Depending on the route and destination, sometimes I´ll deliberately have a longer layover because of customs checks and security protocols. I´m going to Japan again. I´ll probably go through Taipei from on the way back. I also like the option of Hawaiian airlines, because I´ll get another state off the bucket list. I´ll already be in US territory and cleared customs, before I even get to the mainland.
@@grrrltraveler for PH-bound flights, onboard meals are usually prepared by a catering company from the point of origin. So they would serve Japanese food for NRT-MNL flights and Korean food on ICN-MNL flights. They still serve Filipino food sometimes.

Yes it is. But probably similar to US carriers in that domestic gets less than the international flights. Yes. Special diets need to order at the time of booking. 😄 I did not book this flight
I will be traveling alone as a deaf person for the first time. I want to know if the flight attendants collects the menus after deciding what passengers want to eat or do they just ask when it's time to eat?
On flight P104 & P105, it's always when it's time to eat (I have very bad hearing, (and they talk so soft) no matter how many times you ask them to speak louder, they won't do it)

Finally googled it as there’s been comments from others about this airport and you’ll find articles online about it DHS has warranted Manila airport non compliant to their standards - I feel like it’s more due to excessive safety checks. 😂Articles say Manila is on high with terrorist attacks. The confiscating part seems to be a “thing” that’s a little suspect.it’s something more travelers have mentioned and I laughed it off in the video but there was something creepy about it that I couldn’t put my finger on. But the most disturbing news is there’s been a 2015 bullet planting incident where airport staff planted bullets in travelers’ luggage to extort money from them (as you can get jail time if you’re caught with firearms) & the gov denies. It’s given to rumors the airport was corrupt. 😅
I wonder how much difference between other airlines. I just just bought BKK > JFK and JFK to Incheon S.Korea for 671USD. What if this was ANA, Singapore or some other airlines, it would be more then 2000usd. Please no complaints in what you paid and give thanks for being able to translate your butt in a less than a thousand for a cross pacific r/t ticket PAL all the way ❤
Hey. Nice video! I’ll transit via Manila airport with Philippines airline and I have 1h30 minutes. Do you think this is enough time? I’m a little nervous 😭
FYI, if your layover going to the USA via country to country of course you will pass through security checks depending on each countries regulations. Another thing, SG to MNL is only about 2 hours in a 777 or smaller aircraft the service wont be the same as the ones with longer flight. Compare to interstates flights within the US like Delta, American or United they only serve cookies or chips, PAL to Manila served a lot better than the US airlines. Probably if you travel First Class you will have a better flight next time.
I had two flights in that video- I guess you only watched the first. Common that was a lot of security checks- in all my lifetime of flying I’ve never had that much.
My friend just got home with her Aunt. And told me it was their first worst travel ever! They wanted to fly with PAL hoping to get hassle free from Toronto to Manila but it turned out the worst travel ever. Lost their one luggage where all her aunts medication for the whole month. WORST!! They have their connecting flight that morning to cebu but the flight was canceled and they let them out and book another flight to cebu. Instead of having a smooth travel and a smooth connecting flight, they arrived to cebu at late night with an Aunt who has medical condition. They have filed a complain at manila airport for a lost luggage, never know what happened. I can't believed this. I won't be traveling with PAL. I feel bad to my friend with her aunt. How about those people travelling with kids? PAL should do a better service as you are carrying the name of our Country. What a shame!
Oh no!!!! I’m sorry it was such a bad experience. In the future tell your friend to pack all important meds in your in flight carryon. Lots of luggage getting lost these days. Good that they filed a complaint too. They’ll have an easier time collecting from their travel insurance co.
Have you had any complaints with the Philippines airlines? I heard they cancelled so much flights or delays occurs. It will be my first time traveling with them.
my Filipino said the security checks are very strict on local passengers compared to nonlocals they go through smoothly without even being questioned. I find it very discriminating how their people treated at the airport in manila
Hello Christine, I flew Philippine Air on my last trip to the Philippines and Thailand, I do recall all the security checks on a short layover in Manila. Bags claimed and re-checked along with your Passports, which didn't seem necessary. The process took so long, because of the number of people in transit, that the Phil. Air flight on to NY had to be delayed. That was in 2019, there must be a better solution...
I was thinking the EXACT same thing!!! Gotta be a better solution than to risk peoples’ flights. They actively pulled our bags from luggage, OPENED it and made us wait to identify it. I was so lucky not to have a long line or I could’ve missed my flight cause then the next security checks came. So your flight waited for you?
Outstanding video. Few things I've observed in the video, yes you look really exhausted travelling from point A to point Z at Changi international airport to get to the boarding gate, second is the reason for additional screenings is probably connecting flight to the US mainland and Hawaii is Department of Homeland Security and Department of Agriculture(prevention of entry of food and veggies into the United States) has made instructions to all airlines and airport operetors to do extensive and additional checks to all passengers entering into the United States even if passengers are US passport holders hence that's why you had to go through additional screenings from Singapore to Honolulu via Manila and last is the food, I'm impressed with the selection of food for a long flight including goodies. With respect to choice of dietary preferences like veg and fish items, airlines should had made accommodation to give preference dietary for veg and fish items. Overall it's a great video and a big thumbs-up 👍.

I remember that at Manila airport. You get checked excessively. Like 3 different times! Once from outside, another when you're already inside and again before the waiting area. It's their last minute to confiscate stuff that you buy at the airport but can't bring on the plane. It's ridiculous.
