I like your solution as I was searching for something non-permanent to put and sleep on in my car (Fabia combi MK1) for just few days in summer and I found only really heavy and expensive car-beds with huge wooden frame etc. (I understand it, when you want to spend a huge amount of time on trip and sleeping in it, however I was searching for simple solution for my trips to my friend's garden and avoid sleeping in the tent, so your idea is perfect!)
