One of the biggest thrills of my life was playing the pipes in a St. Patrick's day parade for the first time. (Hollywood, FL 1999) Proud to be an IRISHMAN!
Come from England for New York St Patrick's parade, always wanted to attend, couldn't care about the sights or attractions, sick as a pig when they cancelled because of cononvirus
True. But don't forget the Scots and the Scots-Irish!!We've done our share along with our other celtic kinfolks!! Erin Go Bragh!!and Scotland Forever!!!
Not many people know that it was the Scots-Irish "over-mountain men" from the Carolinas and Virginia that whipped a particularly arrogant Scotsman(Maj. Patrick Ferguson) commanding a Tory regiment serving for the British at King's Mountain in North Carolina in the Revolution. Ferguson threatened to "punish" the "rebels" in the mountains just as the infamous Banastre Tarleton "punished" the Americans in the Carolina lowlands. A sharp-shooting mountain man rather decisively ended Ferguson's military career with one well-placed shot, and pretty much decided the battle after his brothers-in arms decimated Ferguson's Tories with their well-known marksmanship.
My Pop rode in Patton's horse cavalry (The Brave Rifles still exists though with no horses of course) prior to WWII. I had this played at his military funeral at Arlington.
It's nothing like listen I'm watching them watch playing the bagpipe band drums and bass drum or just excellent music puts chills through your body NYPD and NYFD I just fantastic they all put a wonderful sound when they play it just puts chills through your body made his music and them live on forever I get them five star excellent job excellent people ❤️💯🇨🇮🍀🇺🇸🍀
This air (the title literally means "John's Garden" in Irish Gaelic) started as a drinking song of the Limerick area, Ireland, prior to adoption as a regimental march by James Wynne's Dragoons, a unit that fought under William of Orange in the war of 1688. A number of British regiments used this piece as a march prior to its adoption by the 7th Cavalry Division, U. S. Army.
This is fantistic....Garryowen....!!!!.....fair play to you for posting such a great clip....!!!!...if your ever comming over to Dublin you have a friend...!!!!

Actually the Kilts the Scots wear today are not the proper original Kilts/Kelts which are IRISH. The Kilts worn today by the Scots were designed for an English King named Gorge, the first English King to visit Scotland for a long long time who refused to wear the Scottish dress, this so called Kilt which the Scots wear today is actually a skirt. It is not at all like the original Kilt/Kelt/ which is IRISH. If you want to look up this there are Dutch Drawings and Illustrations of the IRISH Dress back in the 16th and 17th Centuries which show the wonderful and magnificent colours of the IRISH Dress which are the proper Kilts/ Kelts worn. These can be found in books if you care to look them up. yours Brian Boru
Actually the tartan kilt you see today was invented by Victoria who was the queen of England in the 1800's. German descent and married a German. History is so fucked up.
Jeremy Charlie brosef. i feel you Native blood from both sides mixed with German. Funny part I ended up in 1st Cav lol while in the Army. I watch old westerns an I'm always confused on who to feel more for

Funny story about that! My high school band teacher was in the US Army Band during the centennial memorial of the Battle of Little Bighorn in 1976. He said that the last song they played was Garry Owen, and Native Americans rushed the stage and the bandsmen made a run for it back to the buses!

I never knew the history of it. Thanks B.C.
*Regiment, now part of the 1st Cavalry Division
The song emerged in the early 18th century in Limerick, and in Irish means Eoins Garden.
Would follow this straight into the bowels of hell and out again after kicking ass

Slainte'!
Patrick's Day or Paddy's Day but NEVER NEVER Patty's Day
Pipes have to be experienced in person, virtual renditions will never do justice to their in person experience
Great Video and music. However, Irish pipers wear Saffron Kilts, not Scottish Tartans!
These are the NYPD colors, so, you may not think they are appropriate but they have been wearing them for 60 years
Thats a BIG pipe band!! Sounds great tool
In person, it sounds even better
Happy St. Patrick’s Day 2021
