In addition to annual costs, we cover the cost per hour and cost per mile to operate. We also cover key performance stats so you know what you're paying for.
Costs of airplane ownership vary widely from owner to owner. This video takes an average of the various expenses from existing owners and boils them down to simple to digest numbers. Your ownership experiences will be unique. - Авто/Мото
"So you want to buy a Cessna 414A. We all have at some point. Here's a little reenactment of anyone who's ever been plane shopping. Yeah.. Yup... I can make this happen."
I feel seen.
With these large aircraft it would be interesting to see a cost per seat mile category as well
Easy enough to calculate, but bear in mind that having just a couple or three seats filled in a six-or-seven-seater is the norm!
Time to put the A380 on the list. Bet you can't beat that price!
just divide the cost per mile by the number of seats you plan on filling, easy
Not at good as you think.
First is the useful load problem. The 421 is better in this regard, while the 340 can carry fuel or passengers but not both. So no brainer… 421, right?
Then there’s the second problem. Most airplane owners seem to start out with a “mission”. A way to justify the plane from a time and money perspective. They want a six or 8 seater because they want to take their family and friends.
Well… a few mechanical breakdowns or weather delays or perhaps scares… and all of a sudden people aren’t interested anymore. So now you’re flying this big huge plane by yourself or with one other person. And shockingly… not really getting there much sooner than your friend in a Cessna 172 for that hamburger run.
A better way to measure a plane’s value is in smiles per gallon.
So you want to buy a Cessna 414A?
No. I don’t. But I love these videos, so I’m watching anyways.
You should have a metric that's basically just "How many years of average costs do you need to save to buy the plane?"
In this case... About 3 years.
As in amortizing the value?
I flew 421s and 404s early in my flying career. They can be maintenance hogs but both airplanes were so much fun to fly. There is an amazing 414 in Microsoft Flight Simulator where shock cooling and high operating costs aren't an issue.
Thanks for all the uploads of these! Very early stages of airplane buying and you have given me so much insight into the world!!
Top notch!
I love these planes that have 8 seats, but can only carry maybe three people if you have your tanks full. It's like a tent- multiply how many people you need to fit in one by 3.
It would be interesting to see a cost and capability comparison between 414 and 441, Navajo and Cheyenne. Wonder how much extra cost are those turbine engine going to add.
I flew a 414A chancellor for survey. Rock solid instrument platform, RAM modifications gave it excellent power, fairly reliable but it was never 100% operating perfectly. But I will say, if you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.
I applaud the Ferris Bueller quote, well done 😂
Would you recommend 16 or 32GBs of RAM?
I flew 414As as air ambulances and 340s on charter. Didn’t see those kinds of speeds in real life. Maybe 205 for the the 340 and 180-190 kts for the 414A
The first 15 seconds really hit the nail on the head. 😂
I just finished watching 206 video and this came out! Thanks for video!
I commented on the R22 for this one and now here it is! Not saying it’s because I asked, but thank you! Big fan! Hopefully you go to EAA this year, they have a RUclipsr/influencer area, would be cool to see the channel represented
Let’s go! This is awesome, thanks!
You know, since the Martin Mars water bomber is currently for sale, I think you need to do a video on that. You know, to help out the potential buyers
Now THERE'S a plane that fits the cliché saying of " if you have to ask you can't afford it 😂😂😂
Great video, as always! Can you do one on the Cessna 340A?
Very nice, how about the 441 Conquest II next?
Can you do a video on the Cessna 340A?
AW HELL YEAH. BABE WAKE UP NEW COMPLETE WALKAROUND VID DROPPED. Sunday saved
Would you do more kit planes? Would love to see cost to own and service for some stuff like Titan 51 airframes, or the WAR aircraft replica kits. Otherwise, love your videos!
Good video! champ next? fingers crossed
Hey, can you do one of these on the Consolidated PBY-5A Catalina/Canso?
And now some more lines. If you could only give presentations like that at the office! Brilliant
Can you do you about the 421C?
As a AME on a 340 can confirm they are a maintenance pig that has a lot of old moving parts that are now getting harder and harder to get my hands on
Can you do one on Cessna 402c and 404 please?
Come on, all us TrimTab watchers want to see that beautiful Aerostar up there!
I think I accidentally found where the rich people hang out on youtube
Could you do the Titan T-51 mustang, please?
Can you do a beach 18 or a beach 18 on floats?
Can you do a review of owning a Boeing 747
Cost per hour inline with a TBM?
Could you do one video on the Wright Flyer 3. For the true flight purist and those who wish to figure out how much it will be for the more historically inclined.
Hi, What's a flight purist?
$2000+ a month for hanger space? Where are you storing it?
What about converting these to electric, two 300hp axial flux motors?no fuel or overhauls.
Can you do a T-51?!
Great video! Can you do gyrocopters? And or BearHawks? Thanks!
Awesome
Turbo Duke is still my dream airplane
Get a twin without an engine designation beginning with "G".
If you need power, IO-580 x2.
Way to crush my dreams with reality once again.
I love that 2 of the airplanes shown were the liquid-cooled 414’s… I think they only made like 4 or something….and Patrick Swayze wrecked his.
Doesn't the Chancellor have tip-tanks?
I'll take 2 please
Would love to know about the 402
One of the best twins Cessna made. It was unpressurized and low powered so cheap to run. That’s why Cape Air has been flying them in commercial service for decades.
20yr A&P nice aircraft engines access isn't bad other inspection items are a pain and yes it's a high maintenance expensive toy to own...
Mmmm twin pressurized "value"
Thanks Matt. 1 step closer to my 414 😃
Why so short?
Well, that burst a big bubble....thanks?
I feel dumb for asking but how come the hourly cost down when flying more hours?
The fixed costs are fixed. The more you fly the more hours they're divided against. If you pay insurance, hangar and annual expense, say 5k, then fly for just one hour in that year. it will cost you 5k plus variable cost for that one hour. If you fly 1000 hours, the 5k is spread across them
Hahaha the intro had me dead
Off topic, would love to commission art if a plane in your style, if that’s something you’d be interested in lmk.
Sure, Email me at info@completewalkaroumd.com if you would like more info
As a mechanic, I would rather take a high dive into a pool of razor blades and Iodine.
But then I like my money in the bank.
0:08 This is me
The more I watch these videos the more I realize I'm destined for a WW1 replica. 😂
But what I acquire a free 401
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$?
How many seats do they usually have?
7
Well now you're obligated to do the Aerostar, it's the law.
The cost per mile, fucking hell!!!
There's a 340A asking for $150k.
Is it a lot cheaper to run than 414?
I am making around 25k a month, but still burning almost 3 months of income on 50 hours of flight time a year seemed crazy.
A $150k 340A has something MAJORLY wrong with it lol.
Both the 340 and 414 use the same TSIO-520 engines. 340 vs 414 would be a wash as far as cost to operate.
@@GWN_Garage There is nothing wrong with it except it is in the Philippines where you can't find any buyers or people who can afford it.
I figured I can afford it, but couldn't afford to keep it lols.
Cost to own a UH60 Blackhawk?
I need luck on my side in order to afford anything above 300k this day in age
My goal is to be very lucky!
Good strategy
"I could make that happen" 😅😅
Does the 425 resemble the 421?
"Buy the best one you can find, and then be very lucky..." 😂
FIRST!!!!!!!!
Every video is freatt
is freatt a good thing?
