I have to disagree with Aabria that Evan's situation is sadder than K's. It's hard to appreciate given the low point he started from, but this is a progression! He has a job, money, nice things, a (DRY!) place to live! He interacts with other humans on a regular basis and has at least one old friend he visits and keeps in touch with! HE HAS A POSITIVE INTERACTION WITH AN ANIMAL!
Completely agree. K has fully isolated herself from others on a serious self administered crusade online, and her familiar hates the situation, shes fully gone too deep on the isolationist spectrum. Evan is a sad boi turned normal guy. He doesnt have money. He doesnt have resources. He doesnt have family or kinship outside Dr B and Stitchnit. He fought his way to having comfort and stability from zero.
What I love…….LOVE…..from the details everyone at the table shared about the 3 yr gap is how they were affected by their experience at Gowpenny & how it impacted their lives. Jammer: It might seem that a lot hasn’t changed for Jammer, but you do see how the aftermath of revealing magic has impacted his athletic career & from how he was a social butterfly on season 1 to having just a hard time talking. K: It’s clear Magic has changed their life the most. They went from keyboard warrior in season 1 to using their knowledge to help anyone in need for magic & they’re on the run (I NEED TO KNOW WHY). Outside of becoming more of themselves, K kind of exchange being isolated in the safety of home to being isolated around other people & around their own familiar #PoorTeddy Sam: On the surface it looks like Sam has flourished the most from the pilot program. Having her own successful tv show, becoming a very popular celebrity. She IS the center of her own universe but you can see there are cracks in Sam’s demeanor & there’s a genuine sadness. From her exchanges with her producer & assistant, you can surmise that Sam doesn’t know what she’s doing & how to feel about it. I give credit to Danielle’s performance of always having Sam be in this happy & cheerful demeanor so when the quiet moments come they hit hard. Evan: Just from Brennen’s descriptions alone, anyone can assume that Evan is back to the same place he started in season 1. But I would disagree, Evan is more self assured of himself, he’s slowly growing more comfortable in his skin, despite what Brennen said by not having anyone to talk to, Evan does have the occasional social interaction with Dr. B. It is very clear that magic isn’t what impacted Evan, it’s the people he met. We don’t know what or how Evan & K are feeling about their break up (WHY DID THEY BREAK THEM UP) but we do see that Evan really prefers having people in his life.
Unfortunately i’ve made the realization that I related to everything that was supposed to be sad LMAO having no one to talk to, cutting my hair because i could figure it out, making very weird diy organization stuff, having only black clothes cause they don’t look dirty, checking a security app every day, forging emails for a job, everything has to be quiet so nobody can hear me, feeling the need to have my wits about me, always being READY (for who knows what), having ONE (☝🏼)video game to play and playing it until i can’t physically stand the overhead light and falling asleep, compartmentalization, having made an internal deal with seven eldritch demons that manifest within me, etc
As a Glaswegian iy knocked me through a loop hearing them do a bit in Glasgow. Aabria even got it the closest Ive ever heard an American get to pronouncing it without leaning to heavily on the end. Props.

It's all too relatable. When you live in fight/flight for so long, this sort of tense relationship with existing is too accurate and understandable.
