You guys are the best. Your videos not only offer very thorough and informational reviews of equipment and excellent examples of various sounds and settings but you make it fun(ny) as hell too. Cheers!
Another great unbiased review! I really dug the wind tunnel aerodynamic test. That beveled edge on the pedal will really deflect those pesky wind gusts when performing outdoors!!
I am not a complainer; nor am i critical of a product for no reason. However I must post this ! I used the Green Dual Overdrive pedal on three live gigs upon purchasing this last month. Just last week during my 4th outing it simply stopped working in the middle of our 2nd set at the same time making a loud hum - it was plugged into an outlet so it was not the battery. I have since made attempts to fix this with no positive results. I just needed to let you all know.
You guys crack me up. Love your product reviews! I was very reluctant to consider this line until I saw how incredibly aerodynamic these pedal were! ;-)
The Drive blows me away! I'm amazed that you get that much chunk out of a "drive" pedal. Sounds really good too! They finally released these in the US as well. Pretty reasonably priced. I can't wait to get one.
Love your reviews guys! Wish we had a local dist. here in NS, Canada... ..... isn't it ironic that the "Hot Metal" pedal came out of a "Marshall" fridge....... ( Just as the Blackstar founders did.....LOL)
I think you guys are very funny! You should have more subscribers! I found this because I just pulled this Blackstar LT DUAL pedal out of a drawer and I figured I purchased about a decade ago but just now getting around to playing with it. Are these still popular? Any popular recording artist using them? Thanks and cheers! Haha!
I bought the dual overdrive green pedal several months ago and have used it many times at various venues; both small bars and larger lounge type rooms. This pedal is very nice; however, I found it to have too much bottom end; no matter how I tweaked it, that bottom still reverberated through. It clashed with the bass and was hidden in the band mix. I ended up going back to my "Boss Dual Overdrive" pedal because it has much less bass and can be heard clearly and distinctly in the band mix. Don't get me wrong; its a wonderful overdrive sound; its just a bit too much bottom end. It might work better through a Fender or Marshal amp.
Will running that through a tube amp make it sound better than a solid state? Also, do you find it to be a bit bass-y, or does the equalizer work pretty good?
the equalizer works a lot like the eq on a tube head, in that small changes can alter the sound more than you would expect. I never had an issue with too much bass. It can pump out a massive low end, but I dialed mine into a nice tight, glassy tone.
Very nice sounding pedals. Especially when you consider the price. I do think that Blackstar have made a major mistake with the dual pedal though. Why on earth anyone would buy a dual when you can't use both sides together is beyond me.i think that the dual needs a redesign.
The Wampler Triple Wreck is the best metal distortion I've ever heard. I love mine. It can nail Lamb of God if you run a tube screamer-style pedal in front, and of course if you're using a good amp.
It runs on a 9v battery. Just two screws to access the battery bay. I bought one the other day, and ran it on a clean channel and a gainy channel. This thing is perfect as a treble booster, just gotta find the sweet spot for the bass knob. It seems to boost the bass ever so slightly even at 12:00. But you can hear the fullness of the notes.chords, as if to say, you better hook me up with some gain, yo! On the gain channel, this thing is just....nuts! And the switch is so smooth, since it does not click, you are not sure if it switched or not - until you start playing.
The reason the ht-Dual sounds so close to the HT-5 is because the majority of the gain from the HT-5 is solidstate, they've probably just taken the circuit and put it in pedal form.
I got the LT Distortion one... Plugged into my Laney TF300 sounds fookin amazing.. best sound I have ever had.. cant wait to get an all valve amp.. I wanna try the Bugera 1990 :).
Captain, is there any chance we can see a review video of the Brian May Rhapsody acoustic guitar. I seen it while browsing Anderton's for a new acoustic. Cheers Craig
Game of tones oh yes Love it. That even beats Captains Shih Tzu joke. Been waiting for this vid for a while and it didnt disappoint..... well apart from the fact I could have happily watched another 10 mins of noodling, banter and blackstar goodness.
The silent switching thing is actually pretty damn cool. I bought an LT Boost and turning it on and off is a breeze unlike some other pedals that I've owned like the Maxon OD-9 and TC Electronic Flashback. :) It does have a bit of grit of its own, though. Not a clean boost at all. It's a killer sound, but it's not clean.
I'd guess that the reason the distortion pedal is voiced to be quiet is so that you don't get extra volume pushing the clean channel of the amp. It's designed so you can get a pure distortion from the pedal alone, rather than a crunchy boost that drives your amp harder. This sort of thing isn't uncommon in distortion pedals, and to an extent it'll separate them from drive pedals.
I'm not saying that the pedals are bad. I actually think that they sound amazing for their price, but it does help that they are using what looks like a Fender Twin, and even if it isn't the amp can't be taken out of the formula. The amp processes everything, so I am curious to see how these would sound on a cheaper amp.
request a steve vai legacy 3 and an ibanez jem7v demo? Most demos on youtube here don't know how to get tone out of them things. You guys are great at that sort of thing.
all electronics change characteristics as a function of temperature. especially true for capacitors, transistors, etc. (which is inside these pedals probably). i would anticipate the gain being higher with a cooler pedal
I find some pedals that have a hard click can often have an audible noise through amps.. so the non hard click removes that problem.. but hey if you dont mind a sharp audible click coming through your amp... no big deal.
Best quote about The Captain - "I like the way your English impression was worse than your American impression... and you're English!" BRILLIANT Chappers!!!
You guys should try the new Fender Competition Series of pedals. There is a Overdrive, Distortion, Delay, and Chorus pedal. I own the Overdrive and Delay pedals and truly enjoy them.
5:57 LT Boost
7:50 LT Drive
9:12 LT Dist
12:00 LT Dual
14:16 LT Metal
You are a lifesaver.
nah the whole thing is gold
Not all heroes wear cape :')
You sir are a god amongst me
Sent by the cheap pedal board challenge, wasn't disappointed.
The last time I laughed that hard was the Miku video.
I refuse to by the distortion pedal cause im still waiting for the Chapman Unity Gain Pedal.
??
I thought Le's fridge at 1:08 was actually amps!!!! I need a fridge like that
It actually IS an amp if I am not mistaken!
an amp and a fridge???
Brendan Keleher Damn... it's just an amp apparently... The combo would've been awesome though!
Badger Fishing Me too!
Imagine doing a gig and in the middle of the performance, you open the amp and grab a drink. Now that would be badass!
LOL the aero test. I'd love to work for Lee, coolest boss ever!
love the aerodynamic test part. we need more of these types of tests on all the reviews!
You guys are the best. Your videos not only offer very thorough and informational reviews of equipment and excellent examples of various sounds and settings but you make it fun(ny) as hell too. Cheers!
Nicely done. I really enjoyed the full attention to each pedal , that's a "right proper" demo. Well done
Lee told me to come here and this video does not disappoint! I now see that I need one of these aerodynamic pedals for my pedal board.
Another great unbiased review! I really dug the wind tunnel aerodynamic test. That beveled edge on the pedal will really deflect those pesky wind gusts when performing outdoors!!
You guys are awesome! The comedic value is the best reason to watch Chappers and the Captain! The products are just a good benefit to watching.
I bought the Blackstar LT Metal and it sounds really Great, the best cheap metal pedal I ever used It's Amp "Friendly" and so Easy to Use.
+noni mercer it isn't shitty like a boss metalzone pedal is it? lol
The aerodynamic part nearly had me crying haha

