Rescue Dawn Official Trailer #1 - Christian Bale, Steve Zahn Movie (2006) HD
In 1965, while bombing Laos in a classified mission, the propeller plane of the German-American US Navy pilot Dieter Dengler is hit and crashes in the jungle. Dieter is arrested by the peasants, tortured by the Vietcong and sent to a prisoner camp, where he meets five other mentally deranged prisoners and guards. He becomes close to Duane and organizes an escape plan; however, the unstable Gene opposes to Dieter's plan. When they discover that there is no more food due to the constant American bombings in the area and their guards intend to kill them, Dieter sets his plan in motion. However, an unexpected betrayal splits the group and Dieter and Duane find that the jungle is their actual prison.
Directed by Werner Herzog and starring Zach Grenier, Marshall Bell, Christian Bale, Toby Huss, Pat Healy. A US Fighter pilot's epic struggle of survival after being shot down on a mission over Laos during the Vietnam War.

The thing with Bale is that he chooses to do movies that are worth watching, you don't waste time watching Bale's movies, and they do not often contain stupid things, apart from Batman lol.

As far as I'm concerned Bale should've won the Oscar for his RIVETING performance as Dieter Dengler....Nobody could've played it better!!!

Northern troops lose more than a million soldiers, while of the 3.5 million American soldiers sent to the front, 58,177 soldiers die as well as 223,748 natives.

For more than 15 years I've been looking for this movie... I remember watching it on hbo with my late father as a kid but i never remembered the name... You know, it's so underated and we saw it by misstake during a commercial in another channel... Finally I found it

All modern trailers expose too much, terminator genysis anyone lol? Not that the movie would have been successful without the trailer, but they gave away everything , like john "becomes" a terminator , they even showed all their best action set pieces In the trailer, more and more nowadays I find myself thinking the preview was better than the movie ( not this one obviously but suicide squad anyone lol )

I can't wait to see this movie. My aunt informed me this movie is about her neighbor in California who was a POW. She said he used to take her up on flights and told her stories of this war she never believed until she saw this movie. She said he has since passed but was a great man. Can't wait. Why I never saw this I do not know.
She was talking about Dieter Dengler. One of my greatest heroes. He got a disease and committed suicide in front of a fire station in california. You should watch the documentary starring the real man, it will change you. Thanks.

Sad story for Laos we are the most bombed country in the human history by the USA. I dont see the guy in this movie a hero and sad that when he could return home didnt encourage the US stop the war. that doesnt seem he had it in his mind, nowadays Laos still suffer from the UXOs (unexploded ordnances) from the war and the people who were endangered the most are farmers and children. Recomend anyone wanna about this search" Bomb harvest" on you tube!

Although this movie is entertaining, I found out that it is far from what actually happened. False facts and they made Gene look like a dick. He was a kind man who actually was the one who helped orchestrate the escape plan, preserve the rice, AND made the key. The worst part is that the director of this film didn't even talk to the survivors who escaped before or after he made this film. He made it his own hollywood production the way he wanted it.

Well the first problem with your rant is claiming, as if you had any evidence to it, that the director never talked with anyone, yet the director made a documentary about the same event, he sure as shit talked to people involved. Having already made the documentary, he decided to make a Hollywood version, not an accurate version, the accurate version was the doc.
Good movie but strange that Bale is speaking Thai in the movie not Lao, as are many of the actors' lines.

The actual hero of this story, a British POW, was turned into a villain in this movie, and they didn't even bother to change his name. His family sued the filmmakers for defamation and won, and POW groups boycotted the film.
Really sleazy move on the filmmakers' part, and why I never recommend this movie to anyone.

@@kennethwallace5681 No, it's bs. My dad (Dan Farkas) was his roommate and friend and is featured in the film in the beginning and end. I met Dieter when i was very young, but he wasn't anywhere near a British POW. He was as German as it got.
