This is the coolest thing ever....lots of cars cant even go 100 mph on a rough surface like that...You are awesome kevin!!!!!
ye i agree
@@mohitmistry4811 same
Keep in mind that most of these RCs dont even weigh 10 pounds. Cars weigh a couple thousand. Plus cars run on internal combustion, not electricity, so they don't have anywhere near as much instant torque.
@@Schmoose what are you trying to say?
@@happyfuntimemusic7500 What im trying to say is of course RC cars can get to 100 mph offroad because they weigh next to nothing when you compare them to a car and they produce much more horsepower and torque for their size compared to a car. Its really shouldnt even be a comparison.
What you need to do is run grippier tires in the front and looser tires in the rear, Kev. We have gotten a typhon up to 78 mph on the grass on 6s using a leopard 4292 motor. Which is nowhere near as good as your TP motor. I ran Badland tires on the front holeshot pin tires on the rear. It will give you a more forward bias bite. We also used a Futaba helicopter head lock gyro on the starting. The forward bias will keep it from doing a wheelie.
if you still end up putting the dual motors you'll have more weight in the front as well to help with wheelies even more
Kevin.
A few thoughts for the speed cars.
Aluminium wheels will keep there shape better than plastic. If needed you can get them balanced.
A vertical stabilizer adds to the car will help at high speed but will affect steering at high speed. F1 cars have them.
Don't worry about weight too much as the full sized cars that do appreciate records weigh more than you think. Weight only affects the acceleration and deceleration, so you could put weight on the front if needed.
You will get the 100mph, but you'll be chasing 1/2 a mph at a time.
I love how you are preparing a car for a competition and showing the build process. Not making people wait till after so they don't nick your idea
Always brightens up my day when i get your notifications!
Kev, with a motor can that long, I would put a spacer or brace under the back of the motor, in case the motor flexes and the shaft bends
The shaft?, rather the cap would start coming off.
yeah the cap would come off but if the cap comes off (for me anyway) usualy the shaft bends too
Kev i used gorilla tape on the inside of the tires to keep them from balloning and it worked just have to get the strongest Gorilla tape turn tire inside out go around the tire then turn it back right and mount the tire back on wheel
When it gets hot, wet, sand or dirt in the tire the glue wears off, and at high speed turns the tape to one side of the tire, making it unbalanced and ruins the tire.
To many words
Just buy steel belted tires, it helped my e-revo vxl
Tg da boss 88 that’s the problem. No one, and I mean no one makes 1/8 scale off road tires with 17mm hexes that are belted.
@@itchyprince3793 they make adapters, and the proline badlands 1/8 scale are badass tires.
Kev wants world record
Also that’s a big ass motor
I race off-road in the US. Build some tires with double-sided vinyl floor tape you can buy at a home improvement store. It will keep your tires from ballooning by adhering the foam inserts to the wheels. The tire and wheel will still come unglued eventually over time but you won't have catastrophic ballooning and ripping away at high speeds. One other suggestion: the extremely high center diff oil weight robs the motor of its efficiency and power. Without thick fluid in the front diffs, speed is lost. Try something like 80K-200K-80K for a strong all-wheel-drive straight line effect.
that is the coolest rc car ever! love your vids kev!
Hi Hen
That thing just looks like an absolute beast!!! I can't wait to see what you finish with!! Love the content kev!! Appreciate all your hard work.
The competitiveness between you and Martyn is awesome! That along with the cooperation between the two of you and the think tank (Pat,Vinnie,8s Steve,Claire and Ian) this is going to happen!
When I first saw the title I thought big deal, off-road RC cars have going 100+ mph for over a decade. Heck, I even got my RC8 with knobby tires up to 86.8 mph. Then I realized he's doing this on grass! Now that's something. All the other buggy speeds runs, including mine, were on pavement. If he can get to 100 on grass that will be really impressive.
I wish I had friends like Pat and Steve :'( kev is lucky with the people he has... stay safe kev!
"Smash the bell" is the best part. 😂
Him throwing the bell today finally got me to click it lol
@@ZTK-RC haha
Go to the locked center diff from hot racing! And belted tires! I have my 6s Typhon Stock wheelbase and I get 83 to 86 miles an hour out of it. But I have a wing on the front to help keep the front end down
Kev, just a nod to ya, I fish a good bit, you could try braided fishing line, its stupidly strong for what it is.
This is by far you're best project ever. It's such an amazing machine kev!! Great work!!
i have been fishing for 5 years now and i recommend you try some Braided Fishing Line its strong. and you should try putting some small screws in the tiers for more grip
having screws in tires spining ant mad rpms sounds quite dangerous mate
Lmao good for ice only
It’s a good idea but braid is pretty sensitive to abrasions... I don’t think it would hold for very long🤷♂️
They also sell a line that has a led core that I think would work
That screw thing is a very bad idea they will fly out like rockets
Kev try weed eater line to belt the tires. I love your videos, keep up the great work!👍😃
I saw a video where a guy used the inside tape trick like you did with drywall tape, but used gorilla tape. He seemed to have good luck with it, even hitting the throttle with the wheels in the air. Used a heat gun to bond it to the tire carcass. Hope this helps, 4070 motors are one of life's best pleasures!
