    I'm not arguing with the science, but I feel like out of the 5 ways to handle money, spending it on stuff is the one that makes me the most happy. Whenever I spend money on experiences, I feel guilty and depressed because it's like the money is vanishing into thin air, and I don't get anything in return that I can hold. I like to buy things that make me happy, like a nice pair of shoes, or a new laptop with a beautiful display to watch movies on. And one day, I WOULD like to buy a supercar that will make me happy whenever I sit in the driver's seat.

    • @YouTubianGuy
      @YouTubianGuy 2 дня назад

      Interesting! I am exactly the opposite haha. If I use money on buying things, I feel guilty, because after the initial moment of discovery of something "new", I often find myself not enjoying the thing I bought for very long. And then I feel guilty because it is still there, reminding me every day that I am not using it, even though it was really expensive.
      On the other hand if I buy experiences (like a trip), I can fully enjoy the moment and memory. I feel the money is much better spent there. :)

    Im not saying he is wrong, I would just like people to consider that when those who walk away from family "because of politics" or any other seemingly trivial thing, that "thing" may have simply been the final nail in the coffin. Barring individuals with a serious personality disorder, people typically dont "just walk away" without a ton of pain, self doubt and failed attemps to communicate and mend the relationship. Family is soooo important, i agree, but blood isnt the only type of family so if you find yourself in this very difficult situation, dont despair. You can still build a family of your own making.❤

      100% ! Nothing is worse than having to walk away from a family member because you feel extreme guilt. At the same time you must protect your happiness. I agree with you many times it's years and years of verbal abuse that builds over time and causes damage for a lifetime. Older Generations expect younger generations to put up with abused because they did with their parents and in-laws and it's not ok! You don't owe anything to a person that puts you down even if they are family.

      You don't need to have faith in God. You can have faith in yourself, it works just the same. If it's genuine belief in yourself there's nothing more powerful than faith. I'm not religious in the slightest, and yet faith changed my life in pretty much every single way

    • @ShaeJ_Shae
      @ShaeJ_Shae 2 дня назад +1

      @@phased3941but it seems as if he’s talking about faith in a higher power that’s not in human form. I often find this discouraging because I am not religious at all either, but it seems like in order to “truly be happy”, even in terms of money, it always goes to believing in a god.

    • @phased3941
      @phased3941 День назад

      @ShaeJ_Shae yeh he's talking about God for sure, but you don't have to be religious to have faith and believe.
      I don't believe in a higher power, but I do believe in my own will power, and have faith in myself to achieve my goals.
      As like an example from my pov, I used to always believe in hope, I would just hope that life would get better, and hope I would get what I wanted, but I would never actually jump through the hoops to get what I wanted, hope pulls you down to think someojes gonna come save you, faith pushes you up to save yourself. if its genuine atleast
      I can't say if there's a way to force yourself to just randomly believe in yourself. For me one day I just had enough walked out on my job that I hated and forced myself to take action, since then faith has been probably the most important thing to me, who I was vs who I am now is a night and day difference.
      I myself have always been an optimistic person tho. I just channelled that optimism in the wrong place before

    This is called confirmation bias. The Ramsey Solutions team sought out a Christian conservative “scientist” to support preconceived ideas and opinions.
    I haven’t read through this man’s work but I’ve heard of him before. Simply because these four things are what HE found to be causes of happiness does not mean it is factual. Correlation does not imply causation. Many times when studies are conducted without accounting for bias, confounders, etc. the results can be misleading and inaccurate. This is why it is SO important to have studies peer reviewed, randomized, and controlled (gold standard - RCT).
    Tossing around catchy words like “the data, science, scientist, etc.” are borderline meaningless. They sound cool and smart, but are just words. Follow the actual stats, math, and science behind said studies. Many times studies are purely correlative, not causative in the results.
    By the way, I’m Christian and conservative.

    Money will not assure happiness. Lack of money will guarantee unhappiness. That much I know. I’m tired of people who haven’t ever worried about paying a single bill telling the rest of the world how money doesn’t mean anything.

