Yeah I watched that it was weird and strange. Ok I thought some of them were so weird I just stopped halfway through I was concerned until you said you were on the meds
I vividly remember the ASMR video. Yeah, it did the skin tingly thing, but I also loved it because it felt very much like you rolling with the punches. Life handed you lemons, and you made margaritas out of 'em.
This is what being sober and re-watching movies and TV shows you know you watched during that time is like. Kinda like discovering it and remembering it at the same time, it's trippy
When my brain went south. They said I was put in a coma. Months of memories were wiped. People tell me you said, or don’t you remember? Nope. I was anxiety free during those days. It has been amazing watching your progress these past year.
I loved the "high Jo" videos. It was pretty clear you were pretty high, but it was good to see them because it meant you were okay. I was so worried about you then.
I remember your very first videos hitting my RUclips recommendations all the way back in 2018 ❤️ seeing how far you’ve come over the past two years and cheering you on every bionic step of the way has been an absolute privilege 🥰 so freaking happy for you Jo!!
Someone had the bright idea to let me have my phone when I stayed overnight in the hospital after my first ankle surgery... I made Facebook posts about being on a cloud with Graham crackers and morphine and texted all of my friends some really bad jokes. That was fun to wake up to the next day.
That actually DOES sound fun...to have a record of that particularly trippy brain activity? Pretty entertaining. How many of the jokes were S'mores related?
@@amyhull754 This is the only one I remember (this was six years and a few phones ago): "What is it called when they cook chicken at a frat party? A bro-tisserie!" Pretty sure they were all on that level.
Thank You Jo. It’s an honor to hear your story and watch your progress. It gives me a measuring stick on my prosthetic progress (btk about 6 months behind you). I too am blessed and thankful to all who have contributed to my well being. Your honesty and no b.s., humorous approach I highly admire. And by highly I don’t mean an oxy one! 🙏
Thank you Joe. My amputation year and 1/2 ago below knee.......prosthetics followed. You have been my teacher, cheerup, inspire source. I loved the ones you just labeled drugged... I pray for you every day.
Hey girl! I remember watching those leading up to my amputation. I felt so bad for you but glad you had gotten through it ok. 7 days from now is my 1yr. Time has flown by! I am not up to the level you are with my prosthesis but getting there, getting cast for my 3rd one on Tuesday. I want to say thank you for your support over this past year, it has meant a lot! I did not make a video journey of my recovery but went through texts last night from my oldest son who messaged me everyday and visited when he could. I was in the hospital for 4 days and rehab for 15. I remember coming home and my dog freaking out seeing me. She slept by my side for the first few days...least I took lots of pictures...I should make a video diary with them! 💜💜💜 #amputeebuddies4life
Footless Jo! It hurt my Heart when you had to have the 2nd Amputation & your disappointment was palpable! All the plans you had made which had to be put on hold. Conversely, my Heart has been lifted by all the recent Progress you have made! Excelsior!!! love Steve Holliday
Aw thank you SO much Steve! That means so much to me - especially coming from you. You've been here for so much of it and I still always look forward to your comments! 😊 💜 Thank you!!
I remember waiting for those update videos with so much concern for you, and to see you a year later side by side with it smiling makes my heart so happy ❤️ Your journey is so inspiring and you’ve opened my eyes to so many things about ability that I hadn’t been privy to. You’re a fantastic human (:
I had a mental breakdown at the beginning of 2017 and I have no memories of Jan-apr except spending a lot of time in pjs and watching RUclips. Traumatic events can cause your brain to just forget large sections of time to cope. Glad you are in a much better place now and can laugh at it looking back
Those were some really good drugs!! You spoke so well and looked so bright and alert in most of them but to put your leg back into that cast and not make a peep from the pain it would have caused if not on those pain meds I say bravo to you and to the pharmaceutical industry!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I've been here watching you since December of 2018, so not too long after your initial amputation, and I've watched every part of your journey since! I'm so happy with how much you've grown since!
The whole statement of how it feels to know you have 'zombie leg' under your cast is something I've been dealing with for months now with my foot and yeah wow it truly is an interesting feeling. Luckily my foot is improving. Slowly but surely. Also similar to the ASMR I did "Hospital Food Reviews" while I was heavily drugged in the hospital and they turned out hilarious.
when i saw these videos it reminded me of my 6/8mth drugged phase after surgery. i have lost most of my memories from that time also. can't believe its been a year for you already.
Saying that an amputation didn't work sounds like they tried to chop off your leg but the axe or sword wasn't sharp enough. Like the good old guilotine in the French Revolution. I think this would drive me over the edge in to complete insanity. (As if I'm not enough of a basket case already. ) "Drugs are fun kids." That made me lol. I will confess I can't remember how or why I started following your channel Jo , but I'm so glad I did . ❤❤❤❤🙏🙏bless you.
Oh, I remember watching those videos when they came out. It was kind of adorable and very admirable. You just doing this because you wanted to do something "normal" despite clearly being exhausted and in pain. Also, for a med student, the zombi leg was fascinating, thank you for documenting it! ;P
Lol I remember watching all these videos the cast falling off was both scary and funny at the same time. I cant believe its been a year since that all happened. Feels like just yesterday I was watching all these of you. So happy for you that this happened the way it did and how much better it went the second time.
I don't remember waking up from my (6 hour) jaw surgery the first 2 or 3 times. I clearly had to have woken up the first time with the nurses so that they could get my family, and I was told I woke up when they came in to get me in the recovery room. But I don't remember waking up until I was being rolled in the hospital bed into my room, and it was pretty close to the room, so I think I might have woken prior to that on the way there. I may have remembered one of the wake ups at the time, but I have since completely lost that memory (or blurred it with getting my tonsils out).
I have been subed for a while and watched all your videos, Im disabled with bad back and birth defect. Thus a lot of pain killers also. Ive had a lot of moments I dont remember, but im 61 and been taking them for 15yrs. I do love your videos even if you dont remember them. haha
SO glad you're off the meds! You always have a "sunny" personality in your videos BUT seem much more natural and less forced now. Of course, things in general are better but I think that a huge part belongs to being drug free. Stay awesome!
I actually remember watching these! I seem to remember thinking that you were doing quite well to be able to edit. In a way, it's sort of funny that you can't remember. Post surgery memories are always a bit strange I think. My wife has told me some of the things that I've said or done after surgeries. I'm glad I didn't record those. :)
When I spent 3 weeks in the hospital, I have no memory of most of it or the many conversations that happened during that time....but I *do* remember getting that same back rash, which sucked a lot. A. LOT!
I think we all remember how hard you felt it when the first amputation didn’t work properly and had to face doing it again but look where you are now. Off all those meds. Able to go for nice walks with your dogs. It was the right decision and you are better now and all that is your troubled journey getting here but it was worth it
I remember your ASMR video as I was coming out of a migraine fog. I think I commented on it and then messaged you a picture of my dog on instagram because the video put my then 12 week old puppy to sleep.
I'm wondering if losing time after something like this isn't more normal than you might think? I also had revision surgery on my amputation and the first couple weeks after both procedures are still at best floating somewhere in my internal recycle bin. Also, never expect that you know what to expect. I do remember the first time, I was transferred from my hospital bed, rolled to the surgical theater, chatted with the docs, signed some paperwork, put an X on my leg (so they'd know which one to work on?) and woke up again in a special recovery room. Second time around for the revision, an anesthesiologist came in, played with my IV a bit, and when I asked when we'd be ready to go, he told me ... right ... about ... now. Woke up from that one back in the same bed, wondering when we'd be ready to go ... Huh? Wha?? ;-}
It’s scary reading a text you’ve written when on painkillers or coming out of it at the hospital. The memory is sorta there, but not quite. The brain is complicated and fascinating!
Hi Jo, this video made me laugh because at the time I didn’t actually find those videos weird or anything but with your reaction a year out it’s actually petty funny! I shattered my femur. The pain from the surgery to insert the rod was intense. I remember waking up screaming obscenities. Then they overmedicated me and almost suppressed my autonomic responses. Blood Oxygen was way low.

