i have already spent a week converting my config to nixos, at this rate, ill never get any real work done
Lmao, definitely understandable. I do the same with ricing to the point where the entire day is spent on that.
Trust me... it's been 4 years... still i am configuring my system.. the real work only start when you stop that...
@@sane1090x0 Can you share your nixos dotfiles? Like your rice
The cooonfigers
I do the same on testing different neovim distros and 3 days later, I just built my own and have been using it for about 8 months now.
I use GNU stow to symlink my config files to my home directory so I can skip copying anything to the machine outside of the repo itself
fire bro. keep up the good work
Thank you!
Thank you very muchhh bro. It's great
Thanks a lot!
@@sane1090x0 which linux distro is this, cuz i am thinking of making a shift to linux from windows
Sf font slaps ngl
What fetch are you using (the top left of your thumbnai)? And if its a custom config, can you give me a repo link to it?
it's called "nitch" on the aur, default config
Ohh thank you @@kaot1k
The fetch is nitch and it's completely stock, no custom config.
I wanna give you a challenge: make a theme script. This will allow you to change your rice theme in a way that isn't invasive to your Git status, and will make it way easier to switch color schemes. Also, Everforest is the best color scheme!!!
Sure, let's see what I can come up with lmao.
@@sane1090x0 :D
somehow I doubt the smoothness of this video, whenever I use linux on my old machine it runs better windows no doubt but if I try to rig it install if things it gets floppy and slow
Cool green theme, would be nice if there is tutorial as im new with ricing stuff
Thank you! I'll make a video soon on how to get started with tiling window managers and ricing, so subscribe for that :D
@@sane1090x0im waiting
Do u have a shortcut to hide bar in bottom and can u add more stuff to it?
I’m use regolith and want to use yours
Of course, it's possible to implement it.
Can i ask question....
This bash script can run , if i install minimal install arch...???
Or i must install app, before run bash script .....????
I'd written the script, like really long ago, so I don't know if it still works. In theory, however, it should work on Arch installed with the "minimal" profile.
Thank you...
00:06 No link in the description 😞Now I have to use my fingers. Pain.
@sane1090x's activity is private ???
Ye, lmao.
Nice wallpaper. Happen to have the source? If not dw I'll just try reverse image search
firewatch
the workspace icons are not working, what fonts are those?
Noto Sans CJK for the workspace icons.

Can you make a tutorial on how to get linux looking like this? I am a total beginner and I don' even know where to begin
Bro same here I want to learn this power, so I too can Rice.
Sure! The next video I make will be based on ricing for beginners.
@@sane1090x0what does ricing means?
Also we work on Ubuntu so I was wondering if u can start with that instead of arch
And how can I move away form regolith (I want same keyboard shortcuts but with your looks)
@@GreatTaiwan Ricing is basically customizing your working environment, preferably making it look nice.
Sure, I'll make a tutorial on Ubuntu sometime.
You'll have to switch window managers and use one called Hyprland. I've made a video on that.
@@sane1090x0hey dude, idk who you are but your wholesome comments made me happy. Good Luck with your channel
Are you using eza for ls or?
Yup, it's eza.
What OS is this?
What's the Repo? What is it for and what does it do?
From your questions I'm assuming you don't know much about desktop computers beyond IOS and Windows
The operation system is Linux which comes in the form of many different independent versions known as distributions (the one in the video being Arch Linux from one of the terminal outputs in the thumbnail)
Linux is incredibly customisable due to both the fact that it is open source and also because it is just the kernel (the core of an OS with the highest privileges that directly talks between the software and hardware) every Linux distribution is essentially a tailor made set of programs packaged with a Linux kernel to create a functional desktop environment.
Arch Linux is a very popular distro as its essentially a DIY desktop. You have to install every part of your operating system yourself using the command line which gives you unprecedented freedom over what is actually on and runs on the computer with there being plenty of options for almost every component.
The act of trying to make a Linux desktop environment all fancy like this is referred to as ricing and is technically possible on any Linux distro. Most however prefer to use Arch or NixOS (Nix is another Linux distro with a very unique way of doing things that makes it unlike any other distro but also has a much greater learning curve.) Ricing is achievable in so many different ways there is no one tutorial that can be made. The best way is honestly just look at the Arch Wiki which does an amazing job at cataloguing all the different packages needed to build a DE and you can check out each project individually from there
As for what a repo is. All the programs used to make this set up each have their own configuration files and as such people looking to share their desktop set up often post their config files as Github repositories
@@ultimate9056bro this response was so condescending, yet so informative. Well done, you came out neutral
@@Kaze919 It wasn't my intent to come across as condescending. I just really love to talk at length about things and often explain things from the absolute basics. I'd rather someone skip past info they already know then for me to misjudge their level of knowledge and not provide an adequate first explanation.
Also it helps gives lurkers passing by more context

does the install script do everything and its very beautiful rice
I've to rewrite the script to include the new directories, so no for now. Thank you!
What terminal emulator are you using?
Alacritty.
What is your launcher?
Rofi with a custom theme.
@@sane1090x0 How do you handle the dynamic window height, based on search results? Can you provide a link to your rofi config?
Funciona en fedora ?
Yup, it sure does.

Very underwhelming, actually; it's an HP 15s-du2004tu with an i3-1005G1 and 16 gigs of RAM.

Idk why but i feel personally that using hyperland is cheating. Of course i never used hyperland since i think out of the box it is a nice A E S T H E T I C window manager. Of course i used XMonad and feel partial to it. Its just a bias i have
Well, Wayland compositors just tend to be more modern and thus embrace aesthetics, but I get what you're saying.