I love how he says “ give a thumbs up if you want to see more, and a thumbs down if you suck”😆😆😆😆😂😂 it is sooooo funny to me.
I know right but it is true

Guys don’t hate let’s get kev to 1M subs cmon cmon!!!
I cant stop looking at that UDR up there, its my dream RC
Kevin, I give you credit for trying to get high mph, I used to do this and it takes so much more then horse power, all the work in the chassis set up is mind numbing!
Kevin is always so excited making everyone else super excited, to be honest you are really the one that made me so invested in rc cars as I'm new to the hobby, even more excited I don't live very far from you. Keep it up kev
Kev I love this longer content so please keep it like this 👍
Hmm... the fishing lined tires are still ballooning, theyre just a thinner balloon. Those thin ruts are from the tires centers ballooning out but the outer staying set. Maybe do crossed diagonal wraps, drill concentric holes around the hubs and run the line that way. Fishing line has a TON of strength for its thickness, but you've gotta secure it carefully.
Congrats on winning, but you've still got more in her too, let's get her going even better!
What you need is some proper tires, you should give Louise tires a try. Something like
Louise L-T3109B or LT3131B should do the trick.
you should DIY a studded Dboots Hoons tire set for that thing!
How about putting a wing in the front? It could prevent it from wheeling?
Wicked fast! I think maybe a bit wider on the tires for more tread on the ground. She's got to "hook up" with the ground, traction gets speed in the high end. Great start!
BREAK THE RECORD KEV!!!
Try braided fishing line for tires Kevin, I am about to try it on my road tires for my Erevo. Trying to do the same thing break 100mph.
How fast have you got out of your e revo?
Yep, normal nylon line flexes. Exactly what you don't want.
Braided are also stronger for it's thickness.
I think it’s a lot of fun trying to see how much speed you can get outa your rc!! I look forward to watching the long jump competition!! That things gonna fly super far!! 😊
I'm glad they didn't charge you for that 70. That's why you said it went "seventy free" @ 9:47
Look at all those trucks!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Looking so forward to this long jump kev you got this bro i beleve proline have come out with a sort of rubberband the goes inside your tire over the foam ro stop the tyre expanding they designed it for the dragracing rc cars👍
Very promising tires, great video. But please be careful with those fishing lines and get them back when they explode in the field, I see all sorts of animals getting their feet strangled in them. And maybe the glue does play into the wheels being badly out of balance? You could try it on your bench, spin them up and see how they behave. Maybe even try a prop balancer?
Best RUclipsr ever
im sure others already told you. but use braided fishing line, or fluorocarbon. them lines doesnt stretch, braided even less than fluoro.
I'm in the 6% from Australia doing my part hahahaha
FPVAussieARMY same and we both like panthers
It was 3.6 were a very rare breed 😂
lolsame
Me to
Me to lol
When the tires balloon the diameter gets larger. Therefore you travel further distance with each turn of the wheel/axle, essentially going faster. Small wheels/tires are better for acceleration/drag racing.
Don't give up Kev! You can do it!
I run 1 million weight in my centre diff and the front still balloons, changing to a spool now.
TwitchFast try silicon ear plugs for swimming
You can make cable ties around the tires. I did this at my Thyfon this are super worked.
Long and thin will go straight in! but short and thick will do the trick!!!
Great video as always. The Typhon 3s and 6s seem to do well on grass and have no problem getting up to speed.
I love you videos Kevin you are the best RUclips ever I love you
You could try and move more stuff towards the front like the ESC to weigh down the front and stop the wheelies
It’s awesome how you guys are a team effort and everyone helps out.
I think you're goint to need a front splitter on that!
This is impossible in that field Kev. You guys need a larger runway!
I think they need an actual runway
500k in the middle isnt enough... lock it with these silicon ear plugs or use a spool. You just have a crazy amount of power in this car :P
But yeah, wheelying is a problem.
Kev you guys are a blast! 😆.. Thanks for your videos!
The rc hobby is awesome👍👍👍👍👍
should get a quick release gopro head band so you can drive and film ez XD very nice, waiting for the long jumps!
Put broader off road tires and ditch the rear spoiler and put some silicon earplugs in the center diff and put the 12s ESC and 12s batteries in there.
Then its definitely gonna go to 100+ mph . I guarantee u
Best bet kev get unglued tires and tape the inside it will definitely stop ballooning 😎 nice video 👍
kevin i learn alot from your channel keep up the good work am from Jamaica
Kev I dont know if this has been mentioned on here 100 times already and idk what you ordered for fishing line , but you want braided fishing line my friend.get a heavier weight rated braided line. Also vent the tires 🍻 you will let them breath a bit as well as getting rid of what ever goes in them.ive personally never had any form of good luck with duratrax tires. Literally always strip a hex haha but the build is epic man.i cant wait to see you break 100mph🤘🤘🤘
Awesome. I think you're going to need some kind of front wing on that thing if you want to get to 100mph on that oval, or any oval really. Bit of downforce and even a little extra weight up front will help.
