At 6:43 the best part is, in an interview the writers said that the line was originally "blind the child". It's hilarious that Disney didn't allow them to say blind the child but allowed burn the child 😂
I saw a video about that just yesterday
Always nice when censorship actually improves something.😅
@@thepixelman4776 *SPOILERS SEASON 2 FINALE SPOILERS SPOILERS*
Yeah kinda like when Bill couldn't say "I've got some kids to kill" but they were allowed to say "I've got some kids I need to turn into corpses" which is waaay better 😂
Logic
I guess it's because he wouldn't cause the kid to be disabled. Burn could be s temporary injury.
Every time I finish one of these reactions, I immediately want another; this show is gold.
I immediately re-watch the previous reactions desperately
It was so good
Absolutely
Ikr
Frrr I wish they released them sooner instead of weekly😩
Two things that always can be expected with reactions to this episode:
1) The prediction of Mermando being a Merman before he reveals it
2) The concern about the poor boy in solitary. "WHAT DID HE DO???"
Also “just throw him into the water!”
Each Saturday, we get closer and closer to meeting _him_
Yesssssss
Buy gold
the triangle
Golden Dorito
ahh yess, Big Henry :)
"Ah yes... Burn the child" my favorite Stan's quote.
0:43
You guys should clip that audio for a sound effect, that scream was great.
Pool Jail... It's such a great moment in the show. This show is just so fantastic.
The kid survived Weirdmageddon and STILL didn't get out... so tragic.
Though Alex Hirsch said that "He found a pool skewer he can operate the nearby vending machine with." so that's nice
In every public pool there’s always that one “adhesive medical strips” floating around.
I hate it when I see a *adhesive medical strips(tm)* floating around
I don't know the crime committed by the pool boy but when asked about the boy's fate, Alex Hirsch said that "He found a pool skewer he can operate the nearby vending machine with. Also he has a crush on the girl in a pool safety sign."
It’s pretty awesome to see all of them in Soos shirts. 😁
thats a great "question"?
There WERE a lot of people trying to solve the secret puzzles.
This is one of the funniest episodes in the entire series. Oddly nothing too special about it, it just hits its jokes so well.
The buttisland one was episode 2. Where they went to that island. The code for episode 2 is “next time return to buttisland” episode 3 has nothing to do with buttisland
Mr Pool Check is the most terrifying random civilian I've ever seen
YOOOOOOOOOOOOU !!!
The opposite of Tad Strange
And most hilarious
Makes me wonder what Pool Check was up to during Weirdmageddon.
Fun fact: the voice of Mermando was Matt Chapman, one half of the Brothers Chaps who created Homestar Runner. Matt provided the voices for all the characters in Homestar, and you can hear a little Strong Bad at 11:21. Matt Chapman was also one of the writers for Gravity Falls. He voiced several characters, a couple of which are still to come. I never see this brought up in comments about this episode, and it makes me feel old. Homestar Runner was a huge part of my teen years, and now it's virtually unheard of :-\
never heard of Homestar Runner
Which is such a shame, because I think Gravity Falls has a lotta that weird absurd humor that's really similar to Homestar. It's definitely not as surreal tho
I love how they called both Wendy being the life guard and Mermando being a merman AND even a free willy reference!
This episode sticks out in my mind as the episode that made me love the show. Poor pool kid
YES this episode is so jam-packed with jokes and I love it. Golf Wars and this are probably the peak when it comes to jokes.
imho this is one of the funniest episodes of the entire series. Yes, there isn't any focus on lore, but the laugh per minute ratio is soooooo damn high.
"So he is a mermaid"
"maybe it's a boner"
Fucking Rick always making me burst out laughing ahahahahahahha
They're freaking 12!
im so excited for y'all to watch this show. One of those "kid shows" that is really a great animated series with serious lessons to be learned. not particularly in this ep but in general
This is probably my favorite episode, the jokes were so random and funny
As a spanish speaker, y'all trying to say patos was the most entertaining part of this entire episode.
