I don't can much any more but I do watch my spending on what I need. Thanks again.
Thank you for all you do. ❤🙏❤
I love your idea of making this topic a series.
Thank You! God Bless You Jessica!!! You have inspired me so much.
Thank you for sharing. Enjoyed it. Blessings
The preparing videos will be very welcome! Love God and love others is the ultimate was to serve Him. You are a blessing!
Wonderful info, thanks for the insights. Love your storage system.
I love that you are biblically principled... refreshing...
Learning a lot from you..
Hiiiiii Jessica..... u are still in my prayers..... much love and peace to u and yours!!!😚
Everything else I try to stock up so I never have to make an emergency run to the store because we ran out of something we use daily.
awesome video- needed to hear the part about anxiety at the end. thank you for that! 💗
Great video. We are a blend. Really love your explanation for this. I love seeing some city folks finding ways to grow at least small amounts of things on their balcony, for example.
Nice to see you! I was thinking of exactly your topic today and what it meant
To me!!!
I love your guidance on fear & wisdom. 💜🌹💜
So well said on all accounts! Thanks so much for the words of wisdom and Biblical truth!
Amen🙏🙏🕊
Your approach to preparing is the most common sense that I've heard. It made me happy to hear someone else is using common sense about the whole shortage issue.
I just stumbled onto your video channel. Prepping vs Homesteading. I watched, enjoyed the content. But more than that your story is centered around our Father and that personal relationship with Him! I love that ❤. I subscribed! Keep on sharing the Lord in everyday living....Acts continum....God bless you and your family! Looking forward to your next video as your lead in His timing. Thank you for sharing!
Good to find this cause I am going to do alot more stuff than just going to the grocery store.
Not sure if you have shared it before - but I would love to see you’re other bulk/stored up items (non food).
Household stuff - first aid - animal feed - supplies for salve and soap making - etc
Very well explained. In Matthew chapter 6, Jesus gives us wonderful advice about worrying about food, or clothing or any other "need."
I preserve food and save seeds for the short term, like you.
So happy to see you back .... I love your videos .... Have a blessed upcoming week 💗
Prayers for your family!!!!🤟
Thank you from Montana - good, wise advice and information 👍 God bless
Glad you are smiling again, your children need you beautiful happy face 😀😇❤️
As always, Jessica, you are SPOT ON! I believe that the word "preppers" is/and has been for some time being used incorrectly by people that want to taint the name of people that are, for the most part, not "survivalists", which is a word has now come to be synonymous with extremism. Planning to feed your family and have a well as well as have enough water & food in case of a drought of those things is NOT extreme. That's all being you are doing.
I need to order from azure this month or probably nexted month this month is gone I have never ordered from them
I been trying to prepare since the virus but I always been a homestead person
Our Holy God brings in your life beside your family peace, grace, happiness, joy , blessing 🙏🙏🙏
Ditto to all the wonderful comments! So nice to have you back. You’re in my prayers everyday 🙏🏻
