The Mets bias is unreal. He's super good. I don't think anyone disputes that. He is also maybe the most smoke and mirrors pitcher in the Majors. Consistently some of the best velo, whiff rate, and K rate. However. He has also consistently finished around the 50th percentile in both hard hit% and BB%, and the middle of the pack in these important stats isn't nearly good enough to consider him "the best without a doubt" coming off an entire season where he didn't throw a pitch.
