most players who have played with him will confirm that his understanding of the game is unparalleled
Surely they'd have to play with every other top SH to know that
@@timmasters1195 Not in this case. The only other SH who comes close in his era was Aaron Smith. DuPreez is a rugby genius and you can confirm that by watching his games. SARugby voted him above Joost for best Springbok of all time. They made a bold claim and they got it right too. He was unparalleled in my opinion
@@marnuskleynhans6270 I did watch his games, I'd say he was a level above Smith, but there were others of that generation I'd say also were, Genia for example.
Honestly I think he goes down as one of the greatest scrumhalves ever. Just such a brilliant mix of pace, physicality (for a 9), composure, and a rugby IQ that is hard to rival.
top 3 of all time no doubt
Why's is there a "?" in the title? OF course he is! He's THE BEST!!
@@maas9_63 lol.
Simple answer is yes. Whoever denies it doesn't know what they're talking about.
Top 3 and not 3. Always been above the rest, and always shows up in the biggest games against great opposition. BMT unparalleled. 🔥
I am glad you included at least one of his box kicks, because there has not been any other 9 ever that can kick a ball that high accurately.
That Bulls team could beat any national team. The 2009 Super Rugby season was pure dominance
Edit: does anybody know in what year was the try in 4:20 scored?
Based on the kit i'd say 2006?
Super 14 2006.
Best Springbok scrum-half to play the game. Should have won World player of the year in 09.
Right up there with Joost for me. Hard to pick one
Nice piece, thanks. Great intelligence from the smart half.
Impressive pace.
Legend.
The acceleration of the man, damm.
BEST TO EVER PLAY THE GAME
Dupont has enter the chat
@@larvlalo9773 he can leave as he came
@@deboradlamini4683 Cmon, be serious 2 seconds
@@larvlalo9773 Dupont is great, but he really isn't in the conversation yet. Once he's kept his current level for a decade or more at international level, then he will deserve to enter the chat.
@@aldobonaso3481 I'm sorry, but the peak he had is unheard of in this position. He has revolutionized his position, and if he lacks juice in the last few months, let's not forget that this guy is a bit the equivalent of Messi in rugby in the way he is so strong in so many areas and makes the difference all by himself.
After, if he is THE best can still be asked. He has not won a World Cup. And there are some competitors in his position, like Fourie, Edwards or Smith.
A fabulous player.
Yes. Definitely
Since 95 I’d go:
Joost
Du Preez
DuPont (could still climb higher)
Howley
Gregan
Smith in place of Howley, but otherwise all good
Best SA 9 (sorry Joost)
Top 3 world wide
Yes
My favourite Bok 9 and I'm not a Bulls supporter.
Just a clever class player.
He’s the best 9 ever
Die he ever play as a wing? He had blistering pace
100% One of the best tacticians and game controllers i.e. rugby players ever!
Yes.
Just quickly ripping off the band-aid with that first try's clip. Legendary player!
He created more tries than driving-mauls
He knows what's going to happen 5s before it happens
Someone’s been listening to the Squidge Rugby podcast ;)
A poor man's Bergamasco
Yet, so much more successful 😅
I love that some commenters above can't see even the clearest joke
@@jonnybaynham1689 It beggars belief
@@jackm2939 one's seen the error of their ways and removed. Must have checked Wikipedia after the fact
An highlight of Du Preez is what Dupont can do each game
that's the difference
dupont is miles ahead of this guy
Dead Puma on the field at 00:58, no one cares.
Yes
