      From your questions I'm assuming you don't know much about desktop computers beyond IOS and Windows
      The operation system is Linux which comes in the form of many different independent versions known as distributions (the one in the video being Arch Linux from one of the terminal outputs in the thumbnail)
      Linux is incredibly customisable due to both the fact that it is open source and also because it is just the kernel (the core of an OS with the highest privileges that directly talks between the software and hardware) every Linux distribution is essentially a tailor made set of programs packaged with a Linux kernel to create a functional desktop environment.
      Arch Linux is a very popular distro as its essentially a DIY desktop. You have to install every part of your operating system yourself using the command line which gives you unprecedented freedom over what is actually on and runs on the computer with there being plenty of options for almost every component.
      The act of trying to make a Linux desktop environment all fancy like this is referred to as ricing and is technically possible on any Linux distro. Most however prefer to use Arch or NixOS (Nix is another Linux distro with a very unique way of doing things that makes it unlike any other distro but also has a much greater learning curve.) Ricing is achievable in so many different ways there is no one tutorial that can be made. The best way is honestly just look at the Arch Wiki which does an amazing job at cataloguing all the different packages needed to build a DE and you can check out each project individually from there

    • @ultimate9056
      @ultimate9056 16 дней назад +1

      As for what a repo is. All the programs used to make this set up each have their own configuration files and as such people looking to share their desktop set up often post their config files as Github repositories

      @@Kaze919 It wasn't my intent to come across as condescending. I just really love to talk at length about things and often explain things from the absolute basics. I'd rather someone skip past info they already know then for me to misjudge their level of knowledge and not provide an adequate first explanation.
      Also it helps gives lurkers passing by more context