I wanna work at Andertons.. you guys have such a laugh, but still make great music.
Bloody excellent.. Love watching your vids :0)
Fake. It's never sunny in the UK.
Beermaker2000 Oh it is. There's just no way of knowing when, or how long it's going to last.
You guys crack me up. Love your product reviews! I was very reluctant to consider this line until I saw how incredibly aerodynamic these pedal were! ;-)
"The metal pedal is so hot I've had to keep it in the fridge" :D Cracked me up.
@01:07 OMG I want that fridge. Love these guys :-)
great review - and the mr t impression was priceless!
The Drive blows me away! I'm amazed that you get that much chunk out of a "drive" pedal. Sounds really good too! They finally released these in the US as well. Pretty reasonably priced. I can't wait to get one.
I enjoy watching these videos so much. Thank you for making them
The drive pedal had more than enough distortion for metal.....
+Alex Wright my thought exacty , even sounded better than the dist ..lol
Im using the drive for everything, sounds sick
Hi Rob, good to meet you at the Northern Guitar Show in Leeds on Sunday. Thanks for the tips (guy with the 7 string lefty custom build)
I swear there needs to be more reviews like yours on internet !
Love your reviews guys! Wish we had a local dist. here in NS, Canada...

I haven't even seen this and I know it's gonna be funny. You guys are the best :)
Once again a perfect balance of brilliance and silliness..
You can buy it either from Marshall directly or if you live in the UK from Andertons!
Great review guys. That yellow overdrive box was my favourite, must check these pedals out.
I have the HT Metal pedal, but the one with a Tube. Best disto I've ever used.