You all look like camp counselors with those matching shirts, I love it! XD
4 more episodes boys and girls, 4 more episodes
I definitely want some deer teeth
I LITERALLY CAN'T WAIT
@@michaelandrews117 Love that sentence, especially out of context
4 more Episodes until the Cipher
I cant wait for them to get to the plot heavy episodes, but at the end of the day every episode of this series is amazing
I'm not surprised how most of their discussion is about peeing in the pool 🤣
Calvin was really in a screaming mood this reaction. Jesus
This react turned into the ethics of pool peeing despite them never mentioning it in the episode lol
The translation would be: larga vida a los patos (de la piscina). At least in Castellano (Spanish from Spain)
Originally, Will Forte voiced Mermando but he was recast because Alex Hirsch, series creator and voice of Grunkle Stan, thought that his voice was too high. The role ultimately went to series writer Matt Chapman.
Believe it or not, Matt almost played Grunkle Stan but Alex was concerned that his voice was too similar to Strong Bad from Homestar Runner. In retrospect, Alex admits that Matt would've been a better choice for the role and that his concerns were invalid since Seth MacFarlene gets away with reusing voices on Family Guy.
Outside of Mermando, Matt Chapman voices an array of characters that Blindwave has yet to meet including:
- The Video Game Announcer in Fight Fighters
- Soos' Abuelita
- Sev'ral Timez Band Members
- The Puppeteer in Sock Opera
- The Hand Witch and Hiker in Little Gift Shop of Horrors
- Marius von Fundshauser in Northwest Mansion Mystery
Source: Commentary Tracks for Deep End and Little Gift Shop of Horrors.
I didn't know he could have been grunkle Stan. That would have been cool, but I do think having Alex do the voice was for the best. I knew Matt did alot of voices for the show but it's impressive to me that most of them sound nothing like the characters in Homestar Runner (except for the handwitch she does sound like teen girl squad )
@@olabradford Matt also voices a bunch of characters on The Owl House.
@@jstarwars360 I haven't watched that show yet. I know Alex voices one of the main characters. I really should watch it.
@@olabradford Alex voices Hooty and King. The latter is basically the voice he uses for Bill Cipher.
before you guys start the second season (i know you’re ahead on Patreon) you should watch and react to the Gravity Falls shorts. watching them inbetween seasons is a good way to do it. there are no spoilers for the second season because they were made before it
Loving the matching shirts
Every time I see Mermando, I wish for more Strong Bad. I’m just glad the Chapmans still make the occasional Homestar Runner animation on the side.
6:42 Hearing Grunkle Stan saying that is weirdly satisfying…
''oh they're talking kinda quiet in the beginning, i better up the volume--"
I don't know which part I like more. These legends watching one my childhood shows, or the fact that they all have matching shirts for it too!!!
My dad had a bad experience once in a pool, we went swimming when we were on holiday. And my dad had a turd floating by just a few centimetres from his face. He never went into any pool again afterwards.
How is that poss-
Oh
Maybe he put the boss hand on the water filter and it was cut off so he put the kid into the water filter as punishment and he was forgotten
Reliving all these awkward Dipper crush moments, it really makes me glad that the show **SPOILER**

addresses it right at the start of season 2, and makes it less awkward by getting it out in the open.
Imo, I didn't think it was awkward, I actually thought it was adorable
The first episode I ever saw, after randomly coming across one of the Dippers Guide to the Unexplained, on Disney DX. My wife agreed that we should record it, and we both consider this one of our all time favorite shows.
5:11 Was comedy gold.
That squad drip though. 💯
Reminds me of this summer in Oregon when it reached 115 degrees.
“ I actually have shit in a pool”
Me: yeah I’m gonna put my salsa down for this next part
I've peed in a pool one time as a kid. I was going to wait for my mom to take me but she was being too slow about it so I just peed and told her never mind.
the collectively disgusted faces at 3:57 cracked me up.
The beginning where the animal catches fire, reminds me of the first ep of Camp Camp!
Gosh I wish they would watch that! XD
Maybe one day!