      I agree mostly with that. I feel that not having our needs met will guarantee unhappiness. For sure. And often that is tied to money or lack thereof. I have also known folks who had near nothing financially. And somehow were still feeling blessed, and were filled with gratitude. They had found a way to make their needs very few. And they got met somehow. I am not happy if some need is at risk of not being met and I don't yet know what to do. But the fire under my butt helps me find a way to either get it met or find a way to not need it anymore. Take care 🤗

    The formula is flawed. If certain family members are toxic, then investing energy into those family members is usually draining. Certain friends become energy vampires too. So, since you can't pick family, happiness is not elusive, you just have to make firm boundaries. Friends that don't bring happiness should be replaced with those that do. @@ShaeJ_Shae We don't know his heart from a 8 min clip. We can't judge that. I think in reference to your question it all depends on how mature a follower of Christ is, the parables of the sower in Matthew 13 come to mind. Some aren't easily misguided, where as the luke warm or carnal Christian is easily led astray by the desires of the flesh.

    happiness means different things to different people and just pigeon holing it to x number of things is silly. i've had a happy and fulfilling life for decades and the most important part of it has been my freedom and controlling my own destiny. other people may find happiness in career success, family, love or whatever else combinations. but i'm no distinguished harvard educated doctor writing books with oprah so what do i know?

    What good is happiness if you lose your own soul? It's not faith itself that's important. It's faith in a savior that can save. This is a very utilitarian view of religion. It doesn't matter whether or not it's true because it's useful. Well what good is a life filled with happiness if you die and go to hell? Joy is found in the object of faith: Jesus Christ. Not in faith itself. You can't call yourselves Christians and claim such things. Friendship with the world (meaning worldly ideologies) is enmity with God.

      Right. There are a lot of people that were starved, sexually abused, or left for days on end by their druggy parents. That's not the type of family that he's talking about.

    Meh I don't have religion/faith and I'm pretty happy. And I know plenty of Christians who struggle with unhappiness and depression. So I disagree with that assessment.
    I guess people can have bad reasons to believe in something and that can make them happy but I don't want to live a life like that. Not sure who would.

    • @pdxmusl1510

      That's religious faith. He's talking general faith. Which is different. I mean I tend to agree that religious faith is not valuable. And that "spirituality" is a silly concept. So like you I kinda reject this idea. I define it a bit differently. Which I think is still in the spirit of what he's talking about.
      But like.. faith in your relationships. Faith in your abilities. Realizing your not as powerful as you think you are. There's likely something that humbles you in your life. That's what I put in that "faith" bucket.

    • @iluvworldofwarcraft
      @iluvworldofwarcraft 3 дня назад

      @@pdxmusl1510 faith, as I'm used to being described to me, is belief in something without evidence. Belief in something and faith in something are two different things. If you have faith in something you have no good evidence to support that a belief. So I try to live my life where my beliefs have good evidence so faith is not required.
      I believe in TONS of things, including the universe exists, human interaction is important, and we are insignificant in the grand scheme of the universe. So when people say you should "believe in something bigger then yourself" I do in that I believe the universe is bigger than me. But I don't subscribe to the whole spiritual/gods/"higher power" thing.

      @iluvworldofwarcraft You've been told about "blind faith", it sounds like. But faith in the traditional sense is not that, it's trusting in what you have good evidence to believe.

    • @iluvworldofwarcraft
      @iluvworldofwarcraft 3 дня назад

      @@MichaelAnderson-wk1no that's called "trust". Trust is what you say when you have evidence for a belief. It's redundant to say "blind faith" and faith is already blind because there's no obvious good reason for the belief. It's like saying a "car vehicle"... well duh a car is a vehicle so the vehicle part is not necessary. Same with BLIND in blind faith.
      Like you don't go on an airplane and have faith it'll fly safely. You have trust due to the evidence of safety records, statistics, maintenance procedures, redundant systems, and required pilot training.

      @iluvworldofwarcraft For someone that doesn't belive in faith, you sure claim to know a lot about it. 🙂 Call it what you want, but I've never known anyone that "believes in something without evidence".

    I’m not a fan of stocks-I put my trust in crypto instead. To me, crypto feels more like it's for the people, while stocks seem geared towards the government. I’ve never seen any returns from stocks, but I had a great experience with crypto. In 2021, I invested $1,500 in Shiba Inu, and within four months, its value skyrocketed. At its peak, my investment reached $30,000, but I decided to sell when I noticed it beginning to drop. In the end, I walked away with $27,000 in profit.
