@Bo build when your in angle mode you don't have to make one complete swing with you ratchet you can ratchet the bolt till you reach 90° .

I have a 2005 GMC Yukon I just redid the head gaskets and mine did not have those two small bolts at the end. They all were same size and mine is a generation three I believe crazy anyway I was very confused for a while but I did research and the torque specs is first pass is 22 ft. pound second pass is 90° pass and third pass is 70° all of them.

On 04 tahoe the outer bolt low closest to firewall driver side. When you put the head on place the bolt so that the treads come out the bottom 1 and 1 half inch tape the bolt so it won't stick out to far the set the hea on the dowel pins .if you try to get that corner bolt in once you set the head it won't go in

Is the 3rd sequence done properly? Looks like at 8:49 and at 8:53 you applied 90 degrees 2 times to the same bolt (same with other bolts adjacent to the center ones) shouldn’t it be working towards the outside from the center bolts in a cross pattern applying 90 degrees torque?
Please, the sequence was too fast, correct me if I’m wrong.
    Regards.

See my bolts are different from these. I went to autozone and they gave me those same bolts but those long boys didn’t work, I got a 6.0 lq9, my head bolts are all the same size as the little ones you put in on each a side

Hello, pretty straight info, i have a doubt, i recently change my headgaskets and refurbished my heads on the machine shop, i torque them to 75ft/lb, ( all the 10 big bolts ) but i have pretty small coolant leak over the heads breather ( it get on the oil catch can reseivour installed ).
Could be that i need to torque to the 3 steps torque method ?
if i retorque again, can we be only loose all the bolts and aply this method?
    thanks sir.

How are you doing I just wanna ask you a quick question on the two out of bowls for whatever reason the threads stripped inside I can’t get a torque on them most likely it may be due to water like you said I took a napkin and napkin came out of the hole with the threads wet Now how can you correct that and if can I tap thread a new thread in to the hole or I can use a longer screw and make up the difference washers can you get back to me thank you so much my name is Wilfredo

I just had this problem. I used a small flat head punch. Go in from the opposite side along the edge. You will feel it catch on the edge of the dowel, and just give some light taps with hammer

So aren't you supposed to clean out the bolt holes first to remove all the stuff gm uses from factory? I've heard this is a good idea. Doing rebuild heads and new cam on my 5.3 truck since I think my coolant loss is coming from a cracked casting

As far as the gasket is concerned. That initial run down of the bolts is probably the most important when it comes to sequence. SMH