Omg, I was thinking the same thing! I'm glad to see a Camp Camp fan over here since the show is sadly underrated imo :(
@@giraffire13 Gosh it really is underrated!
I really hope one day they get to watching it!! That’ll be such great reactions!! XD
This is my favourite episode of season 1
Well congratulations, guys, I am never going to go to a public pool ever again.
0:44 Damnit Calvin, you scared my cat!
A dorky kid crushing on an older attractive life guard named Wendy? Sandlot reference anyone? Lol
I love how you all enjoy the comedy of this show and how vocally you show this
If I ever peed in the pool, it would have been when I was too young to remember. If I had to use the restroom, I'd get out and go to the actual restroom.
Yesterday. I peed in the pool yesterday. In my defense, it was an indoor pool and the pool bathroom was closed for cleaning.
They brought this on themselves.
Where us this pool poll? I will vote an emphatic no.
when Aaron started singing 'Message in a bottle' right when I thought it 😂
I can’t wait for the next episode! There’s a certain scene I’m know you’ll be shocked to see.
love the shirts guys🤘
Hilariously Mermen were brought up in an earlier episode with the Manataur. 😆
From the sound of it Manataurs hate the Mermen as much as Dwarves hate the Elves from LOTR, because they're the only ones they called "losers" out of the mythical creatures they named. 😆
*The Rubber duckies Revolution is at hand!*
Lifeguard man feels more like a Venture Bros character
Getting closer and closer to The Episode
Cant wait for yall to watch the last few episodes of this season
I have never committed such an act
It’s weird how much stuff you remember from shows you watched as a kid while simultaneously not remembering watching the show
Looking great today kings 👑
I love the Wendy Peppercorn Sandlot reference lmao
Calvin with the perfect home alone Marv scream. I never thought I’d see it again.
Questions the question mark... x4? 😁
mermando rlly out here pulling both the pines twins lol
4:25 The moment I realized all the guys were wearing the same shirt.
The filter kid!🤣
As a latinamerican it was really fun seeing you all trying to say the phrase xD you just read it as it's written, no special pronunciation :3
With every episode we get closer
Ah watching your reactions is so good and hilarious! Makes my day better
The guys looks like a semi-professional paintball team, if that’s a thing
Lol! Never thought about the finger thing in the fake hand
4 more weeks boys!
Hi guys!🤗 I am really happy that you're enjoying the show! 🌈 Btw i've pied in the pool when i was a kid! And also it's one of the main reasons why i only go to the beach now!😋❤
7:24 Hey, it's that one guy's wife.
Farmers have to run heaters for pigs in the winter, especially if there are babies
I want to start a campaign to get you to watch Steven Universe once you finish Gravity Falls 🙏
My god your all wearing Soos' shirts! You truly are now Gravity Falls fans.
Poolchek always reminded me of ren and stimpy too.
What's with the Riddler Shirts?
:P
The lesson of the episode, "Don't poop in the pool'
That coach is unhinged
Wait wait wait. You guys are doing a Gravity Falls reaction series?! That's actually awesome.
Side note, what would you think of a Star vs the Forces of Evil series....?
There's one in the beginning theme song! A cipher
funny to see you guys trying to speak spanish, i now imagine how i sound speaking english xD
DID RICK JUST MENTION THE RUNDOWN, WTH. THE MOVIE WITH THE ROCK 🤣🤣 I know what he’s referring to as well
Gravity Falls 1x15 REACTION!! "The Deep End"
Nice shirts!
I am gonna reuse my previous recommendation, BoJack Horseman. Seriously, that shit is easily top 5 shows I've ever seen. First like 6 episodes are a bit rough, but this show has some of the best episodes of all time and the second to last episode The View From Halfway Down probably IS my favorite television episode of all time tied with Ozymandias from BrBa
Seconding this
Pretty sure this isn't the place to recommend shows.
@@bluebird0064 oops
It's coming guys can't wait for them to react to ep 20
super late, but Alex Hirsch officially stated on twitter that the boy in solitary was put there as punishment for treason, though further information was not provided beyond the word
"Too much chlorine" ☠☠🤣