Sounds really great! Really like the yellow and the black one!
Why didn't you try to put all of the LT pedals together? I'm sure a special sound gets unlocked!
You ascend to godhood
The skits have been way more frequent recently, and a good thing too, they're bloody hilarious.
Class review guys love the new show set up :p
It runs on a 9v battery. Just two screws to access the battery bay. I bought one the other day, and ran it on a clean channel and a gainy channel. love the reviews guys!! keep it up!
that marshall fridge cracked me up lol
Hey, Rob! After watching this I think you should consider changing on of the Chapman pedals to the Unity Gain!
Hunter Schmolze Probably. Also the guitar they were using is very nice. If you have good pickups and a nice tube or valve amp it will sound WAY better
These guys are a fuckin riot. Love their videos.
Chappers' sound effects of the pedal being switched on and off at 4:15 is thunderingly epic and awesome. X~D
"keep playing while I fiddle" Capt's greatest quote
The reason the ht-Dual sounds so close to the HT-5 is because the majority of the gain from the HT-5 is solidstate, they've probably just taken the circuit and put it in pedal form.
You guys ROCK !!
I got the LT Distortion one... Plugged into my Laney TF300 sounds fookin amazing.. best sound I have ever had.. cant wait to get an all valve amp.. I wanna try the Bugera 1990 :).
I got a video with a bit of me playing on that pedal if that helps... I mean I think it sounds awesome.. best distortion pedal I have had in a while.
Captain, is there any chance we can see a review video of the Brian May Rhapsody acoustic guitar. I seen it while browsing Anderton's for a new acoustic.
Cheers
Craig
Exactly what I was just gonna write! :-) Whooosh! Nice one Chappers!
Best Video you did!
Game of tones oh yes Love it. That even beats Captains Shih Tzu joke. Been waiting for this vid for a while and it didnt disappoint..... well apart from the fact I could have happily watched another 10 mins of noodling, banter and blackstar goodness.
I couldn't resist!

You made me laugh today guys! Great review! Funny!

Those blackstar pedals really sound good!

I'm using the LT-Drive with my Fender Mustang III(I know it's a modelling amp), and it still does sound pretty similar like in the video.
You guys are so crazy..LOL. I actually think the Drive and the Distortion pedals sound better then the Metal.
drive is angry jcm800 in a box
Great Video as always!
Awesome review, I like the drive the best. Chappers should do a new show called Game of Tones \m/
request a steve vai legacy 3 and an ibanez jem7v demo? Most demos on youtube here don't know how to get tone out of them things. You guys are great at that sort of thing.
I wonder if keeping pedals in a fridge does change the tone - I bet Eric Johnson has tried this - I will ask him when I next see him.
I like your videos !!!!
Greatings from Germany...
I'd guess the boost pedal mate, set it so have a bit a more saturation than the amp and that shud help cut through
all electronics change characteristics as a function of temperature. especially true for capacitors, transistors, etc. (which is inside these pedals probably). i would anticipate the gain being higher with a cooler pedal
Good video but the crooked chapman guitar hanging behind drove me insane! Lol
I find some pedals that have a hard click can often have an audible noise through amps.. so the non hard click removes that problem.. but hey if you dont mind a sharp audible click coming through your amp... no big deal.
i love that green jackson in the back but ML 1 is still my favorite
haha I need a job at Andertons!
Best quote about The Captain - "I like the way your English impression was worse than your American impression... and you're English!"
BRILLIANT Chappers!!!
Capt's voice is smooth.
Wind test, luckily Cap't will already smell of baby powder/pee-etc with the new baby lol but that was fecking funny.
haha Chappers actually smelled the pedal out of the box. Ultimate test!
You make me want to move to England so I can shop in your store!
Hilarious scientific experiment :)
Great video guys :)
THAT FRIDGE!!!!
You guys should do a video on the new (?) Mesa Pedals!
I cried after the fridge bit hahaahahhahahaa
You two are effin hilarious !!
You guys should try the new Fender Competition Series of pedals. There is a Overdrive, Distortion, Delay, and Chorus pedal. I own the Overdrive and Delay pedals and truly enjoy them.
I was surprised by it, but gave it a pass because you guys are awesome. Laughed my ass off when Stick took the bottle...
Dammit I'm sold! do they have these in the states yet? I was looking at the HT line awhile back, but now I'm thinking one of these for sure.
he now has to make the first chapman distortion pedal called unity gain
The talcolm powder cloud is classic, lol!
I only buy Aerodynamic pedals, so these are great for me. Gotta make sure my pedals can handle the POWER blasting from my cab.
nice video guys! only one comment : I prefered the dark grey color you had before the reno ...
I have the Blackstar LT Distortion and it beats my MXR Super Badass distortion which costs more than double
Great George! Jibber Jabber! LOL
I'm hesitating between the DST and the Metal...I wonder which one is more versatile 🤔
That Marshall amp is a fridge! I must have one.
The 75% level = unity gain is very common on pedals. It is to do with how the pots are made and how much internal gain the pedal has.
I've been looking for this answer for a year now. Thank you for this info
Awesome video, joe bonamassa fet driver?
Loved the first one, the boost pedal.
Ace fridge. Nice guitar what is it and how much is it?
Now on Ebay 2:25 Blackstar Boost, " Fresh" out the box..;)
The Blackstar LT Boost pedal is very good !
the old baby powder and fan trick......classic