Have you thought of modifying an X0-1 for offroad? That chassis can alread do the speed you want, more a case of making it handle. Longer arms from somewhere and some off-road wheels....
Fun to watch at any rate.
You bring me with every Video a smileon my face.
There's this type of fishing string, I think it's called spyder wire, and it is our favorite string to fish with. Strongest stuff ever.
Also put a front spoiler on it!
Take the tired and put heavy duty drywall tape inside the tires. And plus the heavy duty fishing string then there will be little ballooning at all.
Answer to Pat's suggestion of comments toward the difference between a thin and longer motor compared to a shorter thicker motor, this a rule of thumb we were taught...., "long and thin goes too far in, short and thick does the trick" 👉👌😂🤣😂🤣
By stopping the tyres expanding you are lowering the gearing as the wheels are smaller at high speed so you are actually making it slower!
True but it makes the handling much worse with ballooned tyres, and when your going that fast food handling is a must
Aaron Crain fast food handling ?
Kevin. Glue bicycle hose on the inside of those tires and be done with it 😉
Sup Kevin great stuff man. I would try duck tape or gorilla tape on the inside of tire. As someone else said. Just turn the tire inside out and put the tape a few times around ,flip them and glue them up as normal. Should stop the ballooning and get more speed. Good luck man keep up the good work.
Loving these videos Kevin... brilliant 😎
Makes perfect sense to raise rear and lower the front. As soon as you accelerate car or RC the rear squats then it will be level
I really hope you get the world record!! You deserve it!
Yo Kevin my brother, another great video, me and our entire R/C club from NJ send there regards to you. Your
friend from NJ Forgettaboutit
For the tires ballooning, glue another set, flip the tires inside out line the inside with gorilla tape, then flip them back around and glue them, then fishing line on the outside
Kev you should get braided fishing line, there is zero stretch in it and it is much stronger in smaller diameters.
Maybe he could do it but i think it's not gonna work because grass can kill rc and all the friction and the height of the grass it's not gonna let you hit 100mph. kev keep up the great work and have a nice day!!!
I believe in you kevin you will win!!
hi from South Africa. just put in some earplugs in my v3 kraton 6s today, man that CD is tight. saw you live earlier
Don't forget to heavily stiffen the springs in the long jump car so it doesn't tumble wumble to bits
Hey Kevin you should try putting some weight on the front of the car to reduce wheelies. I reccomend using something small and light so you can add more weights and have more weight variation.
I used 35lb braided fishing line. Do about 4 or 5 wraps around the tire and glue it. You should be fine with the way you are going.
I got 140ish km/h on my kinda stock TLR 2.4 sadly i dont remember pinion and motor and wheels. But i got it without the balooning effect... so fun following your crazyness!!!
I like the orphee aux enfers when putting the fishing line on at 4:37.
I'm sure you've heard by now but you ought to try 40-50lb braided line. Not only will it be the same diameter as your 12lb mono you have here but it won't stretch and become loose like it will with mono or fluorocarbon lines. It is also abrasion resistant.
Get kev to 1 million!
Super crazy playing and nice buildings cars !! ✌️👍
stuff the diff full of ear plugs it really helps the power distribution. use the memory foam type.
I believe you’re going to want larger tires there kev that will help with top speed and will lift the car up a little bit more for off road, also would recommend a front wing ! That will push the front down as well!
What tools are you using to work on your rc's? The bits are hard to figure out which set you are using. Love the channel!!
Awesome stuff guys crazy video haha them cars where shifting!! Top content as always pal
You know when Pat and Steve are there it's gonna be a good video
Nice. Try foam tires. No ballooning and they hook up anywhere including grass. How did your diff work?
The cars are still accelerating when you shut them down because you're running out of space. And they're still accelerating because putting the power down early causes the front to rise so you're having to feather the throttle. A front wing would help but would add drag. I think the cure here is to completely rearrange the weight distribution by moving as much mass further forward as possible. This is a design & build challenge for sure, but then who said this would be easy!?
Instead of fishing line, you could use Tig welding filler rod, I've seen that you have a Tig welder so all you'll have to do is figure out the diameter and make rings out of the filler rod, they'll last forever
What you have done with the suspension is abit extreme but it is better than It was
front low high rear, when u squeeze trigger, rear squats and front rises, leveling out the chassis... level chassis, squeeze trigger, back is lower, less traction up front
And maybe fabricate a small front wing or splitter to help put a small amount of downforce in the front! Just an idea!
Gonna need to spool the center diff throw on some bigger size foam tires you will clear 90 with the tp power 👍
Awesome vid as always Kev! Patiently waiting on my JLB Cheetah to arrive so I can get to upgrading 🤘🏻
