The Mets bias is unreal. He's super good. I don't think anyone disputes that. He is also maybe the most smoke and mirrors pitcher in the Majors. Consistently some of the best velo, whiff rate, and K rate. However. He has also consistently finished around the 50th percentile in both hard hit% and BB%, and the middle of the pack in these important stats isn't nearly good enough to consider him "the best without a doubt" coming off an entire season where he didn't throw a pitch.

Gregory Santos had a FB velo in the 99th percentile, as well as a bb% and hard hit% both well above average. Before you ask, no I am not suggesting that he is better, nor am I a White Sox fan.

Putting Diaz, absent from 2023, at number one, and not even mentioning Bautista apart from being injured, even though he DID play a lot and was similarly nasty to Hader...that's really selective. REALLY selective.
If these rankings are strictly projections for the upcoming year, fine it makes sense and I get it, but would it kill you to give props to the one of the definitive top guys from this past season, considering the projections (and thus the main content of the video) are based on past performance?
