The more difficult a game becomes, the less fun it actually is for both sides (the ones that are getting owned are frustrated because of OP champs and at the same time the ones that master a difficult champ get frustrated when they still lose). Also in the earlier seasons people were actually playing the game for fun rather than to win every single game. These days people flame you if you want to try out a new champ or a non-mainstream build even if it is just in a normal game. For some reason people think that normal now is the same as ranked without actually ranking. They take every game too serious while normal games were meant for fun...

Mainly the community has changed (for example, when you played a normal game in season 1 and 2 you could play for fun and barely anyone would flame you if you were bad at playing a certain champion or if you were playing a different style/build than usual. What I mainly notice is that now people ping you instantly for every single small mistake which wasn't even a thing to do in season 1 and 2). Also the champions are quite different. First they were more funny, sarcastic and cartoonish (they didn't mind breaking the 4th wall) and now everything is either extremely cutesy/handsome or serious. Every ugly champ has been remade into some hot stuff (trundle, urgot, poppy and taric to name a few). The old Riot wasn't afraid to create 'ugly' champions but now I haven't seen a single 'ugly' champ or skin whatsoever.
This was a truly twisted treeline. A magical forest, hiding creatures and monsters. Music fits perfectly for this forest, makes it even more mysterious. I wish riot just graphic-updated this map, not remove it. i loved the old jungle. Shit i shouldnt get back into all this nostalgia or i ll start to cry
I really wish I got to play this map. Even I'm getting chills and nostalgic feelings and I didn't even experience this. The atmosphere and graphics and everything just gives off this indescribable feeling. I played in S4 and I miss the older vibe the game had. I'm sure this hurts way more and I hope you feel better soon
Yes dude how the fuck did they remove that! Every time I listen to this I get chills and wanna cry. It was so creepy and cozy at the same time. And all the Forrest SFX and natural spooky sounds where basically ASMR before that was a thing. To this day I can hear it: “Welcome. To the Twisted Treeline.”
there's been a cancer at the heart of Riot from early on. Someone was intent on deleting many aspects of the game. Deleting and replacing champs was a terrible idea. Should have left multiple versions of the same champ in the game, effectively having different champs with the same name would have been a wonderful feature.
Back when this game actually had this amazing dark-fantasy feeling, climate and when they cared about their community the most :D Amazing times, I'm happy I could play it since beta :) Sad to see what it has became.
Very sad to see it. Started realizing what was happening around Karma rework, then in late 2014 it became fairly obvious to me. Dominion removal absolutely killed my resolve to play the game. Never stopped hoping by some chance they'd bring it back. You'd think for their Annieversary thing they would have brought it back, but no. Instead I heard we got urf. My only hope now lies in a revival project that sprung up around a year ago. It's made a lot of progress. How ridiculous that it's come to this though.

Riot would moreso question if anyone would actually play it, and without any data or metrics, would likely never do it from a combination of that + how much work it would take. i miss the old map so much, seeing the rocky ground, the jungle and bushes, the theme everything was perfect, the name twisted treeline perfectly matched the mysterious mushroom map with a jungle, the old way of fighting, ofc it was old and not updated but it was too cool, and the champions back then, this is really the first time i had nostalgia that hard

season 2 was perfectly good too. I don't know of any legit complaint of s2 compared to s1. Definately the rot of pasteurizing the game for the masses was noticable in s3 though, got worse s4 and s5. i uninstalled at the end of s5.

Actually, back then, they developed things with love and though, always trying to make the experience something magic and unique for players. Nowadays, they just focus the competitive scene which is absolute crap, I have never been interested in that and I'll never be. LoL has lost his magic over the course of time because of Riot caring less about that magic feeling when playing it and throwing everything away just to see the same freaking korean teams fighting over a cup playing a shitty meta game. Oh, and also worth mentioning, on S1 the lack of competitive scene (compared to what it is today) always encouraged players to try new things, new builds (Ashe mid anyone?) and crazy things would always happen in some matches. Now if you don't go meta you're just blamed for trolling/griefing and might get reported (you probably will), and hopefully you won't get chat/account banned, which is ridiculous. This is as well Riot's fault, because they encourage "the way League should be played" instead of "the freedom of playing whatever you want as long as you do it to win". Competitive teams represent maybe less than 1% (might be much less but just doing RNG here) and they grant them so much importance that the other 99% just copy+paste everything they see without even knowing the reasoning behind what or why they do what they do, or build what they build.
Back when people were having fun playing the game. I'm not saying that there were no toxicity back then because I sure as hell remember it, but back then the game was just generally way more enjoyable imo. Now the majority of people rather watch streams than play the actual game lmao.

The the first time was back in 2014 for the 5v5 map and the second time was in 2016 for the new - now deleted - twested treeline. It was fun watching so many players playing in a small map. As far as I know they will never release that mode again because their servers were overloaded.
A much better soundtrack from a much better map and a much better time in the game's history. Non woke riot, balanced around fun and not pro play, less champions with less cc and less insta burst, more thought out runes and masteries that allowed for more strategy and potential or covering for a champion's weaknesses... And a slower more laid back game overall. Now without it everything's squishy and dies too fast, for every mistake you're bursted in seconds even in the game's start.
the men who pioneered this game before riot became infested with sjws... they managed to make the game look and sound better in 2009 than it does today after 15 years of refinements.

Non woke riot, balanced around fun and not pro play, less champions with less cc and less insta burst, more thought out runes and masteries that allowed for more strategy and potential or covering for a champion's weaknesses... And a slower more laid back game overall. Now without it everything's squishy and dies too fast, for every mistake you're bursted in seconds even in the game's start.
the men who pioneered this game before riot became infested with sjws... they managed to make the game look and sound better in 2009 than it does today after 15 years of refinements.
