I always had a "someday" watch in mind for when I retire. That thought is completely gone now as the Heritage H35 is going to be my retirement gift to myself in a couple years.
Jonathan, this guitar in your hands is pure joy to my ears. Your playing and tasteful selection of music for these demos is unparalleled on RUclips. You have been the final word on my last few purchases.
I'm grateful that you provide such wonderful detailed reviews.

In principle, this is a tool for a professional, but for lovers like me, there are quite affordable ones, and it's easier, and they also please no worse. That guitar is really pretty. And has a slightly more sparkling sound as you play than I might have expected from a semi-hollow bodied guitar. Thank you once again for answering the questions we all have. One thing I would like to know is how the tone cleans up at low gain (the effect on tone etc) because I always find with 335 style guitars that the lower you wind the guitar's volume, the less precision you get in the tone controls - maybe it's me! However it would be great to know what you thought. That's the main thing that has kept me away from semi-hollow bodied guitars all these years, which considering the type of music I write surprises me quite a lot. Once again thank you Jonathan for the amazing fluidity of your playing, every guitar shines in your hands, but you sure know how to show us what they can do - I salute you!

Hi Jonathan, thanks for another good demo and review. A red 335 makes me think of Alvin Lee shredding at Woodstock 69 on his song I'm going home. While a bluesman, Alvin was much influenced by jazz. On my side I have a red 335 made by Tokai, an ES162 (€1600). It was slightly cheaper than the Heritage, still expensive but worth any penny. The Tokai stock pickups sound very close to the Seth Lovers. There are Seth Lovers in the Eastman T59v which sound so pure and clean like the Heritage 535 (€1600). On the cheaper side (still €900) , the Ibanez AS153 is still an excellent 335 clone with very jazzy pickups Ibanez S58. The Ibanez AS93 is another very good 335 clone in the more affordable range of €500, with higher output pickups S58custom, still beautiful build and finish.

Very nice guitar. Heritage, Is this the company that was set up by ex Gibson employees? If so I can see why they are not cheap, so long as they hold their value, I would consider buying one if I was in the market for a high end guitar. I think the Seymour Duncan Seth Lovers use an AlNiCo II magnet, regarded as giving a jazzy/blues tone. If you have the cash and they hold their value it would be well worth considering. These days it appears cheap guitars of this world have got much better and with a few upgrades you can have a great guitar, however the resale values are abysmal. I bought the Harley Benton equivalent of the 335, upgraded pickups and tuners and now have a great playing, looking sounding guitar. I’ve not compared it to anything else other than an Eastman guitar many years ago. The Eastman I demoed was the best guitar I’ve ever played, shame I could not afford it at the time - it was also stunning with impeccable workmanship. I’ve never played a Gibson of any shape or form, but I would love to try one, especially a 335. Can you do another demo of this guitar playing clean jazz/blues in a mix, I think this is where this guitar shines the most. Thank you Jonathan for this great video.

Jonathan Koh I thought as much, I would try out a few more 335 style guitars if you get the opportunity. I love mine it sits well on my lap when sitting down, nice light balanced weight. The sustain is great too. You seem to excel on G & L’s the most, they suit your style. I’m not sure what to get next? I might get a cheap Strat type guitar and mod it to my taste?

On your string bending video, I love the sound or tone you get, what I want to know is, is that a foot pedal or amp/foot pedal combination or coming from the guitar and your playing technique? That guitar sounds awsome! Warm, clear, well balanced but sparkling - love it. Sad me, it is far beyond my price range. Yet another idol to dream of.... Thanks for showing and skilled playing. Btw.: When you are playing what are the positions of the tone knobs? Make them a difference? If yes, in what range? About 40 years ago i played an Epiphone 335 in cherry red. Beatiful Guitar sounding quite well. But i sold it after some month cause i can't move on stage without issues tonewise. The whole guitar bends up and down. It wasn't very solid. Since that time i had never owned a hollow. What's with this Heritage, is it solid on a strap?? Have a marvelous time and stay well ☮️

jammin4good Even high end guitars need a decent set up and maintenance. Every guitar I’ve bought cheap or expensive has needed some work done to it. I bought a used, almost new USA Strat a few years back, the guy I bought from could not get on with it. That guitar was very poorly set up by Fender, shocking really. Everything needed adjusting to make it feel and sound good. Best get the work done ASAP, so that the guitar grows on you from the outset, rather than fighting it and end up not playing it or even selling it.
