Good video. Very nice camera angles under the bike. I find pre-lubing the filter gasket with fresh oil will prevent the filter from cooking onto the block. Just sayin.
I will say the oil filter is kind of in a tight place on the vtx by that coolant overflow tank makes it hard to tighten and loosen, I got the k&n oil filter makes it a easier process although at least for me I can't fit a socket wrench but I can use a regular wrench just fine, I use full synthetic valvoline or mobile 1 👍
I have never ever in all the hundreds and hundreds of filters that I have changed ever. Did I not put a glaze of oil on the rubber gasket so it doesn't bind up when you're putting it on?
Nice video. I must admit to not changing the drain plug washers regularly. It's a wonder that the filter didn't leak being put on so tight, crushing the rubber washer.
In my area you can take used oil to an automotive repair shop. Most places will take small quantities for free or a small fee. By looking on the internet, you should be able to find places locally that will recycle it.
I myself, change the oil filter with every oil change. I tend to over maintain my cars and motorcycles. I go by the saying oil is cheap, motors are expensive. I go 3000 miles between oil, and oil filter changes on my bike. It costs a little more, but I have never had a motor failure in 50 years of riding. It also is a perfect opportunity to look the bike over mechanically a little closer. I use a K&N oil filter and it is about the price of a meal at a fast-food restaurant. I do my own oil changes and it runs about $50.00 for oil and a filter.

My daddy taught me if you have an oil filter that crushed then just drive a larger screw driver though it then use it to loosen it.
What did you torque the drain plugs to?

A lot of new filters come pre-lubed now.

Nice video, quick question. Where do you disposal the old oil left in the pan??

Never probl. Ilt's very .... very good bike.
Honda makes a pretty good motor.
The book says 22ft lbs but that seems little high for me so I do mine at 16
Has anyone ever attempted to vent rear cylinder @top of valve cover on vtx
Back in the day, we would replace oil filters with every other oil change. What do you think about doing that with a motorcycle?