Great question! I think I would have felt about the same, honestly - I have flashes of memories from all of it, just missing huge chunks, and after those first two weeks the next four were still really, really rough to get through and recover from. 👍
I have an entire year missing from my memory, without drugs. I was 13 years old at the time, and in shock, I guess, from starting at a new school with a horrible teacher. A couple of years ago, my friends were talking about a bicycle ride they hade been on with the class. My ankle is currently broken with mushed up ligaments (again). One thing I always struggle with despite the drugs is sleeping. Any tips? I’ve been doing what I always do, laying on my back with it up on a pillow but I just can’t get comfy and I’m very sleep deprived right now! Thank you

Hey girl!!! Can you tell me what kind of leg you have now? It's important to me! Love you so much!💥❤💥
It's crazy because just yesterday I was recommended 3 of your old videos from a year ago..it was the phantom pains videos..
You have to do a meet up next time you visit your Columbus friends, even if it’s a social distanced meet up (I live nearby 😬) !
Hey Jo, I'm curious if you're going to do any Christmas painting this year? Like you did last year? If so, when do you think you might start?
Footless Jo, how in the world did your cast fall off? I don’t usually say “how in the world”.
You introduced me to ASMR.

I liked your ASMR video even though you were clearly medicated.😁 would you ever do another one? 🙏
HaHahaha you got me cracking up over here😂
Been watching your videos ever sense the first amputation. Your a pleasure to watch and it’s amazing to see such a beautiful chapter blossoming now.
Can you explain more about how your first surgery failed? Did it just not heal right?
I think she fell and it got complications :/
Can someone please provide links to the videos she references so I can watch them in their full glory at some point
Here ya go!! 😊

I love you bb 😌 you the best
I legit thought for a second that to re-amputate your leg they had to reattach it first.
Wow, I can’t believe it’s been a year already!
Can we see Brian more? 😜🥺🥺🥺
Hi, 1st of all keep up whatever you are doing! Ur a beautiful woman xx i always had one curiosity to ask an amputee..
At first did you ever sleep and in the morning forget you had an amputation? If yes how did that feel? Or would you think it was a bad dream for the 1st moments? Sorry for asking but it was always a curiosity i had. Much love to you :-)
