You do know that Rollo and Ragnar were not brothers in real life. Rollo was born many years after Ragnar died. They may have been related however it’s unlikely. His real relation was King Harold but we don’t know if they were cousins or distant relatives. King Rollo didn’t betray anyone he kicked the shit out of Normandy and the lords of northern France offered him huge amount of lands. He later rose to power as a warrior king and his kids would go on to unite and rule Normandy. Rollo was a Viking Warrior king but he was not Ragnars brother and he didn’t betray anyone in real life. Rollo was probably the smartest and most successful Viking of all time. His descendants still sit on the Throne of England aka Queen Elizabeth II. He’s my favourite Viking strong, noble, driven and a true leader.

@@zub41r75 That's true...except for the bit about Queen Elizabeth II being descended from Rollo. The descendants of Rollo killed each other off in the War of the Roses and were succeeded by the Tudors who were then succeeded by the Stuarts who were then succeeded by the House of Coburg Saxe Gotha which changed its name to Windsor after the Second World War to hide the fact that it is actually a German family. In fact I am probably more closely related to Rollo than the Queen is, and possibly so is my upstairs neighbor, an extremely large Metis whose last name (Gagnon) is the same as Rollo's nickname and would probably have as much trouble as he supposedly did finding a horse big enough to carry him into battle.

This show sadly makes it appear that Rollo was the only Norse that settled in Normandy and that he lived alone amongst French soldiers and courtiers. When in reality thousands of Norse settlers settled in the area. For at least 2 generations they were noticeably different in terms of culture and language than their French countrymen, but they gradually merged together and formed the distinct Norman culture. I wish they would have dressed the soldiers to at least appear Norman/Viking rather then French.

Sigurd Snake-in-the -eye dies almost as a kid? I heard this news but I hope that won't be true eventually. And I certainly hope they won't spoil King Harald Finehair by making him killed by Lagertha to get revenge for the attack... I really hope so. If they destroy the story of a great king, hero and the first king of Norway, then this show officially has nothing to do with History.

I'm not an expert by a long shot, but the Vikings converted quite early to Christianity (compared to German tribes, for example). There could be a logical relation with Rollo's settling in Normandy (acculturation, you know...) However, the Vikings were extremely cunning politicians, so I doubt the power of a monotheistic religion evaded them. I even believe this is why they embraced so eagerly such a foreign religion.

      More like 700/800 years later.
The series is capable of both being quite faithful to history and preposterously wrong.

lets just hope that michael hurst actually takes note of fans comments - caus tbh theres artistic licence and then theres stupidity - also remember the same guy who was so full of pride that someone said that they are taking viking culture seriously, well that means throughout Michael buddy

Rollo's eldest son and heir was William Longsword, the 2nd Duke of Normandy. William the Conqueror was the 7th duke and William Longsword's great-grandson, I think.

Not any one of though men could take Rollo one on one. Maybe even two on one, and they know it.

Hvisterk is basically a younger Rollo with his bezerk style of fighting and Bjorn is as big as Rollo and a formidable fighter. Rollo is washed up after being on the throne for years. Hvisterk and Bjorn could easily take him on. Bjorn would have a decent chance by himself.

      True :
      - The desk Rollo writes on is of typically XVIIIth century style.
      - Windows panes are Renaissance like (XVIth century style).
