While yes, teams like the Bucks, Sixers, and even the Knicks at full strength would give the Celtics a fit, you have to play who is in front of your and Boston had it in the cards for a long time. It's a bit overdue, but this team was loaded from the start.

@oril22: Luka always raises his game in the playoffs, it’s not overperforming if he does it every year. He’s just that good of a player, unfortunately he’s not a great defender though. I’m assuming this but I do think he possibly could get in better shape & maybe improve on defense because of that, could just be his adult body. He did look slim when he first came into the league though

@@maxc2894 The real point though is they could have 4 all Defense players out there with him and he is still the weak link. Teams will continue to hunt him and drive straight at him. The West is loaded - people keep saying the Mavs will be back but I doubt it. Other teams will see this Celtics attack and go after Luka relentlessly. His other glaring issue is on offense, when he does not have the ball he just stands there like a spectator.
He needs off ball skills like Kyrie has developed, and at least passable defensive skills, or he will be nothing but another Iverson.

Boston plays well as a team chemistry is great and they move the ball. Lebron James got worked by Terry and Barea in 2011 because the same issue, ball movement and cutting.

Anyone that watches and knows basketball knew the best match up for the Celtics is the mavs. Because the mavs can’t play defense , all u go to do is stop luka from getting more than 5 assist and they would lose. The mavs have no one on their team that can defend any of the Celtics players.
Mavs got lucky they faced an inexperienced okc team avoiding Denver or the lakers, and preying on the timberwolves who went on 7 game series. The mavs window if they had any is closed cause I don’t see them even sniffing conference finals next year.

Luka is definitely on a all time great trajectory but this part of his game isn’t just annoying it also hurts the team and shows a lack of maturity compared to other star players like Jokic, Giannis, or even Tatum.

It’s funny , They overhyped the mavs this year when they had no business getting to the finals , but they didn’t overhype the heat last year when they had no business facing Denver . Nobody picked Miami to win . But this year everybody picked Dallas to win . Everybody slept on Boston because all the teams they beat , had injuries . They neglected the entire season and focused on the games against teams with injuries . This should be Boston vs Denver but for whatever reason they choked against the wolves .

Playoffs are about matchups & the Wolves matchup with Denver the best, they have the personnel to give Jokic about as much trouble as he could have. Mavs matchup really well with the Wolves, that’s why they’re in the Finals.

Luka is not disappointing at all. This Boston team is the best defensive team since the 3peat number 2 Bulls. That team had Jordan, Pippen, Rodman and Ron Harper. The Celtics have Holiday, White, Tatum, and Brown. A normal NBA team has to double team Luka and Irving. The Celtics, like the Bulls, have 4 guys that can switch and still play effective man to man. Very, very difficult to score.

I love how Kyrie plays awful all over the floor for two games, has one game like you'd expect him to have and the story is purely how disappointing Luka (who gave everything in games 1 and 2 to try to give the Mavs any chance). Also, how many times did we hear that the Celtics were in trouble to start? At first, it was just that Porzingis was better healthier than expected and he was the x-factor. Now that he's out, it isn't praise for the Celtics for some reason, it is still "The Mavs are just imploding.", basically. The Celtics are just a resilient and dominant team.
Luka needed to pass the ball more in game 3. He kept trying to go for the win and was hitting bricks
Kidd called the timeout because at that point the Celtics had taken several open 3's and missed and the Mavs had also missed consecutive opportunities to tie or take lead and they were evidently EXHAUSTED. Luka was missing close range shots and Irving missed shots. It was a timeout to regroup and it did not affect the game negatively. Luka has been leading his team for 3 months, he is not healthy, he is exhausted, he is not getting much help, and he knows that he is playing against a superior team. Stop changing and driving idiotic narratives. You guys are journalists and sport veterans, it is not a soap opera.

I was having somewhat similar thoughts last night. I've gone from being a pretty big fan of Luka to more indifferent from the last 2 series. I thought he was overly cruel to the Wolves, and talked baseless smack when he was ahead. Has been a high volume James Harden in the finals and whining alot from behind, right or wrong that's hard to respect.
He's still a kid and needs to mature. Team needs a leader. And he doesnt have the conviction and heart of a champion.
